The Rejected Heiress's Possesive Tycoon Husband-Chapter 37: Come on, let’s hurt each other
Chapter 37: Chapter 37: Come on, let’s hurt each other
"Look for it in the books?"
"Yes, the ring is an ancient artifact. If the secret realm truly exists, there should be some clues in ancient records."
"You’re so smart, Li Tianyao!"
An Yan chuckled, then added weakly, "But if the ring isn’t a map, then we don’t have a point of reference. It’s probably not going to be easy based on the descriptions in the books alone."
"As long as it exists, we will definitely find it! Take it slow."
He reached out and pinched the bun on top of her head. "Lu Feng, send this box of books to the An Family’s house..."
"No!" An Yan hurriedly interrupted. "Just leave it here. I’ll come over to your place to read."
With Bai Xiaoyun and her daughter at home, I’m worried they’ll get greedy and steal these Ancient Tomes.
"Alright, then. Shall I move this box of books to my study, or should I prepare a separate study for you?"
"Whichever is more convenient?"
An Yan knew that a study wasn’t just a living room; it was the owner’s private territory. Although requesting her own study in someone else’s house might seem strange, sharing one with the owner would clearly be disrespectful.
"Use my study," Li Tianyao said without the slightest hesitation.
Li Tianyao’s study was simply decorated, with the walls, floor, and desk all a uniform black. The only splash of bright color came from a milk-white, oval, long-pile carpet on one side of the study. A delicate, round glass coffee table sat upon it. Next to the coffee table was a light gray, cloud-shaped plush sofa.
"I set it up for you! Do you like it?"
An Yan sank into the sofa the moment she sat down. "I love it! It’s so comfortable."
An Yan’s eyes curved into crescents. He obviously had all this prepared beforehand, yet he still pretended to ask if he should send the books to my place. Handsome, of noble birth, and he keeps my affairs at heart... Hmm, this feels a bit sweet!
He looked at the young woman nestled in the sofa like a kitten. A faint smile unintentionally touched Li Tianyao’s amber eyes. At first, I thought her proactive approach had an ulterior motive, but now it seems her appearance in my life was fated. Regardless, from now on, she is mine!
He reached out, turned on the reading lamp for her, and moved the box of books to her left side, ensuring they were within easy reach.
"Then take your time reading!" His gaze held an added measure of indulgence. fгeewёbnoѵel_cσm
An Yan noticed his gaze, and her face instantly heated up. Ugh, being stared at by such a handsome man... I feel a bit, um, unsettled.
She quickly shifted her gaze to the book. "Okay."
She focused on reading, but the book turned out to be quite difficult to understand. This was mainly because the ancient writing style differed from modern conventions; the characters were traditional, and there was no punctuation, making it quite strenuous to read.
In half an hour, An Yan had only managed to read a few pages. This slow pace was really frustrating.
When she looked up from her book, she saw Li Tianyao smoothly reviewing documents.
An Yan playfully rolled her eyes. "I might be very busy soon and won’t have much time to come here to read these books. But since we found them, we can’t let them go to waste. So, do you want to read them together?"
He’s the one who found the books; if it’s going to be tough, we might as well suffer together!
Li Tianyao saw the teasing and excitement in her eyes, and the corners of his mouth curved up unconsciously. "I’ll read them when I have time."
An Yan stood up. "Then don’t forget. It’s getting late; I should head back."
Li Tianyao stood up, took her hand, and led her to the study doorway, where he registered her fingerprint. "Come over anytime you want to read. If you need anything, just call Wen Ya. Apart from the study, none of the other rooms in the house have locks!"
"Isn’t that inappropriate?"
"What’s inappropriate about it? We’re engaged, so this home is yours too! Is there a problem with that?"
"Er... okay, no problem!"
I’m starting to like this feeling of being with Li Tianyao. I like how he treats me like one of his own!
She had just vaulted onto her balcony in high spirits when she sensed a gaze locked on her. After a moment’s thought, she bent down, picked up a pebble from a flowerpot, and flicked it out.
SNAP!
An Shimeng, who was spying through her telescope, saw something flying towards her eyes. Startled, she instinctively recoiled, but her heel caught on the chair. She lost her balance and crashed heavily to the ground. It felt as if her tailbone had cracked, the pain shooting straight to her Celestial Spiritual Cover.
After a long moment, once she finally caught her breath, she realized the object hadn’t hit her eye but the lens of her telescope.
An Shimeng was shaking with anger. Damn An Yan! She must have done it on purpose! She wanted to hurt me, to stop me from doing my experiments and writing my thesis. How vicious!
A minute or so later, a blood-curdling scream suddenly pierced the air from An Shimeng’s room. "Mom—"
Bai Xiaoyun, An Zhongbo, and An Yaoluo, who was working overtime in his study, all rushed to the fourth floor. An Yan followed them.
I originally only wanted to give her a scare to stop her from spying on me. I didn’t expect this pleasant surprise.
An Shimeng lay on her room’s balcony, wailing, tears streaming down her cheeks. "Mom, it hurts so much!"
"What happened?" Bai Xiaoyun hurried over to check.
Clutching her backside and refusing to let go, An Shimeng sobbed and said, "I was just on the balcony observing the starry sky when suddenly a meteorite flew towards my eye! In my panic, I fell hard onto the ground. Mom, I think my tailbone is broken!"
Bai Xiaoyun tenderly stroked her back, softly trying to soothe her.
An Zhongbo took out his phone and told Old Xiao to get the car ready immediately.
An Yaoluo frowned, his gaze sweeping around. "How could a meteorite fall at this time of night?"
An Shimeng pouted. "But there was! I saw it flying towards my eye."
An Yaoluo inspected carefully and found that the outermost lens of the telescope was smashed. And what lay on the ground wasn’t a meteorite, but a common pebble! Such stones were everywhere in the An Family’s garden.
An Yaoluo scanned the surroundings thoughtfully. Then his gaze fell on An Yan. She stood there with her arms crossed, a hint of someone watching a good show in her eyes.
"Big Brother, was it a meteorite?" An Shimeng peeked out from Bai Xiaoyun’s embrace and asked curiously.
An Yaoluo hesitated for a moment before saying, "No! There’s nothing here."
A flash of hatred, mingled with a hint of disappointment, swiftly crossed An Shimeng’s eyes as she murmured softly, "Oh. Then I must have been mistaken."
Old Xiao drove the car over. An Zhongbo and Bai Xiaoyun then took An Shimeng to the hospital.
After watching their car drive away, An Yaoluo turned to An Yan and produced the pebble. "Was it you who used a stone to smash Mengmeng’s telescope?"
An Yan met his gaze and nodded. "Yes."
Her tone was so calm, as if it were no big deal at all.
An Yaoluo’s eyebrows knitted together, and his voice deepened. "Yanyan, why did you do that?"
An Yan looked at him, her gaze cold and indifferent, and said, "Hasn’t Big Brother ever wondered how a stone I threw from downstairs could hit the lens of a telescope that was supposed to be aimed at the sky?"
An Yaoluo: "..."
Before he could say another word, An Yan turned and went upstairs. It was as if staying with him a moment longer might infect me with his foolishness.
