The Overnight Chosen Wife: darling, kiss me deeper-Chapter 545: Deal or no deal (2)
Chapter 545: Deal or no deal (2)
"Shh!" He suddenly placed a finger on his lips and looked around them.
Lanni lowered her voice into a whisper. "Why are we shushing?"
"I don’t want to be recognized." He responded and she almost couldn’t stop herself from rolling her eyes.
Of course he didn’t want to be recognized. That was why he was hanging out in such a public place, with zero disguise and wearing clothes that screamed "superstar".
Perhaps the only reason why there wasn’t a horde of fans trying to get selfies with him and his autograph was because he looked nothing like he did on screens and magazines. His real appearance in itself was a disguise and she would not have recognized him if Xu Fangyang didn’t give her an unedited picture of him. She finally understood why NV’s signature appearance during concerts was their tiger masks. Axel was the only one who had never slid his mask off during a performance. She now knew why.
"Could you sign me your autograph? I love your songs." She pretentiously asked, then patted herself and looked bummed before turning to Xiehan. "Honey, do you have any notepad with you?"
"I can sign on your phone." He chuckled and held his hand out to receive her phone.
She had a drawing app which she rarely used since the screen was too small for her liking but she launched it anyway. He took a long time signing and when he returned it, there was a clean signature on her screen with a little heart at the end of it.
While Lanni could keep up the pretense of a fangirl and get an autograph that she would probably never look at for the rest of her life—because she would delete it as soon as they were out of Axel’s sight—, Xiehan was barely able to stop himself from flinging Axel meters away from his wife. He glared at the little heart on her screen and she could swear that the screen would have been in shatters if he could literally glare daggers.
Luckily, it could be chalked up to jealousy no matter how one were to look at it. Not many men could stand the thought of their wives idolizing another man so much, and he was doing a good job playing the part of a jealous husband even though the hatred was real.
Axel seemed to enjoy the situation. He looked at Xiehan. "You are a lucky man. She’s pretty."
"She doesn’t ever shut up about you." He lied through gritted teeth, just to make Lanni’s work easier. "Especially... well, I don’t remember its name but that’s because I don’t want to. She is always humming it whenever she’s in a bad mood."
"Maybe never." Lanni filled in. "One of your earliest songs, the last song you and your band mates produced before Storm left." She only knew the song because she had checked up Storm and found that it held a hefty amount of emotions. When she saw his brows scrunch up, she knew that she had hit a sore spot but widened her eyes.
"I’m so sorry! Please forgive my talkativeness. I forgot that what happened to Storm must have taken a toll on you. You are best friends. Crap, please forgive me."
She was not sorry. She was pushing for a reaction. She got none. The man merely grunted before moving on to a different topic.
No wonder he was able to fool so many people? He was a good pretender! If one were to witness the conversation, they would think that he was unwilling to talk about his brief because it brought him too much sorrow.
"We have to go. My husband and I should get home soon." She held Xiehan’s hand as she bid the fake superstar. The latter nodded with a smile that must have seen years of practice before the mirror.
...
Sure enough, the first thing she did was launch the drawing app on her phone and delete the damned autograph.
"I wasted so much of my acting skills and got nothing." She huffed.
"At least you got his number." He teased, not that he was happy about it.
"What are you talking about?"
She checked her recently launched apps and when she saw that her contacts was the last after the drawing app, she curiously launched it. She didn’t need to scroll anything. Axel was the first contact thanks to the automated alphabetical order.
Not only had the asshole drawn her a heart, but he had also added his contact number to her phone.
Even while knowing that she was married?! What a jerk. No wonder Storm had more fans than him even though many people said that he was more handsome than the former. Well, the edited version of him. Not only was he fake, but he had problems with his character as well.
As if reading her mind, Xiehan held her shoulders from the side as they walked back to their private room. "If he is anything like you described, coveting a married woman is within the scope of what he can do."
It still repulsed her.
When they got back, she was red from anger and he still had his arm around her shoulders, trying to assess the situation to see if she would need him for any part of it.
However, that was not how the people inside the room saw it.
"What were they doing outside for so long?" Cheng Yu slurred against Cedric’s shoulder.
The two had walked in on a game of truth and dare and the bottle was being spun just as they entered.
"Do you need to ask? They were obviously shagging in the bathroom!" Xiaoshi speculated, making everyone laugh and check them over as if there would be evidence of intimate activities if they did any.
"You’re all crazy. Lanni shook her head with a slight laugh and took her seat. "Guess who I just saw? It’s Axel."
For a while, everyone exchanged glances before Ruby asked, "Who?"
"Axel, the rockstar."
She still received blank stares. When she mentioned Storm, all the women looked heartbroken and broke into discussion about his case.
Lanni laughed in disbelief. No wonder Axel was so jealous of Storm. They had been in the same band before but all the others had innumerable fans while no one knew him in a group of ten, half of which were women?! What made it worse was the fact that Storm had become more popular soon after his departure.
She took out her tiny notepad from her purse and amid the jeers of her friends at her working at such a time, she quickly noted down the motive she had just found out.
