Chapter 23 - GIFTS

The sun had started its slow descent, casting a warm golden hue over the village rooftops.

I sat quietly on the balcony of our new house, a porcelain cup of steaming tea nestled between my fingers. The soft aroma of herbs and jasmine drifted upward, blending with the gentle breeze that kissed my cheeks.

Each sip I took was slow and thoughtful.

There was something about drinking tea in silence — it had a rhythm, a peace that let the mind wander deeper.

> The world had become chaotic, but this balcony... this tea... was still mine.

So much had happened in the past few days.

The village chief, Jones Smith, was dead — murdered mysteriously. There were rumors flying, fear spreading, and still no word on who the next chief would be.

A power vacuum like this was dangerous...

But also, an opportunity.

And me? I had something nobody else in this village had —

A system, the power to manipulate minds, and most recently...

> Crimson Shards.

I had dozens of them stored safely inside my newly bought invisible inventory.

But I wasn't going to sell them — I was going to use them.

Not on myself.

Not yet.

I was going to use them on my women — my faction.

> Darcy. Sarah. Lindy.

They'd follow me into the storm... so I'd make sure they were strong enough to survive it.

But there was a problem.

Crimson Shards only worked on people who had already awakened their talents.

And unfortunately... none of them had awakened yet.

To awaken someone's talent, I needed something special — the Blue Flame.

There were only 15 Blue Flames in the entire country:

One for each of the 14 states, and the final one guarded closely by the Royal Family.

> A single mistake, and I'd be hunted down like a rat. At level 5, I wasn't ready yet.

But that didn't mean I couldn't give them powers.

I placed the empty cup down, its gentle clink echoing in the silence.

With a slow breath, I opened my system interface, navigating to the Slave section under my profile.

And there it was:

---

> Slave Will Status:

1. Darcy – Slave Will: 11,000%

2. Sarah – Slave Will: 6,000%

3. Lindy – Slave Will: 2,000%

4. Erika – Slave Will: 40%

For the past few days I had a lot of sex so I had good amounts of token I spend many of them on my stat points but still there were many left

---

I clicked on Darcy's profile first.

> Abilities: None

I clicked [Y].

A scroll of possible abilities appeared before my eyes:

---

1. Strength Increase – 40U

2. Intelligence Increase – 50U

3. Agility Increase – 70U

...

4. Heal Others – 90U

---

That last one caught my eye.

> Darcy's natural talent... was always nurturing. A born healer.

This ability would let her heal others using the command [Heal].

A perfect match.

I clicked on it.

---

> ✅ Successful Gift sent to Darcy. Command: [Heal] auto-bound.

---

I smiled faintly.

---

A little far from where I was...

Darcy and Sarah were inspecting our old house, planning to rent it.

Darcy suddenly stumbled, grabbing the wall.

> "W-What... is this?" she whispered.

A warmth began to bloom in her chest — her heart raced. A faint golden glow pulsed from her fingertips, unseen by normal eyes.

Her lips trembled.

She didn't know why...

But something inside her had changed.

She felt... connected. Empowered.

---

Back to the system.

I opened Sarah's profile.

> Slave Will: 6,000%

Gift Abilities? [Y/N] — I clicked [Y]

Again, new list. Slightly different this time. More combat-oriented.

---

1. Strength +5 stat – 60U

2. Agility +5 stat – 60U

3. Speed +10 stat – 80U

---

I bought all three.

---

At the same time...

Sarah, standing outside the old house and brushing dust off the wooden gate, suddenly fell to her knees.

> "Aaaaaah!" she screamed, her legs cramping, burning from inside.

Darcy rushed to her side, panicked.

> "Sarah?! What's wrong?!"

Sarah didn't answer.

Her bones felt like they were melting, then hardening — her muscles stretched, her reflexes sharpened.

Her body trembled.

And then...

It stopped.

She panted heavily, wiping the sweat from her forehead.

> "What... the hell... just happened to me?"

She didn't know it yet... but her body had evolved.

---

Next... Lindy.

My fingers hovered.

She wasn't a fighter.

She was an engineer, a crafter, someone who used brains over brawn.

So I chose two abilities tailored to her:

1. Basic Crafting – 90U

Command: [Craft]

2. Intelligence +5 stat – 50U

Total cost? 140U. Worth every coin.

---

In her workshop, Lindy was wiping the counters, ready to close for the day.

Suddenly, a searing pain shot through her skull like lightning.

> "AHHH!" she screamed, clutching her head, tools dropping to the ground.

The customers around her gasped, crowding with worry.

> "Miss Lindy, are you alright?!"

"Should we call a healer?!"

She shook, panting, barely able to stand — but then...

It was gone.

And in its place?

Clarity. Mental sharpness.

Suddenly, every blueprint, every mechanism she'd ever seen became clearer. More vibrant.

New ideas flowed into her brain like water into an empty jug.

> "I... I know how to build things I've never even learned..." she whispered to herself in awe.

---

Back on the balcony... I smiled.

> Good. That's three upgrades.

And Erika... she's still at 40%. I'll deal with her later.
