Chapter 343: End of War?

King Danny! King Danny! King Danny!

Like a chant, Danny's soldier kept on shouting until their throat became hoarse. Especially the veterans who had once fought under the regime of Sylvia Kingdom. Even then, they had never experienced such a quick victory over the Armen Kingdom's soldiers.

"You... Release me at once. I'm the future King of Armen. It would be best if you didn't make an enemy of me. Let me go; I will... Arghh!" Danny gave a chop on the back of the Second prince's royal neck and made him fall into a temporary sleep.

After handing over the Armen's second prince to one of his puppets, Danny turned to look at a particular place where the Armen Kingdoms' defeated soldiers were handing their weapons over to his men.

'This is not the right place to greet them. Let's wait until everything is taken care of,' thought Alex. During the battle, he always kept a part of his attention on Elaina and Melinda. In fact, they were supposed to come in his path when Alex was chasing the second prince and his royal guards. But Alex by-passed them by changing direction and coming back on track so that the girls do not accidentally get hit by one of the Master archer's arrows, who didn't care about the life and death of his Kingdom's soldiers.

Alex also noticed one peculiar thing about Elaina. After one of the royal guards had accidentally revealed the second prince's identity, Elaina immediately lost her calm.

She had even turned back and wanted to run in the second prince's direction but was forcefully held by Melinda, who reacted in time. There is definitely bad blood between the second prince and Elaina.

Elaina seemed to sense something and turned to see where Danny was standing. Their eyes met for a brief moment, but Danny casually turned his head in another direction to talk with his subordinates.

Elaina stared at Danny's back as he walked away.

"Next!...Oy Miss! Come on, hand over your weapons and possessions. We haven't got all day."

Elaina took off her scabbard, holding the sword around her waist, and handed it to the soldier who called her before.

Melinda had already given up all her possessions before Elaina, and she was now waiting for her friend to do the same.

...

Rushing over, Sparrow said, "The enemy camp has been broken, their army provisions have fallen entirely under our control; will the next step be to storm the City ahead directly?"

The Slyvia Kingdom had built three cities on its western borders. They were nearly impregnable because of the terrain they were built upon in the past. Because of these three cities, the Armen Kingdom was never able to invade the Sylvia Kingdom.

But after the civil war, the Sylvia Kingdom lost two of its three strongholds. Alex wanted to re-establish the past borders with the Armen kingdom and to do that; there is one last city left to recover.

"Yes, but leave sufficient soldiers behind to watch over the prisoners."

"Yes, my lord." Sparrow saluted and then went away to make the preparation. Good news also came from General Parson and Nora's side. Both of them had taken the situation and the enemy under control on their side.

After the news of the second prince and Commander Iran being captured by the enemy leader spread around the forest, the Armen soldiers fighting against General Parson and Nora surrendered as their morale and upper leadership were utterly crushed.

Anyone that tried to escape was either killed or captured.

About an hour after, Danny led his army towards Elver City. Its size was comparable to the Slyvia Kingdom's capital city, but its defenses were much better.

Elver City was built on a flat top plateau. The walls' height and thickness made it extremely difficult for anyone to capture it using standard siege warfare. Only one soldier was required in Elver's city defense wall to stop a few dozens of enemy soldiers.

Alex had already prepared to capture the city before the morning battle began. He had sent his men to infiltrate the city and do what they have done best until now. Help Alex in opening the city gates from inside.

By the time the sun started to set in the west, Danny and his troops successfully entered the Elver city without spilling much blood.

It was all thanks to Commander Iran, who had left insufficient men to guard the city walls and for not leaving a capable officer to hold the city.

Commander Iran had never thought they would lose in this war so terribly, and that is why he didn't bother to make any contingency plan if they lost.

After capturing Elver city, Danny held a small celebration for their victory. More so for reason when General Parson Wright took an oath of fealty towards Danny in front of every soldier.

Danny kept a smiling face all the time, but his mind was entirely elsewhere. He knew from his puppets about the meeting of Viscount Bardrick and the Barbarians living in the first of Caragan.

Though Alex had no idea about their meeting's content, he knew they had shaken hands with each other. The barbarians' team that followed behind the viscount and the movements of the barbarians tribes near the southern border was enough for Alex to know that this war was far from over.

Fortunately, it will take at least a day time for the barbarians to complete their preparation. That means they will only start to move to attack Baron Regan's territory tomorrow or the day after that. Alex could do many things in that much time. For example, making sure Viscount Bardrick is not able to see tomorrow's sun. It will automatically break any deal that Viscount had made with the barbarians.

"My Lord, do you want to celebrate with us tonight?" Nora suddenly whispered into Danny's ear when Parson Wright and other soldiers started to take their leave after the feast.

Nancy blushed a little. She already knew what Nora had said in Danny's ear.

"Sure, why not!" Alex agreed immediately. As for Viscount Bardrick, Alex could afford to let him live for a few more hours.
