The Lust System: Brother, Please Help Me-Chapter 125: Promoted?
Twenty minutes. That’s how long it took to take a shower. And even after the shower, they hadn’t come back yet.
Ember and Aiden made their way to the square. They wanted to find out what the problem was.
No one was at the circle when they arrived, so they decided to teleport. The first thing they saw when they arrived was Ivan, naked.
"Well, this is a greeting," Ember quipped.
Ivan looked over to see both of them standing there. Cassia’s legs were spread over the chair handles, and Ivan was pounding away.
"Everybody’s outside," he panted before looking away.
Walking past, they stepped outside. It was coming on to night. Ember couldn’t understand why they would leave the office. The air outside is terrible. Are they looking for torture?
No matter what it was, Ember and Aiden stepped outside to see if they could find them. Walking hand in hand, they strolled through the crowded streets. Had it not been for the stench and the numerous people in torn clothes, it would be romantic.
The first person they found was Mario. He was sitting with a couple. There were tears in his eyes. The couple looked filthy. Their clothes and faces were covered in grime. They were an older couple.
When Mario saw Ember and Aiden coming towards him, he wiped his face and quickly stood up. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
"Parents?" Aiden questioned. Mario nodded. Aiden waved his hand. "If they’re willing, you can bring them back, but they stay in the commons."
Walking away, Ember turned to watch Mario, sitting down to talk to his parents. "Did the rest go out to look for their loved ones?"
"It’s possible," Aiden murmured. He sighed, "Let’s go back. If they really do plan to find their loved ones, they’ll come back before it gets too dark."
Walking into the office, the smell of sex was everywhere.
"I thought he was christening his chair," Ember muttered.
Aiden guffawed. "You can’t hear anything, so they should be done."
Carefully finding a place to sit, Ember and Aiden spoke softly to each other. It was only after the sun went down that everyone came back. Some came with empty handed. Others returned with people.
One surprise that shocked everyone was Cassandra. Before Alen clung to her like a tick. Now, there was a woman in his arms who looked remarkably similar to Cassandra.
Even covered in dirt, the resemblance was uncanny.
Of course, a certain someone was happy. His girlfriend was finally his alone.
"I will assume that since you brought these people here, you’ve told them about the base?" Aiden asked
Getting their response, his eyes fell on the people they brought. "And what do you all think about it?"
Their silence spoke volumes. But Aiden and Ember didn’t really care whether they had sex or not. The main reason they encourage it is that it’s needed to power the base.
"No one’s forcing you to stay in the base. It’s your own choice. But this is the fact of the matter. The base is powered by sexual energy. If you don’t have sex, there is no base."
"Without the base, not just you, but all of us here would have to go to the slums. So make your choice. Sex ever so often or dying?"
Ember made their stance clear. While she isn’t forcing them to have sex, they still need to contribute a little CL and AB.
"We’ll do it," two people in their twenties standing beside Sarah spoke up.
With one person willing to make the ’sacrifice’, the others were more willing to give it a try.
"Good," Ember nodded. "Anyway, it’s night, and I want to go home."
"All of you, sleep in the commons," Aiden told the new people. "If any of you don’t want them to sleep there, then trade your rooms." Aiden declared to the contracted.
They all walked to the back room. Those who didn’t know what was happening were confused, seeing everyone walk into the back room. They were told they were going to their base. Is it in the back room?
Ember ordered Adrienne, "Rienne, try to start the circle. I want to test something."
Pointing her sigil to the node, there was no movement from the circle. "Ivan, you try it." There was still no reaction.
She called Aiden to try. That’s when the circle responded. Ember smiled.
Coming out the other end, Ember called the five people: Adrienne, Sarah, Ivan, Alex, and Marcus, to the room. They did not explain to the others what they were doing.
"You can take your people around the base. Let them have a bath and get familiar. We’ll talk to everyone later about what’s expected in the base." Ember dismissed them.
The seven were now heading to Ember and Aiden’s room. They were curious about what happened at the circle. There must be a reason Ember asked them to try. There must also be a reason why there was no reaction when they did.
Ivan tried to get information out of them as they walked, but Ember and Aiden were both tight-lipped.
When the door was finally closed, and they were in Ember and Aiden’s room, Aiden spoke, "Congratulations, you’re getting promoted."
"Promoted? As what?" Curious Ivan was the first to ask.
"Well," Aiden began. "You all have been taking care of the base. It’s been more than a month now since doomsday. You’ve come a long way with us. We decided that it would be good for you to take on more responsibility."
"You have to constantly ask us for approval. We decided to give you a different contract. One that would give you more access. What do you think?"
The silence was so loud. They had already been taking care of the base. And while they found it annoying to constantly ask for certain permissions, they knew this was not their base.
Now, Ember and Aiden were giving them a higher level of freedom. They felt...strange. Especially seeing the grin on Ember’s face.
They wanted to feel happy, but for some reason, they felt cautious.
