The Rebirth Of The Beast Tamer-Chapter 99: Unraveling The Maze-like Structure 1
Chapter 99: Unraveling The Maze-like Structure 1
The Verdant Hollow’s depths pulsed with menace, a maze-like structure of twisted branches and glowing vines that writhed like living chains, their surfaces were etched with dark runes that flickered with malevolent energy.
Kelvin led the Tide’s Crest deeper into the forest with his staff firmly gripped, its fire runes blazed through the dark gauntlet forged in the Shattered Peaks.
His ribs throbbed from the gloomstalker battle, the cut on his arm was burning with each step, but the trail of dark runes were etched into the ground, which was matching those from the Peaks’ rogue tamer and that drove him forward.
The revelation that Zack, the Sanctum bully who taunted them with their fears, might be the tamer fueled his anger.
The cloaked figure’s shadow from the previous night lingered, which was a chilling reminder of the Veil’s reach, urging him toward the rift.
Xerion, the End-Tyrant, moved beside him with his twenty-foot serpentine form, which was a cascade of crimson and gold scales that were scarred but radiant in the forest’s violet glow.
The Level 8 Legendary’s amber eyes pierced the shadows, his hiss that were sharp, sensing the tamer’s energy. Their 82% sync ratio burned like a forge in Kelvin’s chest, anchoring his resolve.
He pressed a hand to Xerion’s scales and their heat steadied his trembling fingers.
Lyra moved to his left with her shadow-etched gauntlet pulsing with Peaks’ dark runes and gloomstalker spores, its glow was steady despite her wounds.
Salaris, her shadow-cloaked raptor, shoved through the canopy with her iridescent feathers blending with the vines and her talons gleaming with lethal precision.
Lyra’s side and arm wounds bled through bandages and her face were taut with pain, but her green eyes burned with defiance.
"This maze is alive," she said, her voice sharp and gauntlet flaring as she scanned a rune node. "The tamer is controlling it."
Darius strode on Kelvin’s right hand side with his soulstone glowing with Peaks’ soulstream gems and gloomstalker fangs, his chest and his side wounds were seeping but his hazel eyes were fierce.
Rhoam, his iron-plated panther, prowled behind, his massive paws sinking into the earth and his plates were reinforced with Peaks’ ore which were clinking with each step.
"Zack is playing us," Darius growled, tossing his soulstone with a flick of his wrist. "This is his kind of trap."
Kelvin nodded with his jaw clenched and his staff raised. "If it is him, we will end it here." The monitoring device in his pack buzzed with its runes flickering.....
"Sentient Maze-like Structure detected. Rogue tamer energy is intensifying. Disable rune nodes." The Sanctum’s warning was urgent, the signal was wavering a grim echo of the Peaks’ interference, proof of the tamer’s power.
The maze-like structure with its branches were shifted, sealing paths that were behind them with vines curling like claws to block their way.
The ground pulsed and the runes glowed brighter with their energy humming with threat. Salaris screeched with her talons slashing a vine that lunged at her and revealed a glowing rune node that is embedded in a tree trunk.
"There!" Lyra shouted, her gauntlet flaring as she wove a shadow rune, as her tendrils probed the node’s energy. "It is powering the maze."
Before Kelvin could respond, the ground was shuddered, and the maze-like structure erupted. Immediately vines lashed out, their thorns dripped with black sap, glowing with dark runes.
Rune-crafted illusions flickered to life, visions of Zack in the Sanctum’s yard, his sneer sharp, with his voice cutting through, appeared: "You are nothing, Kelvin and you will fail."
The trees parted, revealing thorn-wraiths, ethereal plant-beasts with hollow eyes and writhing vine-limbs, their forms pulsed with Veil energy.
Their screeches wove more visions: Kelvin saw his father’s burning form, accusing him of weakness; Lyra saw her sister’s ghost, with her eyes hollow....
Darius saw his village’s at flames, with screams echoing. This made them to know that it was the same tamer that kept showing up.
"Form up!" Kelvin roared, Xerion reared up with his flames igniting in a blazing arc that lit the maze-like. He channeled a fire Convergence through the dark gauntlet, a searing lance of flame erupting from his staff which sliced through a wraith’s core.
The beast dissolved in a burst of ash, but the illusions were intensified because he could see that the Sanctum was crumbling and he was seeing his friends’ lifeless forms.
His heart was pounded with doubt clawing at him, but Xerion’s warmth surged and grounded him.
Lyra wove a multi-layered rune net and her gauntlet trembled as shadow tendrils pinned two wraiths to the ground.
Salaris struck from above with her talons rending a core, but a vine whipped her wing, which drew a sharp screech.
Lyra’s face became paled and her sister’s ghost screamed in her vision. She gritted her teeth with blood dripping from her arm, and this tightened her net.
"I’m stronger than this!" she shouted, crushing another wraith and its core shattered in a flash of violet light. frёeweɓηovel_coɱ
Darius fired soulstone blasts and the gem-enhanced green light exploded across a wraith and destroyed its core. Rhoam charged and his iron bulk crushed another with his plates deflecting a flurry of thorns.
The visions hit Darius where it was hard as he saw his village’s ashes swirled, as Zack’s taunts echoed. "Get out of my head!" he shouted, his blasts were precise despite the blood seeping from his flank while shattering another core.
The wraiths were relentless and their vine-limbs were regenerated, and their screeches were amplifying the illusions.
A vine snared Xerion’s tail and some thorns digged into his scales, which drew a hiss. Kelvin cursed, channeling a second Convergence, Xerion’s flames which roared into a fiery vortex that incinerated the vine, freeing the serpent.
Lyra dodged a wraith’s thorned lash, but a second vine grazed her leg, tearing through her armor. She cried out, nearly falling, but Salaris’s talons ripped through the wraith and its core bursted in a shower of sparks.
Darius took a hit and a wraith’s vine slammed into his chest, his concussion flared as he staggered.
Rhoam’s charge crushed the wraith with its core exploding under the panther’s iron weight.
"We are trapped!" Darius shouted, while the illusions shake his resolve. "Zack’s playing us like fools!"
