Chapter 675: Chapter 4: Unknown Journey (Part 4)

"Wake up, with their level of magic immunity, your meteor fire shower won’t even singe a single hair."

"Then what should we do? I just can’t stand that bunch of guys!"

More than ten liches, including Bruto, were all shouting in a group.

Standing in the center, looking at the sandbox, Richie gently raised his left hand to stop the liches’ argument: "Uncles and aunties, don’t get agitated. Thirty thousand troops from the Undead Army pose no major issue for us. With some effort, we can recover around ten thousand on the battlefield. Plus, by absorbing from other areas, we should be able to replenish the thirty thousand rather quickly."

All the liches quietly stared at Richie.

"What’s the matter?" Richie looked up at them.

"Aren’t you angry?" Bruto asked.

"Angry, indeed." Richie replied, "I want more than anyone to smash their bones and feed them to the Hell Hounds. Trust me, everything we’re doing now aims to smash their bones and feed them to the Hell Hounds."

"And then?"

"Like before, adjust the layout, adjust it at will, then continue the attack. Fail, replenish, adjust the layout, attack, fail, replenish, adjust the layout... continuous cycles, while ensuring the main layout remains unchanged. If they attempt a sneak attack, follow the previous plan. Although the likelihood is minimal. Make them feel that we are anxious, almost unable to contain ourselves."

"And then?"

Looking around, Richie softly told them, "Also, trust me."

...

If Richie had any major difficulty now, it might be the patience of the liches.

The perseverance and morale of the liches have never been a concern for Richie, but their patience has. These beings, infinitely close to immortality, are not good at waiting, and often, Richie fears they might just rush the Undead Army recklessly.

That is precisely what Heaven, Hell, and the Black Dragon want to see.

Although liches have soul boxes and won’t die easily, the resources for the Undead Army are limited. An entire ten million strong Undead Army, if it falls here, might not have the chance to gather again.

Neither Heaven nor Hell would allow them to gather such a vast army again.

...

After the military meeting ended, Richie immediately opened the portal to the next location.

Logistics, internal affairs, appeasement, every aspect, every room Richie needed to be concerned about. Or rather, he must at least meet every Great Lich to avoid unexpected situations... He even had to respond in Gray’s voice to correspondences from various places on the Keltos Continent. This was what he had to do every day upon switching to this body.

...

Eight hours later, Richie finally opened his eyes in a hotel in Shisun City, filled with exhaustion.

"I still have to negotiate with the rear insect... I wonder if I can persuade her. If it were my father, he probably wouldn’t need any leverage. He could even persuade the Golden Dragon Clan to become allies without offering any conditions." Resting his forehead, a thought suddenly flashed through Richie’s mind.

Yes, he was such a legendary person. He was everything to my mother, yet he vanished amidst the vast snowy mountains. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮

This world truly is unfair. The Black Dragon and gods and demons must pay the price for what they’ve done.

"Regardless, you always have to try, don’t you?" Pulling his thoughts back, Richie turned his face and asked, "Any news from Bofran?"

"Master, Lord Bofran has come by; he said everything is arranged." Brau, lying prostrate on the ground, said, "Brau told him you were resting and sent him back."

Richie stood up, walked to Brau, recited an incantation, and lightly tapped Brau’s forehead.

In that instant, Brau rolled his eyes and fainted.

"You can sleep well here. This time I’ll go alone." After saying that, Richie tidied his attire and opened the door.

...

A giant dragonfly creature landed in front of Pandora Inn, its wings vibrating.

It was a huge creature, the size of a small cow, with wings spanning over fifteen meters, comparable in size to a sub-dragon.

"Please, my honorable guest." Bofran said respectfully.

Quickly, black bugs the size of piglets piled together to form a stairway leading to the dragonfly creature’s armored back.

Richie stepped onto the black bugs and gradually ascended, seating himself on the armor.

Soon after, Bofran was also carried by the black bugs and ’seated’ upon the armor.

The dragonfly creature’s wings began to vibrate, the massive body carrying Richie and Bofran suddenly soaring into the air, flying towards the southern cliff of the city.

"Hahaha!" Bofran suddenly laughed wildly, "How do you feel? My esteemed guest! Although the ’dragonfly’ has poor biting capabilities, its flying ability is the best across the continent! It’s the finest flying mount!"

Richie didn’t reply, just turned his face slightly, silently observing the city below.

The surrounding scenery rapidly sped by, streaking towards the rear.

The dragonfly monster carried them, weaving through the stalagmite architecture, moving swiftly. At times, it came as close as one or two meters from crashing into the massive stalagmites.

Yet, Richie did not need to worry about it at all. As Bofran said, the flying prowess of this insect was exceptional. Even at extreme speeds, it could suddenly hover, with turns, gliding, and climbing no effort at all.

Richie, a lich with three bone dragons, even felt this dragonfly creature’s flying abilities outmatched those of bone dragons, reaching an incredible level—except for speed.

If we talk speed, the Dragon Clan is always a bit faster, whether alive or dead.

But they are ’cheap’ enough, aren’t they?

In the blink of an eye, they rushed into a tunnel within the cliff, darkness enveloping the surroundings.

Meanwhile, the dragonfly creature, with wings extending fifteen meters, flew through a passage barely twenty meters in diameter without the slightest decrease in speed. Occasional lava within the tunnel flashed by like a meteor, disappearing in an instant.

Weaving through numerous forks, traversing labyrinth-like underground passages, after half an hour, the surroundings suddenly widened, also brightening.

Richie found himself facing a vast underground cavern.

Lava poured like rivers from above, cascading down the rocky walls, pooling into a massive lava lake below. The gaps in the surrounding lava rivers were strewn with countless insect holes, each connected by long, black rope-like walkways, all directing toward the center. Large as piglets, insects scurried back and forth along them.

Regarding the center, suspended over the lava lake, was a giant onion-shaped black object, gently swaying under the pull of ropes. It occasionally exhaled from the gaps surrounding it, as though breathing, resembling a living entity.

"This is the heart chamber; my queen insect resides here." Bofran introduced.

The dragonfly creature slowed down, following the path of one rope leading into the heart chamber.

Inside was a cavernous space, with thick black fleshy walls... clearly, this structure is indeed alive.

Or rather, it is essentially a colossal insect.

As soon as they stopped, a large pack of insects swarmed around, laying down a stairway at Richie’s feet.

Before Richie could step down from the dragonfly’s spine, he saw a humanoid figure approach the dragonfly.

It was a woman, Richie was sure, it was a woman.

Fair complexion, delicate features, long, elegant ears. Such refinement could match that of the Elf Clan. Even Andrew would likely be astonished here.

However... her eyes were pure black, devoid of irises. Her neck was covered with red blood vessels. Her body, well-shaped, was clothed in black exoskeletons, resembling that of insects. Joint areas even bore claw-like protuberances.

Most notably, she did not have human feet. Instead, she had a massive larva-like fat lower body, with twelve legs and enormous limbs.

Her upper body size was almost human-like, while the lower body was as massive as a bull, making her stand a full three meters tall.

Before Richie could react, she had already crossed her hands in salute, smiling, softly introducing in Abyssal language: "Hello, I am called Attila. As the queen insect of the black flame tribe, I welcome your arrival, my esteemed guest."
