Chapter 276: Never Forget Your Vows

"Turns out pirates have good shit, who could have known," Kraven said, amused.

"You’re high," Ekko uttered, looking back at the almost finished roll.

"Am I?"

"It’s a rare sight, Lord Raven."

Kraven chuckled. "I’m not high, just letting the flavour guide me. You should, too."

Ekko flicked the remaining roll into the sea, having no intention of taking another drag. That was clearly something strong.

"Do you have any plans for when we get to Skull Isle, Lord Raven?" he asked, hoping he could get a straight answer.

"I believe you should ask Isadora that. She’s the mastermind. But you do know that, don’t you?"

"I do."

"Is there a reason you won’t speak to her directly?"

"I figured if I want to speak with her, I’d have to go through you first."

There was a moment of silence before Kraven grinned broadly, white teeth on full display. "Relax, I don’t see you as a threat. You’re the only one who wasn’t interested." He made a curious face. "Not interested? You were never, weren’t you?"

"She is Lady Raven. My interest is only about the devotion I have for her, nothing more."

"Hmm..." Kraven pulled out another roll, using his tongue to seal the wrap. "Does the past find you, Ekko?"

Ekko stiffened at Kraven’s abrupt question. As expected of his master, even though he was under the influence, he could discern what burdened him.

He may have carried the weight of this mark for years, but his master could always see through it.

"Your past is gone. Your past does not matter, or have you forgotten the vows you took to become a Faceless?"

It was always those words he used to remind him of the path he had chosen. And Ekko would always reply with...

"I haven’t forgotten, Lord Raven."

Kraven stroking the match on the bulwark and lit the end of the roll. "Better enjoy this while I can."

"Who in seven gods’ name took my specials!" a voice roared through, as One-hand Merry stumbled forward when he caught the terrifying fae casually smoking what he assumed was his.

"Is there a problem?"

He gulped. "N-No... just cursing my fate of having one of me hands and rolls taken from the Reaper. Tragic." He chuckled.

Kraven deliberately took a drag and released a cloud of smoke from his nostrils. "Not many are blessed with tragic fates." He pointed to him. "You’re one of the few luckiest ones, rejoice."

"Look, I know I overstep with the lassie, but you don’t need to torture me. Why don’t you just kill me and be done with it?"

"Much fun watching you shit your pants each time you see me. Maybe when I have my fill, I’ll let Ekko here finish you off. Agreed?"

"I’m ready when you give the order, Lord Raven."

Merry sweated profusely. "Y-You kill me, and my crew will return the favor. I’m the captain of this ship. Do you think they’ll let you off when you take my head?"

"Nahhh," Kraven heckled. "You and your maggots would wriggle as nature wills it."

"You’re just as high as I am." He brought out his flintlock. "I can’t aim right, what makes you think you can swig your dagger at—"

In lightning speed, something cut through the top of his ear.

Kraven’s tongue swayed his bottom lip. "Does that answer your question?"

Merry blinked before pissing his pants. "Got it."

Isadora stepped forward, seeing the scene. Does she even need to ask? She walked to the dagger pinned to the wooden wall and yanked it out.

"There she is, my mate! Come and kiss me, darling."

Isadora’s cheeks ran hot. "W-What’s wrong with him?"

"He’s high," Ekko answered.

When she got close, she smelled the scent off him. "How long have you had this?"

Kraven grabbed Isadora by the asscheek and pulled her close, feasting on her neck.

Isadora squeaked and tried to pull away, but Kraven had already thrown her off his shoulder.

"Put me down!" She pounded her fists on his back.

Kraven took one last drag and flicked the remaining into the sea.

"Kraven!" Her screams were muffled as they went below deck.

"Quite passionate mates are they not?" Merry said to Ekko.

"How long until we reach Skull Island?"

"We keep following that horizon," he pointed out. "I say two more days tops and we’re there."

"No compass?"

He scoffed. "What will that do?"

"To navigate when lost."

"A pirate is never lost. The sea is our home. Have you ever got lost on your way to the toilet?" 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦

Ekko ignored him and asked. "What does being a guest of the Pirate Lord entail?"

"Why ask such a question? Do you not trust I shall bring you to the Pirate Lord?"

"..."

He laughed like a maniac. "Well, I must have overstepped." He popped the last words. "As guests of the Pirate Lord, we shall deliver you lot, unspoiled. Rest assured."

Kraven kicked open the doors leading to their cabin and threw Isadora on the bed.

"That was highly shameless!" She yelled at him, cheeks still flushed.

Ekko and that fucking pirate were there!

"Shameless?" Kraven chuckled, taking off his tunic. "Using words that don’t exist to me. Should we wordplay then?"

"How much of that did you take? We’re on a pirate’s ship, and you shouldn’t let your guard down!"

Kraven didn’t say a word, only smirking as he crawled to her and undid her pants, pulling the leather off her slender legs in a swift move.

"Say those words without giving me that look, darling."

"W-What look?" Isadora said as her pulse raced. He was clearly high from smoking all that stuff, yet she couldn’t understand why he looked so...appetizing.

The daze look in his eyes and his shuddering breath, followed by the occasional licking of his lips.

She rasped when he forced her legs apart.

"It took so much self-control not to fuck you right there as they watch."

Fear became her gaze because he seemed like he was debating if he should go back there and recreate that image.
