The Master Programmer-Chapter 84: Come to The Office 1
Jason’s grip on Samantha’s arm tightened slightly, his eyes smouldering with a mix of challenge and desire. He stepped closer to her, invading her personal space, their bodies almost touching. The electricity between them was palpable and as she stood there, daring him to do something to her, Jason ended up taking on the challenge.
"Oh, Samantha," he murmured, his voice a low rumble that seemed to vibrate through her very core, "you’re so eager to play this game, aren’t you? But let me be clear, I’m not a man who can be bought or manipulated. Neither can I be used and thrown away probably like every other man you have had in your life before me."
Her pulse quickened, the beat echoing in her ears as she met his gaze, the smirk still playing on her lips. "And yet, here you are, trying to figure me out," she replied, her voice a soft purr that seemed to stroke his ego. Now she was standing right next to him, her chest on his body.
Jason leaned in, his breath warm against her neck. "I don’t need to figure you out, boss," he whispered, with some emphasis on the word Boss, "I already know what you want." His hand slid down to her hip, pulling her even closer. She let out a gasp but then managed to get back her composure.
Damn… this was getting interesting, she thought to herself, still gazing into Jason’s eyes. Samantha’s smirk grew, and she placed her hand on his chest, pushing him back just enough to keep the space between them tight but not quite melting into each other. "Do you, now?" she taunted, arching an eyebrow.
With a swift movement, Jason’s hand snaked around her waist, pulling her against him again. Their bodies collided, and she felt his hardness pressing against her. Her breath hitched, and she knew she was losing ground in their little battle of wills.
"You want to see how deep the rabbit hole goes, don’t you?" he murmured, his lips a whisper away from hers. "But let me tell you a secret, Samantha. I’m not just a rabbit. I’m the whole damn Warren. Don’t fuck with me. You keep asking about me, investigating me… I’m here to tell you right now… You need to stop it. After all, even if you find out something, will it ever be something I don’t want you to find out?"
The fire in Samantha’s eyes grew hotter, the flames of desire licking at the edges of her self-control. She knew she was playing a dangerous game, but the thrill was intoxicating.
"Find out? There’s nothing I can’t find out, Jason. I’m the hunter here," she countered, her voice a seductive whisper.
"Then, my dear," Jason said, his voice a low growl, "I dare you to try and catch me."

With that, he closed the gap between their lips, claiming hers in a kiss that was as powerful as it was unexpected. It was a kiss that spoke of dominance and hunger, and it threw her off. She had not expected Jason to do that, and as she stood there, she began pushing him away, but Jason did not let her win, keeping her close and swallowing her further into him.
Samantha’s knees did indeed buckle slightly, but she managed to remain standing, her hands gripping the front of his shirt. The kiss was explosive, setting off sparks that raced through her body, igniting a fire she hadn’t felt in a very long time.
She understood now… she realised why this young man was so enticing. He was special… in many ways. It was so difficult for her to be around him, and not feel a pull. And now that they were locked in a kiss, it was easy to see just how much of a pull that was. There had been so many situations in which she could get away or stop this, and yet she hadn’t because inwardly, she was attracted to him.
When Jason finally pulled away, she was left panting, her eyes wide with surprise. He had played his hand and played it well. But she wasn’t ready to concede defeat.
"Is that all you’ve got?" she challenged, her voice a little shaky.
Jason chuckled, the sound deep and seductive. "That," he said, tracing a finger down her cheek, "was just the opening act."
"Really? Well, you already know I take videos of everything in this office… Which means you must know that I can get you arrested, don’t you?" Samantha said, stepping back after Jason let go of her, smoothing out her clothes.
Jason smirked. "If you had any leverage against me, you would have used it by now. I meant what I said, Samantha. This is just the opening act. Stop putting your nose where it doesn’t belong. Stick by me and I’ll make us a ton of money. But act against me… And I will destroy you."
"Opening act? Then I look forward to the main event," Samantha said, her voice steady once more.
Jason’s smirk grew. "So do I, Samantha. So do I."
Right at that moment, Jason’s phone buzzed, breaking the moment. He glanced at the screen. A message from an unknown number:
[Hey Cousin… Umm… Yeah. I heard what you said before… and I really couldn’t care less.]
[So I went ahead and visited your little sugar momma. She’s so hot!]
[Hey… if I fuck your Sugar Momma… Would that make me your dad?? Pft Hahaha!!]
Jason’s heart raced. His grip tightened on the phone as he glanced back at Samantha.
"I would love to stick around here… But I gotta go," he said, walking out. And as he did, Samantha watched him leave, a look of complication coming to her. She had expected to come in there and dominantly have him on his knees, but Jason always found a way to turn things around. Now he was leaving just like that after sharing such a hot kiss that had gotten her going. That bastard...
As Jason left the room, one thought consumed him: What had Tim done?
He was the only cousin who knew about Veronica and it was clear that he had done something it was also pretty interesting to see just how impressive everything was. At the end of the day, what was pretty impressive too was the fact that he could finally see something else.
Jason walked out into the night and looking around, he sighed. He needed to get a car very soon. Hopefully, when his paycheck came through he would get something good. He could get something at that moment too, but he just didn’t want to mess things up for himself. After all, any excuse to be around Veronica was good for him. It was all strategic. Now it seemed it might turn into a bad thing.
After standing for a bit of time, Jason flagged down a taxi, and when he did he left the scene, going ahead and leaving.
The city lights blurred as Jason Cross sank into the back seat of the taxi, his jaw tight, fingers tapping against his knee. His phone rested on the seat beside him, the screen glowing with the message from Tim. This was not about fucking Veronica. Tim was an idiot but he would never do something that stupid.
Anyway, something was for sure true… It was the fact that this guy had done something that would destroy Veronica. And in so doing, he would finally have the opportunity to fuck her, in exchange for saving her.
Jason couldn’t shake the unease creeping through him. Tim was a snake, and if he was involving Veronica, something sinister was brewing. If the entire Cross Family was involved… things would get sticky before they got better. Grabbing his phone, Jason dialled Veronica’s number.
"Hello?" Veronica’s voice was unusually chipper, a stark contrast to Jason’s brooding. Hearing this, Jason became even more suspicious. Something was going on.
"Hey, Veronica. You sound... happy," Jason said, letting his smile flow through the conversation he was having with the woman on the other line of the phone. Jason kept his tone warm yet probing, mirroring her positive energy to encourage openness. And it worked perfectly too as in the next moment she began speaking.
"I am! You won’t believe it, Jason," she exclaimed. "I just signed a deal with a major company. This is it—this could skyrocket my business this year! I can’t believe it! I’m so excited, and yet there’s so much for me to do still. I need to set up the teams and I need to deal with the project descriptions…"
As Veronica talked on and on, Jason heard her, but he couldn’t help but sigh inwardly. Damn it… He had heard of this trick. After all, the Cross family Uncles and Autny were so good at it.
Jason’s smile didn’t reach his eyes. "That’s incredible, Veronica. But humour me for a second—did you read the contract?"
There was a beat of silence on the line. "What? Of course, my team handled it. Why are you asking me this now?" Veronica said, still smiling and chuckling on the other end. Jason got a bad feeling immediately.
Jason leaned forward, his voice steady and persuasive. "Veronica, think about it—why would anyone give you a deal where you gain everything, and they gain almost nothing? It doesn’t add up. Contracts like that often have hidden clauses. Things you don’t see at first glance. So I am going to ask you again… Did you read the contract? Or rather, how well can you trust the person who was overlooking the processing of the contract?"
Veronica hesitated. Jason could hear her breath catch. "You think they’re screwing me over?"
Oh, Veronica. I don’t think so. I know so.
