The raise of Maureen Smith and her Good Luck System-Chapter 106: Betrayed by Bianca
Noella never thought she would be confronted by Maureenβs parents.
She immediately shrunk back, explaining,
"This isnβt how you think it is. ππΏπ²ππ°πππ§πππ²π₯.πππ
We were just joking as friends."Chris became angrier, "Joking between friends? So if I throw you into the stinking ditch, can it also be considered as a joke?
Do you want to try that out?" Saying this, Chris angrily tried to drag Noella.
Even though Chris was young, he was after all a boy and had some strength.
He actually managed to drag Noella towards a foul-smelling ditch next to the hotel.
Noella stumbled, her foot stepping into the ditch, an immediate icy and stinking feeling creeping up from her toes.
She was both angry and anxious, pushing Chris away, "Chris, what are you doing? We know each other at least!"
Chris yelled back, "We know each other, you say? If I knew earlier you were the one bullying Maureen, I would never have allowed you to step into our house!"
Watching the two kids about to fight, the spectacle of a boy and a girl fighting at the hotel entrance, Mr. Smith looked stern and barked, "Enough!" Noella shoved Chris away, climbed out of the ditch, and with help from two girls, she managed to stand still.
Mr. Smith stared at Noella and said, "Youβre Noella, right? I will have a word with your class teacher later.
Do you really think Maureen has no family? Do you know that what youβre doing is called school violence?
You call this joking? Is this the kind of joke students your age should make?" Noellaβs face turned pale instantly.
Before doing all of this with the other girl, she never thought Smithβs family would come.
Today was just an ordinary day, why was the Smithβs entire family here? It was just a trivial matter, they just threw a bag and had a minor conflict, hadnβt Maureen already retaliated? β
Could it be that Maureen had reported these minor issues to her family? She never used to do that.
If Maureenβs father really reported this to their class teacher Miss Miller, then wouldnβt her parents be called in?
Her family had always been strict. If they found out about this, she would surely face a punishment! Noella was in utter panic, hastily turning to look at Bianca.
If it werenβt for Bianca, she had no hatred for Maureen, and wouldnβt do such a thing. Biancaβs heart was throbbing wildly.
Irritation and anxiety flooded her heart at once.
While resenting Noella for acting impulsively and getting her involved, she was both angry and anxious, wondering why her family made such a big fuss about a trivial matter.
Now all her classmates were watching, knowing her family paid attention to Maureen β perhaps tomorrow it would spread throughout school that she had fallen out of favor at home.
Biancaβs first reaction was to disassociate herself from Noella, casting the blame elsewhere.
She immediately asked her father, Oliver, her mother, and Mike in panicked consternation: "What happened?!"
She then turned to Noella in shock: "I wasnβt in the classroom this afternoon, did you throw Maureenβs backpack into the trash can?
Bianca, how could you do this?" Noella and three other girls: "..." Bianca changed her countenance so swiftly that it left them buzzing in confusion, unable to react.
While they were still trying to process this, Bianca quickly stood behind her father and said to Noella with an unpleasant expression:
"You need to apologize to Maureen.
If you ever do this again, we wonβt be friends anymore."
Seeing that Bianca was unaware of this incident, the faces of her family members looked a little better.
If she had known and stood by while her friends bullied Maureen β that wouldnβt be the Bianca they recognized
. Only Chris and Mike didnβt quite believe that Bianca had nothing to do with this.
Mike, with his arms crossed and stroking his chin, studied Biancaβs expressions and actions, feeling like it was all an act, and a bit clumsy at that.
If she truly didnβt know anything, why would she be so flustered? "Lying!" Chris pointed at Bianca, turned his head and said to his mother and Oliver: "Dad, Mom, last time I said she slandered Maureen in front of the art department teacher for the chance to be the host, you all didnβt believe me, but this time you shouldββ" Bianca interrupted Chris: "Chris, now is not the time to bring up old grudges and our past disputes."
She turned and said sternly to Noella and the others: "If I had known you were doing this behind my back, I wouldnβt have left the classroom this afternoon.
No wonder Maureen was so angry when I returned, I couldnβt figure out why."
Noella and the others were dumbfounded,
Bianca secretly thought to herself, she was only doing this for self-defense, there was no other choice for her.
Biancaβs fatherβs face was terrifyingly cold, "Enough, letβs leave the matter at that for now! I will definitely have a talk with your Classroom teacher.
There are still a few days left for the training camp, you children should stop causing troubles!" Noella felt wronged inside her heart, nearly shedding tears from being chided by Biancaβs father.
She wiped her eyes, then spun around and ran into the hotel.
The other girls glanced at each other, then followed suit.
"You should also go back and rest. Weβll discuss this matter after the training camp ends."
Biancaβs father frowned at her. Realizing that anything more said could result in a mistake, Bianca dared not say anything else.
She nodded her head, and then turned into the hotel. Upon Bianca entering, a few members of the Smith family couldnβt help but look back at her retreating figure.
They were not sure if it was their imagination, but the recent Bianca seemed quite different from before.
If it was because Maureen had left home and their attention had shifted to Maureen, causing her to feel unhappy and wanting to vie for attention, they could understand that.
But in their view, Bianca had always been considerate.
The worst she could do was to act spoiled and complain.
Yet, why were all these matters of ostracizing Maureen related to Bianca? Or perhaps Biancaβs true character was not as innocent as they perceived. ...
The Smith family had waited for five to six hours today, yet they had not even seen a glimpse of Maureen.
Their mood was already bad, and the current incident had worsened.
They began to second-guess themselves.
Did they do something wrong in driving their own child away for a child with no blood relation to them? Were they out of their minds? Maureen and Liam had returned through the back door of the hotel.
The Smith family had been waiting for almost the entire night without seeing Maureen β their anxiety throughout the night can be imagined.
Eventually, they could not stand it anymore.
Mrs. Smith had a splitting headache and popped a painkiller in the car β Oliver would have to go to the company early the next morning.
Out of desperation, Mr. Smith left gifts at the hotelβs reception, to ask the front desk to give them to Maureen the next day.
They then drove the same route back as when they came. However, the atmosphere in the car was more stifling on their way home.
==========
Bianca had just returned to the hotel room, when she had an argument with Noella.
"Iβm asking you, donβt you know that I wanted to throw away Maureenβs schoolbag?"
Noella asked, "You groaned and sobbed two nights ago, complaining about how everyone in your family is only caring about Maureen, ignoring you altogether.
It was out of indignation for you that I did this! I whispered to the person next to me before I threw it.
You heard it, and said it wasnβt right for you to intervene, so you left...This is what you called βdoing this behind your backβ?"
"Bianca, how can you be so shameless?" Noella finally spat those words out. She finally realized why before, Ann said that Bianca always hid behind them, letting them lead.
It was because they were good friends that they always defended Bianca, thinking Maureen, an βillegitimate daughterβ, had the audaciously to snub Bianca, that they wanted to teach Maureen a lesson on behalf of Bianca.
But now, "Are we good sisters when you need us, and told to roll when you donβt? You enjoy seeing us being used, jumping around, donβt you?" "Calm down," Bianca frowned, glancing at the other rooms in the hallway, "Many people live on this floor, do you need to wake up Teacher Brown?
Noella could not calm down, her anger was at the boiling point, looking at Biancaβs indifferent face, she felt extreme regret for giving her trust.
"You can fend for yourself." With that, Noella stormed off into her own room.
She would never help Bianca again in the future.
Bianca watched her walking into the room, slamming the door shut, a wave of irritation washed over her face.
It felt like her heart was being crushed by an invisible boulder.
Friends, family, she was losing these, one by one.
But why does Maureen have everything? The root cause of all this, was Maureen running away from home.
Only then did her family start to take notice of her. Bianca bit her lip and turned to enter her room.
She opened her computer and downloaded a boarding school application form. As if anybody could just run away from home. Bianca believed that similarly, the Smith family wouldnβt allow her to live alone on the streets, even if there was no blood relation.
Yet, they had the foundation of the past fifteen years of emotional ties.
Moreover, her biological parents were nowhere to be found now, and the Smith family knew, she only had them.
