Chapter 122: Let’s Teleport

Time flies when you’re having fun. And Ember was definitely having fun. Since she arrived at the base, she had been enjoying bedroom games with Aiden, frolicking around with others, and just naturally enjoying life.

But now the fun times were about to come to an end. Today was the day they would venture into the wild. And by wild, it was the slums close to the military base. Today was the day they would try to get members.

They didn’t expect it to be easy. This was also the day they would try the pulse buttons. They had attempted to use it on each other before, but Ember was notified by the CE that, since they already had the contract, they wouldn’t be able to experience it.

The thing that members used is the Ghost Protocol. It is more advanced than the pulse button.

Ember, Aiden, Cassia, Ivan, and Sarah were leaving today. They made sure to preprogram the pulse button. While they would not be drawn into the illusion, they would still be able to see everything. In the illusion, they would be able to hear their conversations. They could also respond when needed.

The one-hour trek wasn’t much for the five people. All the training they had been doing had made them much stronger than before.

They arrived at the foot of the mountain relatively quickly. They had no clue how they would go about recruiting people. They didn’t have a shop, stall, or anything. What they needed was a secluded place.

"We need to find a place with a lot of foot traffic. But it should be secluded. Or not easy for people to look in," Ivan suggested.

They watched the people walk around. Saw them scrounging around. For a moment, they wondered if it would be possible to do such a thing. Nevertheless, they had to find a place to do this because the base needed to be updated.

The sounds of rowdy laughter carried as they walked. As did the sound of sorrowful cries. Though people gathered in the same place, they were all experiencing different kinds of lives.

There are some who thrive in this kind of run-down environment. They consider themselves bosses. Most of these people were hoodlums who finally had no rules to follow. Regardless of what was happening around them, the team walked as though they had not seen anything.

After searching for more than an hour, they came across a building that might be able to suit their purpose. The windows were tinted. Stepping inside, they saw glass cases everywhere.

If not for the picture still hung on the way, they wouldn’t know what kind of store this is. A place that sells weapons. Well, sold. The place had been emptied. The only things remaining are the broken glass cases.

"Well, I guess it can work. At least they didn’t break down the door. After we close it, we can have some privacy," Ivan remarked.

"It’s one of the better buildings," Aiden commented. He scanned the room. Some of the metal hinges from the display cases have been torn off.

"Let’s just clean up," Sarah said, already kicking some broken pieces of wood out of the way.

Ember took some brooms and cleaning supplies out of the space. By noon, they were tired and ready to quit. They hadn’t eaten since they left the base. Ember gave everyone some food from the space.

By one o’clock, the place was clean and ready. They had changed the locks and placed a heavier door. One that could withstand the current strength of the people in this world.

As soon as she sat down to rest, Ember heard the system notification.

[Clean-up complete]

[Recruitment office identified]

[Recruitment office now attached to Eyrie]

[Teleportation circle placement available]

[Upgrade options unlocked for the building]

Ember stared dazedly at the words in front of her. She hadn’t expected that cleaning up a building could lead to such results. She considered cleaning up other buildings.

Her heart thumped in her chest. This meant they no longer had to think about whether they would be followed up the mountain.

This was a major concern for Ember. Although they would test the people. Large numbers of people walking up the mountain would be too conspicuous.

She hugged Aiden, jumping on the spot.

"What? Why are you so happy?" Aiden asked, gazing down at her.

The rest of the team turns to her, curiosity in their eyes. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖

"We don’t need to worry about getting people up the mountain anymore," Ember giggled. She didn’t explain further, but continued to speak. "Let’s go."

She walked into the back room they had cleared. She looked around. The place was empty, so she could place the teleportation circle anywhere. She thought briefly before placing it at the side of the room.

"CE, I want to put it away from the door. Put it on the left-hand side."

[Cost to place teleportation circle 1,000 AB]

Ember’s face sank. She knew it was too good to be true. But still, she did it. She had more than enough. If there was one thing she had to admire about Valentina’s base, it was that it had a lot of AB.

It had even more Lust Essence. And the CE could convert it. Ember shook her head inwardly. She couldn’t allow her base to be a place to harvest CL and AB. She wanted people who could work together to make it better.

Coming out of her thoughts, she placed the circle. There was a blue glow in the section of the room where Ember wanted to place it. The others had seen the glow and looked at Ember. This was when she decided to explain.

"This is a teleportation circle. It links directly to the Eyrie. Now, we don’t need to think about carrying people up and down the mountain. It will be harder to find us." Ember grinned, crossing her arms. Her posture was confident.

"Ivan, since you are our recruitment person, tell me what else this place needs. I’ll get it," Ember patted her chest confidently.

"Aye aye, captain," Ivan saluted.

Because they had a direct link to the base, they decided not to recruit today. They could start in the morning. For the rest of today, they would spend the time fixing up the office.

Ivan was the one to make the suggestion. After Ember heard his requirements, she wondered if Ivan was trying to build a second home in the office.
