The Princess Kidnapping System Made Me OP-Chapter 31: Misunderstood Dragon (2)
Chapter 31: Misunderstood Dragon (2)
Wise sat in a well lit room while Rosalind sat on the chair by his side, leaving two free chairs in front of them.
There was a gentle sound of clicking cutlery and quiet noise as the guests conversed with each other.
The restaurant was exuberant with a large glowing chandelier above them hanging on a ceiling overlayed with a large piece of art spanning several meters.
All cutlery from the spoons to the plates was all golden. Even the base of the goblet was engraved with gold.
A truly fancy restaurant, at least by this world’s standards...
"I’m very, very sorry about earlier," Rosalind said, a worried expression on her face. "You’re not mad are you?"
Rosalind had screamed so loud that Wise had wondered how her tiny body was capable of producing such sounds.
After successfully alerting half of the entire inn, Wise had to spend the last thirty minutes explaining that it was a simple misunderstanding!
He sighed and played with the napkin on his plate. "Me, mad? Never..."
As the words left his mouth, Rosalind winced and leaned toward him, it was as though she was on the verge of tears.
"Please, I’m sorry... I’ll be good, I promise!" She said, her voice taking a pleading tone which made Wise cock a brow.
’What?’
He had planned on teasing her a little for the fun of it, but Rosalind’s reaction was very much concerning.
’I’ll be good? What kind of life did she live before now?’
Wise smiled at her and sat up. "I’m not angry Rosa, I’m just playing with you. So tell me... how was your day?"
Rosa let out a sigh of relief before settling back in her chair. "My day..."
She paused and smiled. "There wasn’t much to do so I think I slept through most of the time..."
"Must have been boring..." Wise said apologetically.
"Not really... I’m used to not doing much."
Wise relaxed deeper into his chair. "Is that so? So before you know what started chasing you, what did you do?"
Rosa’s grey eyes squinted in confusion. "What did I do?"
"I mean where did you work?" Wise quickly added.
"Ohh." Her eyes suddenly brightened up, only to dim once more. "I... I think I was an assistant?"
She held onto her head and paused, as though trying to pull something out of the deepest corners of her mind.
The more she did, the more her fingers vibrated on the table. Wise did not fail to notice this, he grabbed onto her hand and smiled at her reassuringly.
"Forget about that, let’s discuss something else."
Rosa smiled weakly. "Alright..."
Wise had not failed to notice the strange circumstances Rosa was in. First of all, a demon had chased her and her alone in a city full of potential victims.
Not only was it difficult for a demon to enter a city such as this, but to target her —That was something only Demidons could do...
Secondly, she was in such a deplorable state when he met her. Had the demon been chasing her for weeks? If that was the case how was she still alive?
There was something off somewhere, and Wise was determined to find out what. Only when he did would he be able to properly help her.
"Did you grow up in this city? Or did you move here?"
Rosa’s mood immediately brightened. "I was born in the third district in summer, about the time when the roses were in bloom, hence my name."
"My dad was a carpenter and my mom a local tailor. At the time I had a few friends because I wasn’t very sociable, just Billy and Lenora at the time."
Rosa’s finger twitched slightly but she continued as though nothing had happened, a smile plastered on her face. ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com
"It was fun, right up till the point where I died—"
An unsettling silence enveloped them. The noise from the crowd and the sound of the clicking cutlery blurred into the background.
At that point, it was only Wise and Rosalind, both staring at each other, both smiling.
Suddenly, the waiter placed a tray of food right on their table and it was like the sound came back all at once.
Wise picked up his napkin and tucked it in his shirt to prevent the food from staining his shirt.
"Sorry, I seem to have missed out on the last bit. You said it was fun up to the point where?" He asked, his question lingering in the air.

Rosa’s finger smacked against the table and the expression on her face suddenly changed.
She seemed confused and stared around as though seeing the room for the first time. But when her eyes landed on Wise, she seemed relieved.
"Sorry Wise, I might have spaced out there. I was born in the third district in summer, about the time when the roses were in bloom, hence my name—"
Wise picked up his wine, twirling it in his grip, he then proceeded to inhale it before taking a sip.
He watched as Rosa repeated everything she had said earlier without leaving a single detail out.
It was like a broken record player, set to go back and forth in a forever ending loop.
As she went over those words, her finger would sometimes twitch, other times her facial expression would break for some time before returning to normal.
Wise was sure of it now, something was very wrong with Rosa, he felt a bitter feeling brewing in his heart, an anger that if allowed to bloom would turn chaotic.
People didn’t end up like this by their own will. He had heard of cases like this back on earth, people who were tortured to the point their minds were broken.
Just how much of Rosa’s mind was left in check?
And who was responsible for this?
Her deplorable state and earlier reaction to his sulking suddenly made sense.
Wise would find out who did this in due time. As for now, he was determined to let Rosa enjoy her evening as much as she could.
"Rosa..." Wise said, cutting her off.
"Yes?" The girl asked innocently. "Her face brightened up with a smile... a forced smile, a fake smile.
"Have you ever been to a bathhouse?"
Wise decided to get at least one genuine smile before the end of the day.
