The Obsessive Tycoon Claims the Deserted Heiress-Chapter 56 - 055: Have you ever liked someone?
Chapter 56 - 055: Have you ever liked someone?
Yu Zhi pondered for a moment and concluded, "Maybe he's just too bored."
Qin Huai: "..."
Who would find sending breakfast to someone entertaining enough to kill boredom?
Qin Huai looked at Yu Zhi curiously, "Have you ever liked someone before?"
"What do you mean by 'like'?"
"It's that fluttery feeling—your heart races whenever you see them."
"My heart races every day." Yu Zhi crossed her arms over her chest and glanced her up and down. "You're not stuttering anymore?"
Back when she first started talking to her, three out of every five sentences would be stammered.
Though now she had no issues, it seemed like she'd started talking a lot more.
Qin Huai revealed her two tiger teeth and smiled warmly, "When I talk to you, I don't stutter anymore."
She used to feel nervous because she wanted to get closer but was also a bit afraid.
But ever since the incident in the restroom, Yu Zhi's image in her heart had been adorned with countless halos—she even felt like everything about her was perfect.
Yu Zhi curled her lips slightly, "Keep it up."
Qin Huai nodded and brought up the earlier topic again, "If Lu Li confessed to you someday, would you accept?"
Though she had never been in a relationship herself, she'd watched plenty of TV dramas, and this was exactly how they played out.
First, there's breakfast delivery, then rides back home, and finally, a heartfelt confession to seal the deal.
"Nope." She wasn't interested in little brats.
"Alright then."
Qin Huai didn't press further—their current relationship wasn't deep enough for prying into personal matters like this.
The class bell rang.
Lu Li stood by the rear door and glanced at the girl sitting by the wall before walking straight to the seat beside her.
"Haven't eaten?" he lowered his voice to ask, his gaze falling on the untouched breakfast, still in its packaging. A subtle ache arose in his chest.
Yu Zhi took out her books from her bag, placed them on the desk, and moved the breakfast to the corner of it. "I already ate."
"Hmm." Lu Li nodded softly, recalling the message he'd received that morning. He asked again, "Do you feel like I'm bothering you?"
"What?" Yu Zhi turned her head to look at him, not quite understanding what he meant.
Lu Li unlocked his phone, opened the WeChat interface, and handed it to her under the desk.
Yu Zhi scrolled through their chat history and stopped at the last message: [No need, don't do things like this anymore.]
She raised her brows slightly and shoved the phone back into his hand. "I eat breakfast every morning before leaving the house."
"You still haven't answered my question." Lu Li stubbornly looked at her, eager for an answer.
Yu Zhi twirled her pen a few times. "No."
It wasn't really bothersome—she wouldn't bother herself about such things.
"That's good." Lu Li's lips tugged upward, and the desolation in his eyes vanished completely in an instant.
He watched her side profile and said gently, "I'll wait for you at the stairway after school."
"Hmm?"
"Let's eat dinner together." After Lu Li finished, he quickly added, "You promised me last time."
Yu Zhi paused for a moment. "Did I?"
"You're not planning to back out, are you?" Lu Li suddenly seemed nervous, realizing he didn't have any way to deal with it if she really did.
Yu Zhi didn't respond immediately. Bowing her head slightly, she seemed lost in thought.
Just as Lu Li was about to lose hope, she answered, "I won't back out."
A promise made was a promise kept.
**
The second class in the afternoon was Phys Ed, and Class Seven had already gathered on the field ahead of time.
Qin Huai stood next to Yu Zhi, looking toward the teaching building and sighing in despair.
"What's wrong?" It was rare for Yu Zhi to see her in such a state.
"You just got here, so you wouldn't know—our PE teacher is absolutely ruthless!" Once Qin Huai started complaining, she couldn't stop. "Every single time I have his class, half my life feels gone."
"Is it really that bad?"
"Don't doubt it—just wait and see."
And then they saw a middle-aged man in a neon-green tracksuit jogging toward them not far away.
Though he wasn't tall, his vitality far exceeded everyone present. His stern face carried no trace of emotion, conveying an air of authority without anger.
"Stand properly—what kind of slouching mess is this?!" His first sentence reprimanded them all.
Startled by the sudden scolding, Class Seven straightened up, not daring to even breathe too loudly.
The man swept his gaze over them and said, "Run two laps around the track first."
"!!!"
The sound of sharp gasps spread through the crowd.
The Shengde track was ridiculously large—two laps nearly left their legs useless.
"Got a problem?"
"No, sir!"
"Then what are you waiting for? Do I have to lead you?"
"..."
Yu Zhi was the first to step out of line. Not because she wanted attention, but because the PE teacher's neon outfit was so glaring, it made her uncomfortable to look at.
Seeing this, Qin Huai quickly followed her, pouting. "See? I told you he's a demon. Sigh."
Yu Zhi kept her eyes fixed ahead, her tone nonchalant, "It's fine."
She had roughly measured the distance—running the inner lane would be just around two thousand meters.
Qin Huai: "..."
No wonder she idolized her—Yu Zhi's mindset was on another level.
By the halfway mark of the first lap, Qin Huai was already running out of steam. She bent over, hands on her knees, gasping for air. "I can't—can't do this anymore."
Yu Zhi slowed to a stop, speaking softly, "Then take a break on the side."
Qin Huai waved her hand and pointed at the teacher not far away, watching them closely. "If he catches me, it'll be even worse for me..."
She slowly straightened up and gave Yu Zhi a smile. "I'll just run more slowly."
"Alright." Yu Zhi nodded lightly and intentionally slowed her own pace.
After completing one lap, Lu Li suddenly showed up beside them.
He handed them bottles of water. "Take a break and have a sip."
"Thanks." Yu Zhi twisted open the cap and took a small sip. "When did you go buy this?"
"Just now." Lu Li noticed the thin sheen of sweat on her forehead, and his eyes softened with a trace of concern.
He took out a packet of tissues from his bag and said gently, "If you're tired, don't push yourself."
"It's fine, I'm not tired."
"..."
Having listened to their conversation, Qin Huai was about to walk away when she suddenly recalled her question from the morning. Instead, she took a couple of steps closer.
Qin Huai interrupted them cheerfully, "Classmate Lu, thanks for the water."
Lu Li glanced at her indifferently, his expression reverting to normal. He nodded, "We're classmates—no need to be polite."
Qin Huai replied with an "Hmm," turned to Yu Zhi, and patted her arm. "Let's keep running."
