Chapter 79: The All-Knowing Saint! Part-2.

Colosseum, VVIP Area.

Looking at the panicking crowd from above, Zeil hurriedly dismissed his knights and told them to go help control the situation.

Once the knights left, a smirk appeared on Zeil’s face as he grabbed the wine glass from the nearby table and sipped it in a cheerful mood before speaking.

"As expected of you Saint Alex, you are really meticulous at your work..."

"I have been worried about my brother and father for so long, but you solved the problem so easily!"

"No matter how many praises I sing, words won’t do you justice!"

Alex, who was sitting on a seat hidden from public sight, smiled at Zeil’s words as he took a sip of tea before speaking.

"The problem hasn’t been solved yet... this is just us building a foundation; the real work hasn’t even begun..."

"So, don’t celebrate too early... only fools declare victory before absolute certainity... and you, little Zeil, are not a fool but an intelligent gentleman!"

Hearing Alex’s words, Zeil didn’t feel offended in the slightest; after working with Alex for several weeks, he had already started to get used to his weird mood swings!

Zeil knew that Alex was an unpredictable person, so it was better not to argue with him pointlessly.

"Talking about foundation, my father and oldest brother will return in this week..."

"The time of the final struggle is not too far... I have been waiting for this for years now; I kind of feel nervous now that the climax of the battle is approaching..."

Battles are not just fought on battlefields and training grounds; quite often, most wars are fought more in terms of diplomacy and logistics than head-on combat.

Count Foley and his son hadn’t even returned to the city of Ilma until now, but the entire city was gradually turning against them one by one, and they didn’t even know it!

"No offence, but your father is quite naïve person... he took away all of his trusted and powerful subordinates with him when he went on a tour..."

"If he had left a single loyal and powerful subordinate behind to deal with the official matters of the city, we wouldn’t have been able to do our thing so freely and openly!"

Although the count was far away, he was still the current ruler of the city, and if his trusted subordinates with decently good management capability were in the city, they would have easily suppressed the rumors.

Things wouldn’t have escalated so much as they have now with just a little bit of careful planning and mindfulness, but Count Foley failed to do that.

In battle, even a single millisecond of mistake can give your enemy a major advantage; thus, Count Foley had already lost this battle the moment he decided to be careless about the management of his territory!

"Haha, actually, he wanted to show off his power and wealth to the church of the goddess so as to improve the chances of the firstborn getting accepted..."

"Whatever ’Pathwalkers’ you see in the city right now are just those weak ones left behind to put on a show of still caring about the city... all the stronger and capable ones have left with him!"

"This is also the reason why they aren’t even able to control those random weak gladiators right now... they don’t have veterans in their line-up right now or the crowd would have already been taken care of..."

"My idiot brother and useless father are both too mindless to think about such complicated things so I am not too surprised..."

Zeil was very happy to insult his own father at any given chance, as he felt no kinship with his father, who had always favored the firstborn and had neglected him his entire life! 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺

"Talking about your brothers... I have heard enough about you, your father and the oldest son..."

"But nobody in the city seems to mention the ’second son’ of the count much... what’s the deal with him?"

Zeil was taken aback by Alex sudden change of the topic but he knew that Alex was the type to randomly change topics so he wasn’t too surprised and replied in a mocking voice,

"That idiot? Don’t even get me started; that fellow was born mentally retarded! He’s so dumb that he can’t even speak properly..."

"Nobody even cares about him and he’s just rotting in his separate mansion with the servants assigned to him..."

"But I hate him because Father cares more about that retard than me, who is much more intelligent and gifted among all three of us brothers, and yet he doesn’t favor me at all!"

Zeil’s expression turned furious just at the thought of his second brother, and he almost threw the wine glass on the floor in anger, but seeing that there were no maids or knights to clean up the aftermath, he decided not to do that.

"By the way... I am surprised that you don’t drink alcohol at all. before you came to the city, I heard rumours that you were a heavy drinker..."

"But look at you now, drinking tea like you are some kind gentlemen with a benevolent personality..."

Hearing Zeil’s teasing voice, Alex rolled his eyes as he leaned his back against the comfortable seat and replied in his usual arrogant voice,

"Nah, I don’t drink alcohol much because it blurs my brain and I don’t like the thought of losing control of mind and thinking ability..."

"Without my brain, I am just a weak, helpless brat with no real combat ability after all, so I keep myself sober most of the time..."

"Tea is the best for keeping yourself sober and sharp-minded... I can drink tea entire day without a break, you know..."

At Alex’s words, Zeil shrugged his shoulders as if he refused to believe Alex’s words and looked down at the bloodbath in satisfaction.

"It’s starting to get quite chaotic down there... hmm, is it time for your debut now?"

Hearing Zeil’s question, Alex smirked, put the empty teacup down, got up from his seat, and spoke.

"Yup... let’s get to work!"
