Chapter 540: Chapter 540: I Want Some Peace and Quiet

"I don’t know how to explain myself either, I’m really sorry."

She didn’t know what had happened in between, and even if this person wanted to blame her, she had nothing to say.

Jude Shaw felt a headache and slowly rubbed his head.

"You should go back first, I want some quiet."

Vivian Jacobs stood up, pursed her lips, and in the end, said nothing.

After she left, Jude Shaw looked at the documents again, realizing that in the end, these things had nothing to do with Vivian. Over the years, he had been sponsoring her education, and if the Jacobs Family truly cared about this daughter, they wouldn’t let her and her mother live such a destitute life.

He set the documents aside, unsure of what he truly felt, deciding to take it one step at a time.

Vivian returned home and heard the sound of cooking, quickly opening the door.

"Mom, haven’t you eaten yet?"

The woman cooking saw her come in and smiled kindly.

"My illness has gotten better, thanks to the person who has been sponsoring us all these years. I don’t even know how to repay them."

Vivian lowered her eyes, knowing that her relationship with Jude Shaw was unequal from the start.

"Mom, don’t worry, I’ll repay him." 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢

She was determined to stay by his side and take good care of him.

Mrs. Jacobs nodded, finally sighing.

"Vivian, it’s been hard on you staying by my side. Now that you’ve graduated from college and found a good job, I can finally rest easy."

Vivian smiled and squeezed her shoulder gently.

"Don’t worry, I will definitely earn a lot of money."

Mrs. Jacobs nodded, her eyes reddening again.

"It would be great if your father would meet with us. I heard the Jacobs family’s business had troubles years ago. Now that you’re earning money, maybe you can help."

Vivian’s brows furrowed instantly. This was what she disliked the most. Even though that man was just playing around with her mom, in her mom’s heart, he had become an unattainable ideal. All these years, she had willingly supported her daughter single-handedly, remaining infatuated with him.

"Mom, I’ve told you before, he was with you back then just to relieve loneliness. You took it seriously. We have nothing to do with the Jacobs Family, and I will never recognize that man as my father!"

Mrs. Jacobs’s face turned angry instantly, slapping her hard across the face.

"Shut up! Do you know why I raised you? If it weren’t for my love for your father, why would I have gone through so much hardship to raise you? It was all to see him again. Vivian, don’t speak of your father that way. In my heart, he is always the best man."

Stubborn and unyielding.

Vivian was too tired to speak anymore and went into her room.

Mrs. Jacobs sobbed on the sofa, making countless calls to the man, who never picked up and eventually blocked her number.

Why did it have to be like this? They once made solemn promises. Was she the only one who remembered?

Mrs. Jacobs was a lovesick woman, stubborn, yet pitiful. But this pitifulness sometimes bordered on the hateful.

After lying on the bed, Vivian kept thinking about the night’s events. She originally intended to tell her mom about her marriage plans, but because she was an illegitimate daughter of the Jacobs, Jude Shaw became distant toward her.

She felt wronged, knowing from a young age that her family wasn’t well-off and always working hard on her studies. Later, someone was willing to sponsor her, and the teacher happily told her that her sponsor was at the school, asking if she wanted to meet him.

It was during her senior year of high school, and she had been receiving Jude Shaw’s sponsorship for three years.

He was generous, and she didn’t know why she was so lucky to catch his attention.

"Teacher, I want to meet him."

It was a nice day, and she quickly went to the principal’s office, immediately seeing the handsome man.

He was very young, looking only a few years older than her, with sunlight casting a halo on him.

At that very instant, she was completely captivated.

"Vivian, come over, this is Mr. Shaw, your sponsor."

The teacher waved, but she was too stunned to move, just standing there, staring blankly at him.

At that moment, she believed there were princes in the world, who would save her from suffering, but she always knew she wasn’t a princess.

So after that meeting, she worked tirelessly, striving to get into a top-tier university and bridge the gap between them.

The next time they met, he seemed down and had lost weight, seemingly having suffered a significant blow.

But she still loved him, loved everything about him.

She was glad she resembled the woman he loved, grateful for the opportunity to get close to him.

Then she followed him home. He said he wanted to marry her, and she was so happy she didn’t know what to do even though she knew it was because she resembled that woman. But she finally had the chance to stand before him, didn’t she?

Vivian turned over, her eyes shimmering brightly, determined to gradually get closer to him.

The next morning, she received a text from Jude Shaw, asking her to come over.

She leapt out of bed excitedly, washed up carefully, and then ran over to his place.

"The wedding continues, see what kind of wedding dress you like?"

He seemed calm, but she clearly saw the dark circles under his eyes; he must not have slept last night.

"I’m okay with anything, as long as it’s a wedding dress, I like it all."

She said with a smile, seeing Jude Shaw glance at her.

"Choose well; maybe it’s the only one in your lifetime."

This remark was sweet, and at least Vivian could read other meanings into it.

Did he mean he would never divorce her in this life?

She smiled, stepping forward to take the photos and looked through them carefully.

"This one, it’s simple and gentle."

The one she picked was just what Jude Shaw also liked, and he smiled as he immediately called the manager.

The wedding dress was airlifted, stunning, arriving at Jude Shaw’s villa the next day.

Vivian tried it on, and it fit perfectly.

Their wedding proceeded in a rushed manner, but Jude Shaw arranged every detail well; everything that other women had, she had too.

When Mrs. Jacobs learned her daughter was getting married, she was shocked. Hearing Vivian’s groom was their sponsor, she instantly grabbed Vivian.

"Vivian, I know you want to repay him, but this isn’t the way! Besides, he must be much older, not a good match for you."
