Chapter 52: The Suite: 1

Tara’s POV

I was in my room when I got the email. It made me screech and jump downstairs, alerting everybody. Even though it had been a few minutes past 6, a lot of us had been awake, at least that was what I would love to believe.

"Woman, what is it!" Ella and Sofia came out from one room, Arlo had followed me downstairs also. Only Richard wasn’t down with us.

"You don’t want to wake up Richard, love. Let’s keep it down a bit." Arlo warned. His hair was a mess, but I now understood what people meant by a hot mess. Deep brows arched upwards as he probably waited for what it was that I had to say.

"Okay, we all know Mr. Alawode, right? From Central Bank.? He has promised to make a huge donation into my project, well my mom’s project. Like an investment, even! I just got this email directly from his company stating their terms for the donation. It’s nothing I can’t handle." I felt relieved saying out the news.

"So it’s a really good news then?" Ella said, waiting for confirmation. After my head nodding, she jumped up and came to hug me.

Then before I knew it, we were all singing praises of congratulations here and there. Even Arlo looked me in the eyes and mentioned something about how proud he was in me, and also something about waking up too early?

"This calls for a celebration!" Ella screamed out, then paused as she looked at Sofia. "Minus the drinking part though,"

"That’s okay. We should go out later today. Maybe for um, ice cream?"

"I have to stay in shape tomorrow to be able to fit in my dress. How about a picnic?" Sofia suggested.

"Honey, if you wanted to lose some weight, you shouldn’t have drank at all last night."

"Are you still going to be all over me?"

I blinked, surprise at how close they were becoming! When I turned to face Arlo, I realized I hadn’t been the only one staring. freēnovelkiss.com

"Okay, why don’t we all get dressed come back here two hours later to decide." I said.

"Whatever we’re deciding, 8am is such an early time for us to be leaning. At least let’s leave by noon."

I didn’t object to that so we all scattered and went back to our rooms. Arlo did not even spare much of a second glance at me, after what happened last night. I decided to reach out to him on our way back upstairs.

"Hi, good morning." I said, thinking of what next to say in order to make our conversation less awkward. Finally, I asked. "Did you um, sleep well?"

He smirked, fixing me a studying glance like I were a physics assignment or something. "Do you mean did I think of you last night, maybe you’re trying to confirm--"

My face burned red from embarrassment but I pressed further ignoring his silly jokes. "I just wanted to know how you were doing, you know? But it seems you’re fine. I’ll leave you to yourself then."

His hands reached for mine before I could take further steps. "Wait, Tara actually I’m fine." He said. "Thanks for asking."

I took relief in that and smiled. My hands felt so small and tiny beside his. We walked upstairs together and for some reason, I was grateful he didn’t let go.

"Congratulations once again. I’m so happy for you."

"Thanks, I’m so happy. Guess who texted me on my way downstairs?"

"Your brother?"

"Close enough." I smiled proudly, "Alison. She sent a congratulatory message and vowed to call me later today."

"Wow, that’s nice." He looked so impressed Alison and I had settled our difference and put them aside.

"I’ll get back to you on today’s activities, and Sofia is coming too." I said to him, ignoring the frowny look on his face. I actually smiled at that once I was inside my room. The thought that Arlo was here with me under the same roof, and that we’d just been holding hands earlier...!

"Come on, grow up Tara."

After four hours, and an intense moment of arguments and various proposals from everyone, we finally agreed that we would go to a restaurant. It wasn’t just any restaurant but THE restaurant in town. It held high floors you can easily start to lose focus once you tried to count it, like a mighty heaven but just for food.

Each floors represented the class and type of dish being served. And booking reservation there was always so difficult to do, since everyone from all round the world were always trying to have a taste of the glorious haven. Being a citizen of the US, I still can’t believe I had only been to the restaurant once in my life when I was barely a teenager.

Series of security had checked us properly at the ground floor and had seen proof of our reservation. It was the tenth floor with a vip guest room for just us, and we were going with Italian dish that morning.

We took selfies and short videos, admiring the beauty of this restaurant. Then Ella decided to give us a lecture of the whole place.

"Do you know that this restaurant was named First Suite because this is the first place a lot of tourists who visit America come to? I mean the whole of America! And people have mentioned it even promised huge investments to turn this place into a hotel, but the founders have politely...and impolitely rejected a ton of offers. It’s fascinating!"

"Wow, aunty Ella is smart!" Richard clapped.

I flashed her a suspicious look and Heavens could testify, I swore I saw Ella blushed right now! Then I glanced at Sofia and smiled to myself.

"Here, madam, young masters," the young sweet security smiled and gave a low bow to Richard who returned the bow with a smile. "This is the room you have booked. I will alert the attention of all our finest chefs on this floor shortly."

We were standing in front of a room with giant door. The door opened before he could insert the key, and to our surprise, it was already filled up with at least ten people all on dark suits and shades. A lady on pink suit of a big suit shirt and short pants, with heels as tall as ten story buildings, advanced closer.
