The Rejected Heiress's Possesive Tycoon Husband-Chapter 30 An Yan Demands an Apology from Ninth Master
Chapter 30: Chapter 30 An Yan Demands an Apology from Ninth Master
An Yan’s voice turned cold as she said, "First, when you agreed to be my fiancé, your gaze was fixed on the thumb ring! Second, your man touched my thumb ring."
Li Tianyao’s thin lips pressed together, his expression growing somewhat grave.
An Yan continued, "If you want it, I can give it to you! After all, you saved my life today. But I don’t appreciate you secretly touching my things!"
An Yan removed the thumb ring and held it out before Li Tianyao. In her pale, jade-like palm, the ancient and hefty thumb ring, imbued with an aura of antiquity, lay quietly.
"Apologize to me, and it’s yours!"
She silently waited for his reaction! If he apologized, that would mean his man really did touch her thumb ring. Then why should she, An Yan, be with someone who secretly touched her things? If he didn’t apologize, then she would call Li Han in and compare the surveillance footage! In any case, today, even if it meant facing his retaliation, she was determined to end this relationship!
Li Tianyao’s deep-set eyes narrowed slightly. After a moment, he reached out with his slender fingers, gently closing her hand over the thumb ring. "First, my men would not have touched your thumb ring. I can vouch for their integrity. Second, I am indeed somewhat interested in this thumb ring, but only because I suspect it might be priceless. Typically, priceless antiques are kept locked in a safe, not worn around the neck. So, strictly speaking, this thumb ring caught my attention because you were wearing it around your neck. Third, saving you was simply my duty. You are my fiancée, and ensuring your safety is my obligation. There’s no need for an additional reward."
An Yan tilted her head back slightly, her clear, bright eyes fixed on him. "But I saw the surveillance footage. It was your bodyguard, Li Han, who touched my thumb ring! He snuck into the changing room while I was in surgery!"
Li Tianyao’s expression remained calm, his voice even as he said, "You must be mistaken. He was with me the entire time."
An Yan frowned. "Are you sure he was with you the entire time? I recall he wasn’t by your side when I came out of the operating room."
"He wasn’t there at that moment because he had gone to find Lin Shang," Li Tianyao replied smoothly. "An Yan, while this thumb ring appears valuable, it’s far from enough to tempt my men!"
An Yan insisted stubbornly, "But I couldn’t be mistaken! That person’s eyes were identical to your bodyguard’s."
"Li Han!" Li Tianyao called out.
Li Han immediately emerged from the shadows. "Ninth Master!"
"Take another careful look. Was it him?"
An Yan stared intently at Li Han. She used the Divination Technique to investigate, and the results indicated that Li Han hadn’t touched the thumb ring. Her gaze shifted to Li Han’s left hand. His index finger was clean, devoid of any ring, not even an indentation.
Could she really have mistaken someone else? An Yan’s face flushed, and for a moment, she was at a loss.
"I’m sorry! I must have been mistaken." An Yan wasn’t the type to stubbornly deny her mistakes just to save face, so she asked, "If my accusations have offended you, please tell me, what can I do to make amends?"
Li Han quickly shook his head. "Miss An Yan, you’re being too kind."
How could he dare accept Miss An Yan’s amends? He was just thankful he’d been meticulous enough at the time, paying attention to every detail; otherwise, Miss An Yan would surely have exposed him.
Li Tianyao toyed with the Buddha Beads on his wrist, his voice growing cold as he ordered, "Investigate who touched Miss An Yan’s thumb ring. Find them and bring them here immediately."
"Yes." Li Han acknowledged and turned to leave.
Perhaps he turned too quickly; his toe caught a nearby potted plant. Instinctively, he reached out to steady it.
This time, An Yan saw clearly that Li Han’s instinctive reaction was to use his right hand, whereas the person in the surveillance footage was obviously left-handed.
Li Han was efficient. In less than half an hour, he returned with two hospital staff members. An Yan recognized them as operating room staff.
"Dr. An, I truly didn’t mean to touch your things. The locker keys in the changing room all look alike; I just opened the wrong one."
"Yes, Dr. An, I saw her open the wrong locker door. But I can testify that she definitely didn’t take any of your belongings!"
"Dr. An, I’m just an ordinary hospital employee; I don’t earn much each month..." The staff member who had opened the wrong locker was on the verge of tears from anxiety. "What did you lose? If it’s serious, should we call the police?"
An Yan felt quite embarrassed and said, "Nothing was lost, and I won’t hold you responsible. I’m sorry to have troubled you both."
The two staff members visibly relaxed. "It’s a relief nothing was lost. You really scared me."
Once the two staff members had left, An Yan turned and placed the thumb ring into Li Tianyao’s hand. "I’m sorry. Please, take this."
Li Tianyao’s eyes narrowed slightly, his fingers slowly curling to gently cradle the thumb ring in his palm. His long, dry fingers gently squeezed the bun on her head as a low chuckle rumbled in his throat. "It’s alright."
Seeing her so generously offering him the thumb ring, Li Tianyao guessed this girl truly didn’t understand this thumb ring’s significance to him. Based on this, he deduced that Gu Shifang’s purpose in giving the thumb ring to her was likely just to divert his attention, making it easier for Gu Shifang to hide his tracks. If he focused all his attention on this young woman, he would fall right into Gu Shifang’s trap. But if he didn’t focus on her, how else could he find Gu Shifang?
An Yan had no idea what he was thinking; she just felt embarrassed. She had stormed in to accuse him, only for it to be a misunderstanding. And yet, he didn’t seem to mind, nor did he intend to fall out with her. "Why aren’t you angry?"
"Being patient with one’s own woman—isn’t that something every man should do?"
The more Li Tianyao spoke as if it were only natural, the more embarrassed An Yan felt. Compared to him as a fiancé, she felt she was a rather inadequate fiancée.
"I’m sorry!"
"It’s really no problem! Today’s incident only happened because you don’t know me yet. Once you do, misunderstandings like this won’t occur again."
An Yan’s face grew even redder. "I... I should go now."
She felt so awkward she didn’t want to stay a second longer.
"What’s the hurry? It’s time for a late-night snack. Eat something before you go." He reached out to take her hand, leading her toward the dining room.
An Yan looked down at her hand being held by him, her expression slightly perplexed. Being with him, whether it was the earlier interlocking of fingers or now having her entire hand enveloped in his, she surprisingly didn’t find it disagreeable. Is it because he’s good-looking?
「In the dining room」
The food was already laid out. Plump crystal shrimp dumplings, three-delicacy siu mai, a soup with tender tofu and minced meat, mousse cake... Every dish was one of her favorites!
"These are all dishes I usually enjoy. See if there’s anything else you’d like; I can have the chef prepare it," Li Tianyao said.
"No need, these are also my favorites!" An Yan’s eyes curved into a smile.
What did Ninth Master just say? the chef at the doorway thought, astonished.
