The People's God: Sacrificing Trillions to Ascend-Chapter 665 - I Think He Needs Some Company
Hanwu stepped back, releasing Flesh Ascendant as he stared into Fusatsu’s eyes, trying to discern if the man was telling the truth.
Fusatsu’s eyes were calm and unreadable, even despite Hanwu’s experience in picking out liars. As if willing Hanwu to trust him, Fusatsu undid his transformation.
“The Reaper Seal took away the souls of my friends. I’m willing to join Rogue if it means I can save them,” Hanwu said.
Fusatsu didn’t fully believe his words, but neither could he ignore them. Still, he was aware Hanwu was likely only telling half-truths, with the part about his friends being true and the half about joining Rogue being a ruse.
Then again, every member of Rogue was a traitor of the eight ninja villages. None of them were trustworthy. Still, even though they didn’t trust each other, that didn’t stop them from terrorizing the ninja villages.
“If you join us, we’ll fulfill your wish to the best of our abilities,” promised Fusatsu.
“When can I start?” Hanwu asked in a rush. “Today, tomorrow, or the day after?”
Jing Jing’s sliver of soul was stored in the server of the Transmigrate Helmet. While she could detect the rest of her soul when in the same region, and the presence of Hanwu’s main body would allow for a more accurate read, it would take ten more years before they arrived!
Hanwu could wait, but he feared that Qin Shuang’s and Jing Jing’s souls couldn’t. The faster he found them, the sooner he could rescue them. Even if he couldn’t save them yet, he could at least protect them from any further mishaps.
“If you want Rogue to help fulfill your wish, you need to first contribute to the organization,” Fusatsu said plainly. “I have an accurate report stating that a Giant Sage is gathering a force of regular giants near Water Mist Village. It wants to destroy that village. I need you to go and capture the Giant Sage and bring it back.”
Hanwu frowned. “How much can you help me if I succeed?”
“Lord Huangquan is powerful. The organization won’t want to offend him just because of a brand-new member, but I can tell you the three locations where he is most likely to be. It’ll be up to you to find him.”
Hanwu mulled it over and decided to trust him for the time being. After all, this was his only lead to find Lord Huangquan so far. He had to seize it.
However, if Rogue was tricking him, he silently swore to destroy them for good.
“Know that no one in this organization can endure my wrath if I find that you’re lying,” Hanwu warned.
Fusatsu nodded and pointed at another member of Rogue. “We usually operate in pairs to increase the success rate of our missions. He’s the medic of our organization, and he will be your partner for this mission.”
“Hello, I am Yakushi Nan,” he introduced politely. Then, his tone shifted. “Your ability to regenerate yourself is amazing. It’s even stronger than the S-rated Hijutsu Cellular Genesis. If possible, could I dissect you to see what’s inside?”
A chill ran up Hanwu’s spine. This so-called medic wasn’t focused on treatment but dissection instead. That was probably why he was branded a traitor and hunted by the ninja villages.
Hanwu had no intention of being dissected and swiftly rejected him, “Don’t try anything funny on me, or I’ll make it so you’ll never laugh again.”
“I like your style, and I like your body even more. I hope we’ll have a pleasant cooperation.” Yakushi Nan showed no sign of fear whatsoever, instead staring at him with a chilling fervor.
Hanwu ignored him and asked Fusatsu for more information about his target and the mission. Fusatsu gave him the scroll containing the necessary information, but Hanwu found he couldn’t read it at all. The contents had been encrypted, and as a transmigrator, he couldn’t begin to parse the logic of the words and what they meant.
Yakushi Nan stepped up to translate the information for him. “The Giant Sage that’s going to attack the Water Mist Village is called Assault Giant. It’s currently hidden a hundred kilometers away in a dense forest. The Assault Giant has several enhanced capabilities, such as learning, regeneration, and rallying power...”
After listening carefully to Yakushi Nan’s explanation, Hanwu gained a rough understanding of what the Assault Giant was like. Still, these were only surface-level observations from the informants, and Hanwu had a better way to learn more.
He sat down and checked on the Maw Giant still trapped in the Four Guardians Seal within him. “Tell me everything you know about the Assault Giant, including its strengths and weaknesses. And don’t try to trick me. You know how strong I am. You won’t be able to handle me if I get angry.”
“I will never betray my brother, never!” refused the Maw Giant. The Assault Giant was his brother, one of the nine Giant Sages.
Hanwu changed tactics. “Look at you trapped here while the Assault Giant remains free to roam the outside, eating and drinking anything it pleases. It even has several giants as its lackeys. It's living a good life while you’re stuck here. Don’t you want someone to accompany you here?”
The Maw Giant was convinced. Hanwu was right; it was lonely here. A companion would be nice. It needed a real friend, not a terrorist like Hanwu, and the Assault Giant was indeed a good candidate.
“Are you sure you can drag it into the Four Guardians Seal?”
“I’m not sure, but I can try. Think about how much better it would be for you if I succeed.”
The Maw Giant nodded and told him everything about the Assault Giant. Hanwu was thrilled. As expected, there was pertinent information about the Assault Giant that was critical to the mission, but that the informants had failed to detect.
With this information in hand, Hanwu was confident that he could drag the Assault Giant into the Four Guardians Seal.
