Chapter 14: Chapter FOURTEEN

The warriors didn’t do anything but stare and gossip among themselves, but that wasn’t the issue, because my heart couldn’t help but bleed from the hurtful things I said to Brian. π—³π—Ώπžπ•–π˜„π—²π•“π—»πš˜πšŸπ•–π₯.πšŒπ• π•ž

Could it be that he truly fell for me? I questioned my instinct silently as I watched his tall, broad and mighty figure depart from the training ground.

I really wish I could express my feelings for you Brian but that’s too hard, I am a Queen now and I won’t let anyone take advantage of my emotions anymore.

Are you okay my queen? Master keal asked while taking the sword away from my shaky and sweaty hands, you should go home and have some rest.

I will communicate the next training session to you, and miss Ava, my child. He said while holding my hands, Brian is a good man and I don’t know your past yet.

But letting it hunt your present and future it’s something that is left for you to control. Try and stay safe he said letting go of my hands.

I immediately felt a gulp of spit traveling down my throat. Let’s go home, I commanded my driver. I stepped into the Jeep as my driver.

The back seat was quiet and peaceful, it was like a therapy for my soul to find peace and in that moment tears slipped down my eyes.

Master keal was right. I shouldn’t judge Brian based on what Lucas and Cynthia did to me. The journey to the palace was a quiet and peaceful one but not my heart.

It raced and raced and signaled my head to keep thinking about my past, present and future. Lucas really took a toll on me.

It’s months now and I still can’t move on, my heart aches and aches reminiscing about all my past lives spent in a cheating and abusive marriage.

But why shouldn’t I sue Lucas to court for money laundering, poisoning and theft. No Ava, let go of the past and focus on what is next.

My head never ceased to roam on different angles of events and thoughts until my eyeballs became heavy from tears and shut down to nature.

Queen Ava? My Queen, we are at the gate, what will I use this information for? Eeehe Lauren enter inside the palace gate please.

Where is that noise coming from Lauren? while i gently wiped my red and moisturised eyes.

It happened that I slept off while overthinking my whole life. What is that noise and why is it coming from my palace? I asked Lauren who was as confused as me.

I don’t know ma but I don’t think it’s safe you being out there my driver replied, it’s okay park here I would walk inside and know what is going on?

As I walked out of the Jeep two of my guards immediately rushed to protect me, it’s like they could sense my aura, what is going on in my house?

I questioned them but their faces held nothing but confusion too. We don’t know what the problem is, my Queen?

But we will be able to protect you and take you inside the mansion. Protect me in my father’s house? My head kept pounding on their words.

The crowd was loud and demanding, I wanted to give them listening ears but my guards had something ordinary people don’t have on their legs.

I couldn’t tell if it’s speed or it’s the way they were trained to be defensive when problems like this raised. ’’Do you think you can run away from the fact that the crowd wants to know if you are fertile’’

My heart ached and for some moment my heart stopped racing, my head automatically turned back to see who spilled such a secret about me.

And all my squinted eyes were able to picture a tall, slender and curvy woman with chest brown hair, drop me guards I commanded but they refused.

As your Queen I command you both to keep me on my feet, yes my queen they slowly kept on the ground while guiding me back through the crowd.

I navigated my body through the crowd ignoring the hands of the press and journalists touching me while I maintained silence and eye contact with the female figure that draws my attention.

Who are you? And why will you make allegations about me? I stared at her eyes intensely trying to put fear in her but it was not happening.

It’s like she had something backing her up, all the cameras were up in my face, but that’s not what bothers me. I needed to clear the air between me and this strange lady standing in front of me.

My name is Cindy. I am from Jelin, we the crowd and society would like to know if you will be able to reproduce and keep an heir to take over the throne if anything happens to you tomorrow?

She asked but I was stunned. Why would the press ask me such questions at this time? I questioned myself in confusion but I tried to sum up all my thoughts together.

Miss Cindy, that shouldn’t be the community’s problems right? I asked her without expecting a reply. Well for your clarification I won’t ever leave my fathers throne empty before leaving this world.

’’But I was able to research few things about you miss Ava and it says you were married to Mr Lucas for years and never had a child for him but his mistress was able to give him two kids that means the problem was from you.’’

Isn’t that true Miss Ava? Cindy asked while she asked her camera men to picture me perfectly. It’s like she has been waiting for this moment.

What do I say to her? Where did she get this news from, I squinted my eyes while looking into her eyes trying to find out who this Cindy of a girl is? Miss Ava? Please go on and answer the questions she said trying to call my attention back to the interview.

How dare you approach me as Miss Ava, Cindy? How dare you, it’s My Queen to you and if I hear you call me Miss Ava again I would make sure that your tongue is no longer in your mouth.

Have a nice day miss Cindy, wait my queen you haven’t answered me yet, Cindy screamed for attention while my guards lifted me up and helped me get inside the house.

Clear away those noise polluters from her house and bring in multiple people that are qualified for the role of an assistant so I can choose from and be fast about it, I commanded my guards before dashing into my room.

My room was quiet but I could still hear the voices of those press downstairs. My heart raced and I tried as much as possible as I could to avoid thinking about what Miss Cindy said.

But I couldn’t help it, the questions she asked, her face and her courage kept appearing and disappearing in my head as I unbuckled my shirt.

She knows something and I need to find her, I thought as I scrubbed the sponge and lather on my body while the water gushing from the shower washed it away.

Leaving me with a cool, scented and clean body. Knock knock! I heard from my door as I stepped out from the bathroom with my towels wrapped around me tightly.

Who is that? I asked while cleaning up the remaining from my body slowly. It’s Freya my Queen, your food is ready and it’s waiting for you on the dinning table.

Okay Freya I would be done in a few minutes, and ask the guards to gather the employees so i can question them while eating.

Okay my queen, Freya said while she left my door. Who could it be? That told Miss Cindy about my health issues, oh God I need to act fast before this news gets to the whole villagers.

I emerged from the bedroom, my expression tight with a mixture of exhaustion and cold resolve. I strode directly to the dining hall, where my lunch was already laid out.

But food wasn’t my priority now. I had a more pressing, and irritating, task to complete.

"Bring them in," i commanded the guard stationed by the door, without even glancing up as i settled into my chair.

The first candidate was ushered in, followed by four more in a quick succession.

One by one, i questioned them on the role of a personal assistant, logistical planning, crisis management, discretion, and communication skills.

Each interview was a brief one, pointed, and ended with a quiet, decisive shaking of my head. Non of them fits into my criteria.

The last hopeful one was shuffled out because of good communication skills and i became frustrated; my appetite was gone.

I rose up to my feet my heels clicked sharply on the floor.

"All of them," are incompetent. Now I will have to do everything on my own, including Cindy’s matter."

But I couldn’t help it but wonder, the questions she asked, her faceβ€”so utterly composedβ€”and her courage kept appearing and disappearing in my head as I walked out of the dinning.

She knows something, and I need to find her, I thought as I head into my room.
