The People's God: Sacrificing Trillions to Ascend-Chapter 654 - Exchanging Hijutsu
Those attaining an Excellent in the Kokkai family received abundant resources. They received 200,000 gold per month as salary, as well as medicine that could increase one’s parameters. They could also pick a D-rated Hijutsu from the vault every month to learn.
Hanwu’s results were officially confirmed the next morning, and he received his promised rewards that same evening. Among these were two large stacks of paper notes, with each note denoting 1000 gold. He also received a month’s worth of medicine, which, taken over long periods of time, would increase one’s parameters.
As for the D-rated Hijutsu, he would have to head to the Kokkai family vault to pick it out himself. With Undying and Duel, Hanwu didn’t actually need to rely on the resources all that much. All he needed to do was keep fighting.
According to the original host’s memories, several sites outside the village were suitable for his purposes. Hanwu wanted to visit those areas soon to fill up his progress bar as quickly as possible, but he needed to make sure he was well prepared before he departed, as he was still a mere Apprentice in this civilization.
As a Major God, he could go without eating or drinking for a year or two, but as an Apprentice in the Giant Shadow Civilization, he would die from dehydration in three days. Even those of the most powerful rank, Shadows, weren’t exempt from this limitation.
However, as the Giant Shadow Civilization didn’t have any items resembling a Spatial Ring, he couldn’t bring that many supplies with him. Fortunately, there were spatial manipulation Ninjutsu with similar functions.
The only caveat was that these Ninjutsu were extremely difficult to learn and had a minimum requirement before one could attempt them. Moreover, even if one wanted to learn it, they would be hard-pressed to find a teacher and would likely have to learn it on their own.
Hanwu was confident in his capabilities to understand abstract concepts as long as he had the necessary information. Thus, he went to the vault in hopes of finding a scroll containing the Ninjutsu.
An old man guarded the vault. Apparently, the old man was the bodyguard of the village’s one and only Shadow in his prime, with his strength being second only to the Shadow. As he aged, he eventually returned to the family and took on some easy jobs.
When Hanwu asked the old man about Ninjutsu related to spatial manipulation, the old man stared at him and sighed. He remembered Hanwu as the weakling of the family—not someone capable of learning spatial manipulation Ninjutsu.
If not for someone informing him in the afternoon that Hanwu received an Excellent for his assessment, the old man would’ve ignored him. Even now, the old man assumed that Hanwu only scored an Excellent because his father used his position to manipulate the entire thing.
The old man hated nepotism and so decided not to engage Hanwu more than necessary, simply pointing him to a shelf further down the vault. Hanwu followed the old man’s guidance and reached the shelf.
The shelf was filled with scrolls and books of different Hijutsu. As promised, there were two scrolls containing the details of space-related Ninjutsu.
One was sealed off with a special seal that prevented anyone below a Master from opening it. If someone unqualified opened it, an alarm would sound, and the scroll would burn to ashes.
Hanwu glanced at the other scroll. It contained an E-rated Ninjutsu called Pocket Dimension Jutsu. With this Ninjutsu, one could create a pocket that existed outside this dimension.
The pocket wasn’t large and was usually used to hide sensitive information from one’s enemies, but the requirements to learn it were steep. One would need to have their Nin reach 8, Wisdom 7, and Control 7 to study it. This was clearly the reason so few ninjas were willing to learn spatial manipulation Ninjutsu.
Thankfully, with Duel as his cheat, Hanwu could easily learn the Pocket Dimension Jutsu. Moreover, as one D-rated Ninjutsu was equivalent to two E-rated ones, Hanwu could negotiate for another E-rated Ninjutsu for his monthly quota.
He wasn’t lacking in strength but in supporting jutsu. After rummaging around, he found a jutsu that he liked—an E-rated Genjutsu called Oversight. While technically called a Genjutsu, it was more accurate to call it a sensory-type jutsu, as its target was the user themselves.
Upon activation, the user would find themselves standing on an imaginary tower. They could then see everything around them from a bird’s-eye view, allowing them to see all the happenings within a set radius around them.
However, this Genjutsu required the user to have 7 in both their Gen and Wisdom parameters, making it quite difficult to learn. Even so, Hanwu chose it as his second E-rated jutsu. After registering his choices, the old man waved his arm to shoo him off.
Some time later, Kokkai Toutetsu approached the old man, having just recently roused from being knocked unconscious by Hanwu.
“Grandfather Wu, has Hanwu visited yet?”
The old man recognized Toutetsu as the young genius of the Kokkai family, with the potential to become a Master despite his youth. If they continued to invest resources into Toutetsu, he could even become a Shadow.
“He just left with two E-rated jutsu,” replied the old man.
“E-rated jutsu? What did he take?” Toutetsu asked nervously.
The old man pulled out the logbook for Toutetsu to read.
“E rated Ninjutsu: Pocket Dimension, and E rated Genjutsu: Oversight. What are these?” Toutetsu asked. “What do they do?”
“These two jutsu are useless because he can’t learn them with his parameters. Maybe not even in his lifetime.”
Toutetsu smiled before quickly composing himself. His defeat at Hanwu’s hands before all the elders had left him embarrassed and seeking revenge. Hanwu, don’t you dare think you can win against me with your tricks a second time.
Meanwhile, Hanwu had returned to his room. He couldn’t yet learn his two chosen jutsu due to his lacking parameters, so he would need to increase them as soon as possible. After all, he had no idea when the patriarch would send the next round of assassins. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
The duel with Toutetsu had earned him another two upgrade points, which he used on his two remaining E-rated Ninjutsu.
Substitute E became Swap D, which allowed him to swap his position with anything within a one-meter radius. This jutsu had admirably high potential. If he could extend the range and shorten the time needed to complete the seals, this jutsu could both save his life and piss the others off at the same time. It was extremely efficient in that sense.
Transform E became Transform D. While the jutsu itself didn’t change, the resulting transformation became more refined and realistic. Still, it was quite useless in direct combat.
With that, he had used up all of his upgrade points.
“I can’t stop here. I need to train harder.”
