Yoon Tae-seo fidgeted with his phone, despite having already received a proper warning from Kang Se-heon. Had he already forgotten? Or was he messaging someone again?

“What are you doing?”

“Searching.”

Tae-seo answered immediately at Se-heon’s question. Only after hearing his response did Se-heon notice the difference. At first glance, it seemed like Tae-seo was getting absorbed in his phone, but he wasn’t actually talking to anyone.

Tae-seo tapped at his screen again and stared at it with such intensity that his lower lip curled inward as he bit down on it. He looked deep in thought.

Whether it was because he sensed Se-heon’s gaze or because he had something to say, Tae-seo turned halfway toward him.

“Are you going to keep calling it ‘the baby’?”

The abrupt question made Se-heon hesitate before answering, and Tae-seo looked at him expectantly.

“I never called you a baby.”

“Obviously, I wasn’t talking about myself—I meant this one.”

Tae-seo slowly ran his hand over his stomach. Thanks to Se-heon having touched him plenty earlier, his belly still felt warm. No, it was definitely warmer than before. Maybe that was why the baby kept coming to mind.

“They say the name you give to an unborn baby is called a taemyeong.”

As if to prove his point, Tae-seo held out his phone toward Se-heon, only to pull it back just as quickly. Se-heon was driving, so he couldn’t exactly take a proper look at the screen.

“Our baby needs a taemyeong, too, doesn’t it? I’ve been thinking about it since yesterday, but... it’s something we should decide together. It’s our baby, after all.”

His voice grew softer toward the end. It wasn’t just that he had brought up the baby so suddenly—this was the first time he had ever suggested doing something together.

The traffic light turned red, and as soon as Se-heon stopped the car, he buried his face against the steering wheel. His broad frame completely obscured it, and the slight trembling in his shoulders made it seem like the car’s vibrations had transferred entirely to him.

Tae-seo, who sometimes leaned against the window just to feel the car’s steady rumble, reached out and placed his hand on Se-heon’s shoulder. This vibration was heavier, but not unpleasant. Maybe even better.

“Cute.”

“The baby isn’t even born yet, and you already think it’s cute?”

“...Yeah.”

Se-heon lifted his head from the steering wheel as he answered. Knowing exactly who Se-heon had been referring to, Tae-seo played dumb. If Se-heon was going to tease him for being young by lumping him together with the baby, then Tae-seo would do the same to him.

“Anyway, think about it. I’ll keep thinking, too.”

Muttering to himself, Tae-seo glanced back at his phone. He considered mentioning that he had already searched for possible taemyeong names, but decided against it. Instead of picking from a list, he wanted them to come up with a name they both liked.

“You don’t have any ideas yet?”

“Hmm... not yet. Actually, it’s not just the taemyeong. I don’t even know what I’m supposed to do from now on.”

Resting his chin lightly against his phone, Tae-seo’s throat tightened. Without turning to look at Se-heon, he simply moved his lips.

“I was so ignorant. I was thinking about having the baby without knowing anything at all.”

A sheepish smile spread across his face.

“That was me, wasn’t it?”

Before Se-heon could respond, Tae-seo quickly added,

“That’s why I keep looking things up whenever I’m alone. I check what changes happen at this stage, how big the baby is growing—I search all of it.”

Se-heon reached out and ruffled Tae-seo’s hair.

“You’re doing well.”

It wasn’t a rebuke—he wasn’t scolding Tae-seo for being unprepared. Instead, it was praise, as if telling him that it was good he was making the effort now.

“I should learn from you.”

“Just trust me and follow along.”

Tae-seo’s resolve was firm—he would look up everything he needed to know. As if in response to that, Se-heon’s scent spread gently through the air, layering over itself like strokes of crayon.

This was why Tae-seo could never refuse a ride in Se-heon’s car, even though he had Secretary Han.

“Have you talked to your parents again since that day?”

“They asked me to go with them to the next hospital appointment. That’s all. It almost makes me wonder if they don’t care about me anymore...”

Tae-seo knew full well that his parents loved him, but he wasn’t sure if that love would extend to the baby. After all, they hadn’t had any serious discussions about it yet. They seemed to need time to process everything and had chosen not to say much to him for now.

But at home, the meals were suddenly more lavish than ever, and Secretary Han’s phone rang more frequently than before.

“They prepare these extravagant meals just for me—I feel like some kind of noble. And compared to before, they change my bedding all the time. It smells nicer, the room’s cleaner, and Secretary Han is busier than ever.”

It wasn’t just Tae-seo; his parents were also putting a lot of thought into the baby. They constantly checked to see if he was comfortable, if anything was lacking.

They would probably sit him down soon and share their thoughts.

“Whether that’ll be before or after the hospital visit, I don’t know.”

Tae-seo was curious about what they would say, but he held himself back. Something told him he should wait until his parents had sorted out their own feelings.

He turned back to his phone and, as if he had just discovered something new, looked over at Se-heon.

“It says here that I need to be careful around other Alphas’ pheromones.”

"An Omega carrying a baby instinctively hides themselves. Their pheromones disappear, and they become unable to detect other Alphas’ pheromones. It’s all a mechanism to protect the baby, but it can sometimes lead to problems."

Kang Se-heon explained one of the dangers that could affect a pregnant Omega. A pregnant Omega couldn’t sense other Alphas’ pheromones. But just because they couldn’t perceive them didn’t mean they weren’t there. If an Omega was constantly exposed to Alpha pheromones without realizing it, it could put a strain on their body.

"That’s why it’s important to carry something that holds their Alpha’s scent or to relieve that accumulated burden by resting in their Alpha’s embrace."

Listening to Se-heon’s explanation, Tae-seo tried to recall the last time he had met another Alpha. He thought back to how he had felt during those encounters, but since it was all in the past, nothing came to mind. Instead, he shifted his focus to Se-heon’s pheromones.

Se-heon’s scent revitalized him. It restored his appetite, lifted his mood, and even seemed to give him energy he didn’t have before. It provided an overwhelming sense of stability, a vague but unshakable trust that Se-heon was someone who would protect him.

If that was the case, then wouldn’t other Alphas’ pheromones have the opposite effect?

The phone vibrated relentlessly, refusing to stop until it was answered. A hand emerged from the darkness, gripping the device as if trying to smother it. The vibrations dulled against the palm, but a faint, defiant hum still managed to escape between the fingers.

When the buzzing showed no signs of stopping, the hand flipped the phone over, forcibly silencing it. The moment the device went still, the hand disappeared back into the darkness. Soon after, the sound of movement followed, and a man stepped out.

Having climbed out of bed, Kang In-hyuk unconsciously wandered into the living room. He opened the fridge, grabbed a bottle of water, and took a drink. His eyes were blank, devoid of any focus.

The only thing he had done since his exams ended was come home and sleep. Yet, judging by the darkened sky outside, he must have been asleep for more than a day.

"Omega..."

After a long silence, the word slipped from In-hyuk’s lips. When he first heard that Yoon Tae-seo had manifested as an Omega, he had been slightly surprised. That was it. He wasn’t particularly shocked, nor did he have any reason to feel happy about it, so he hadn’t reacted much.

But what came after that was strange.

The thought of Tae-seo being an Omega refused to leave his mind. It surfaced when he was reading, when he was sleeping—it wouldn’t go away. He had no idea why.

It wasn’t like they were close anymore, but they had once been good friends. Maybe that was why? Because Tae-seo had finally gained the trait he had always wanted?

"That’s ridiculous."

In-hyuk let out a self-deprecating smirk. It wasn’t a simple matter of feeling happy for a friend.

For some reason, it bothered him.

And it wasn’t just that.

Tae-seo’s behavior had changed drastically.

They hadn’t gone back to being friends, nor had they returned to the constant bickering of the past. Instead, Tae-seo acted as if he had no interest in him at all.

Even when they did talk, Tae-seo kept things short and to the point before disappearing again. Then, after that awkward apology, their relationship had become even more ambiguous—almost like strangers.

And that gnawed at In-hyuk’s nerves. The more it scratched at him, the itchier it got.

Now, he found himself thinking about Tae-seo all the time.

"What the hell is this?"

Why couldn’t he stop thinking about Yoon Tae-seo?

...Why did Tae-seo act as if ◆ Nоvеlіgһt ◆ (Only on Nоvеlіgһt) he didn’t care about him?

What exactly did he want from Tae-seo?

Just then, his phone started vibrating from inside his room again. Someone was desperately trying to reach him, the relentless buzzing demanding his attention.

He placed the water bottle down and stared at the phone’s glow in the darkness.

For a moment, it seemed like he would go pick it up.

But instead, Kang In-hyuk turned and walked in the opposite direction.

Right now, whoever was trying to contact him didn’t matter.

Right now, he just wanted to see Yoon Tae-seo.

He needed to figure out exactly what this feeling was.
