Chapter 139 - 139: Just as Expected, a Lolicon

Inside the pink room, pink wallpaper adorned the walls. There weren't many furnishings, but it was adequately equipped.

This was the third floor of Fujino's house, recently decorated and lent to Miyano Akemi for lodging.

Ai Haibara sat dazed on the corner of the bed, arms wrapped tightly around the heart-patterned duvet, rubbing her head as she recalled the last moments before losing consciousness.

She lowered her head and noticed she was wearing a properly sized set of pajamas.

Panda-style fleece pajamas.

Judging from the lingering scent, they were newly bought.

The panda pajamas had a fluffy white pompom at the back, like a tail. The hood had two black and white circular protrusions, like ears or something.

Looking at the cute panda pajamas she was wearing, her feelings were complex.

Sniffing gently, she could still smell the fragrance of body wash on her skin. Someone must have given her a bath.

Her heart sank.

She remembered being picked up by a lolicon before she passed out.

A lolicon... she might as well be dead.

"Feeling better?"

Just then, a soft female voice sounded.

The disheartened Ai Haibara looked up and saw a beautiful woman holding a cup of brown sugar water, looking at her with concern.

"Sister?!"

"Sister?"

Miyano Akemi entered the room, carrying a pot of brown sugar water, and approached the bed. "You were calling out 'sister' in your sleep just now..."

"Not a sister?"

Ai Haibara looked stunned.

Though it was only for a fleeting moment, she had mistaken the woman before her for her sister...

The woman before her did have a few similar features to her sister.

But in details and various other aspects, they were completely different.

Black hair, black eyes... completely ruled out.

Though these could be disguised.

But size was something that couldn't be faked.

Moreover, she knew her sister had been killed by the Organization...

Snapping back to reality, she shook her head and asked 'Fujino Akemi' puzzledly, "You are..."

"My name is Fujino Akemi. This is my room."

Miyano Akemi smiled gently.

"Fujino... Akemi?"

Ai Haibara tilted her head, her small face showing confusion.

Not only was her appearance somewhat similar, even her name was so alike, even her smile...

"Are you feeling unwell anywhere?"

Saying this, Miyano Akemi handed the cup of brown sugar water to Ai Haibara. "My younger brother said he found you in a puddle. You might have caught a cold. Drinking some brown sugar water might make you feel better."

So he was her younger brother...

She had thought...

In that case, the clothes she was wearing now must have been changed by the sister!

Since it wasn't that guy who changed them, then he probably didn't give her a bath either!

Hmm, definitely not!

It must have been this big sister who helped her. This woman must have been the one who bought and changed her clothes after taking her home. These cute clothes... and the under... there's no way that guy would... that's it!

Definitely, absolutely must be!

Thinking this, she breathed a sigh of relief.

Ai Haibara took the brown sugar water. Feeling the warmth through her fingertips, she paused.

Strangely, she felt a long-lost sense of security with this woman named Fujino Akemi.

Perhaps because she resembled her sister so much.

Taking a few sips, feeling the warmth in her stomach, she said softly, "Thank you..."

"You're welcome."

Miyano Akemi waved dismissively with a gentle smile. "But you should thank my younger brother, since he was the one who brought you back from the street."

"Akemi-nee, dinner's ready."

Fujino pushed open the bedroom door and saw the loli on the bed, staring straight at him.

Stare...

Fujino saw the little loli's gaze and chuckled.

He then glanced at the half-finished brown sugar water in her hand, feeling somewhat conflicted again.

If he had brought in the brown sugar water,

this loli would probably suspect him of poisoning it, right?

Miyano Akemi chuckled and asked Ai Haibara,

"Want to come eat dinner with us? Fujino-kun's cooking is quite good, you know."

"I'm just staying with relatives. If I don't go back, they'll be worried."

Ai Haibara shook her head.

Then her stomach emitted an undignified rumble.

Her face turned red to her ears.

"You're still very weak. Wait until after you eat before you leave." Miyano Akemi smiled.

"I'm troubling you..."

Ai Haibara got out of bed, face flushed. Just as her feet touched the ground, she felt a sharp pain in her rear.

She turned curiously to look at the white pompom behind her, looking somewhat flustered.

"You had a really high fever,"

Fujino noticed Ai Haibara's strange expression, explaining,

"I gave you a fever reducer shot."

Ai Haibara: "?!"

After a moment of silence, her face turned even redder.

Fourth floor, at the dining table in Fujino's bedroom.

Fujino, Ai Haibara, and Miyano Akemi sat around the square table.

Several plates of fragrant and delicious dishes made by Fujino were placed on the table.

Ai Haibara, wearing the panda pajamas, sat on the chair, awkwardly picking up a piece of braised pork.

Looking around, for a moment, she seemed to recall a long-past memory.

Her sister seemed to have sat in that same spot...

She hadn't experienced such a warm occasion in a long time.

It felt a bit unfamiliar.

Miyano Akemi held her rice bowl, taking a few bites occasionally, then looked at Ai Haibara, initiating conversation.

"Speaking of which, little girl, you seemed to be calling out 'sister' in your sleep. Were you staying at your older sister's place?"

Ai Haibara replied calmly, "My sister is dead."

Awkward silence ensued...

"Speaking of which, did you, Akemi-nee, help me change these clothes?"

Just then, Ai Haibara asked curiously.

"Eh?"

Miyano Akemi looked stunned. She felt that this 'older sister' term had awakened something strange deep inside her.

Snapping back to reality, she shook her head. "No, you were already wearing that when you were brought back..."

Ai Haibara: "?"

Her gaze turned to Fujino, seemingly seeking confirmation.

Fujino noticed the girl's pitiful, almost hopeful, expression. After thinking for a moment, he replied, "Your clothes were soaked through with dirty water, so I took you to a nearby shopping mall and bought a few sets..."

Saying this, he pointed towards the bags on the sofa. "Remember to take those clothes with you when I drop you off home later."

Ai Haibara: "..."

Instantly, she felt utterly hopeless.

This guy really was a lolicon, wasn't he?

A strange emotion surged in her heart, and her face flushed again.

Although her body had shrunk, her mind was still that of an eighteen-year-old girl!

Oh well, can't blame the guy.

After all, she looked like a six or seven-year-old on the outside.

She looked at Fujino, her expression somewhat strange, but after a moment, she said awkwardly, "Thank you..."
