Chapter 323: A new turn - III

<The royal palace of melenmore>

Chaos was going to come in the morning. That would be the first thing when the sun rose and declared it to be another day. It was going to be a dreadful day. Probably one of those to be written down in the books of history and to be read by the generations to come.

After all, several people died during a dinner which had never happened in the history of this kingdom before.

I stood by my father’s side who was slammed on the table, dead to the world I was now in. His eyes wide open and froth coming out of his mouth.

Was this how he was looking at my mother when she died?

It was where the head of the country would sit. The King or the Queen by blood who was now me.

I let him have his crown in the last moments of his life. He had done a lot to achieve it. He plot for it, he fucked for it and he killed it. He had definitely done a lot and that involved coming closer to my mother and making sure that she fought tooth and nail to get married to him.

I guess he deserved to wear it until the end after all, that was what got him killed.

The room was silent. The entire kingdom was silent, Chaos would ensue you tomorrow and I would have to decide how to put the blame on.

I silently moved towards where my stepbrother was sleeping. There was a reason why he had received the cake in a different light than everyone else. He had been given a sleeping potion and the others were given a permanent one. He was the one I was going to blame for everything.

Augustus was the perfect man for this. Half blooded prince who was always in doubt for his succession and ended up poisoning almost everyone except for the princess. Why, one might ask. Because the princess was not invited to the dinner.

His crown was the one I took away from his hand. He was the only one who did not deserve it. His mother did, in the least but not him. Mira Had been more ambitious than him and worked hard to receive the title of the Queen as a mistress. He, on the other hand, had done absolutely nothing.

Taking the crown in my hand, I walked out of the dining hall where my trusted night was waiting. Slowly and steadily, I had begun the process of every thing and one of those processes had been choosing my knights.

Stopping beside him, I said, "The prince has been found guilty of manslaughter and treason. Throw him in the dungeons. He shall be executed publicly tomorrow."

"Yes, your majesty." Ser Harold nodded his head at the two men standing behind him. They got to work immediately while he followed me to my room.

He knew what I had done. I had a suspicion that he always knew I was going to do this but it was for the better because I had his support.

Sir Harold resumed his possession outside my bedroom like his father had done for my mother when she was the queen. I had to set my priorities and order and the first one was right to my sister until I had the time for it. From tomorrow, I would have to choose a new Court, rein the strings of chaos in the kingdom where people would find out that every male descendant of the throne is no longer in this world and plan my own coronation.

I felt the headache coming in.

Dipping the tip, I began to write.

’Do you remember how we used to never discuss the plan where we would have to resort to killing everyone? Well, I have to do that today and if I must say, I do not regret it. It was probably one of the easiest things I have done this life.’

’I am sure that you will be disappointed, my sister. Killing was never the end of it, of anything and according to you, they were always other alternatives that I couldn’t. However, unfortunately, there were none here.’

I changed the pages.

’I would not ask for your forgiveness, because I know I will not get it. However, I would appreciate it if you could let it go. Because one of the first events for me to do is to bring you home followed by little Catherine. She is safe, tucked far away into the deep end of the country. Away from any dangerous or life-threatening situations.’

I closed my eyes and considered what I am going to write next. Somehow, I have never been so open in my feelings as my sister Genevive has been and I have been thankful for that until now. I wanted to share some of my burden with her, even though it was through a letter, I was ready to let some of it go but I could not bear to.

So, I carefully covered my words so that she could understand where I was coming from and not take it to her heart.

’I have a lot of those changes coming my way, none of them or were coming and I can tell that. I will try to get you home. That is my promise. However, there is one thing that I cannot promise you and that is how quickly I will be able to get it done. Here, I ask for your forgiveness, I plead for it. I have to get everything sorted out in my country and I cannot afford to let go of even one soldier for this. Please, if my soldiers take time to come to get you, I want you to understand that I’m preparing for everything I possibly can to make your stay permanent.’

I sighed before signing my name. This was it. Now, I just had to wait for the morning to come.
