The Rising Phoenix-Chapter 945: Madam Mei Does Have A Son
"Jung Wang, are you mistaken about something?" Si Tang asked.
"Huh?" Jung Wang Jung Wang blinked in confusion, his mind going blank for a moment. What had he mistaken?
Bai Xifeng was also curious about what Si Tang meant by that.
"She did not have a son." Si Tang said calmly.
Bai Xifeng immediately became interested in this unfolding drama, her eyes glinting with intrigue.
"Young Madam... you may not know this, but Madam Mei does have a son." Jung Wang revealed hesitantly.
"What? What do you mean by that?" Si Tang narrowed her eyes dangerously, her tone turning sharp.
"I stumbled upon this secret a few months ago. Madam Mei does have a son... but he is not with Master Si." Jung Wang said carefully.
"Not with my father?" Si Tang raised her eyebrow slowly.
"That’s right. Madam Mei has a son with Sir Si Wunjian." Jung Wang exposed the secret.
"What? She has a son with my third uncle?" Si Tang was visibly surprised.
Si Wunjian was her father’s younger brother, four years younger than him. She remembered clearly that Si Wunjian had adopted a son fourteen years ago because his wife could not conceive.
However, Si Wunjian never took any concubines, even though his wife had encouraged him to do so. He always refused, presenting himself as a man loyal to his wife. He appeared indifferent toward having an heir of his own.
It was his wife who eventually persuaded him to adopt a son to inherit the family line. Only then did he bring a child into the household.
Si Wunjian doted on that adopted son immensely. He treated the boy like a precious treasure, never allowing him to suffer even the slightest grievance. Only now did Si Tang begin to see the hidden truth behind it all.
If what Jung Wang said was true, it meant Mei Lijuan and Si Wunjian had been plotting from the very beginning to take over the Si Family. They would start with her mother, then move on to her, and finally eliminate her father. What a meticulous and terrifyingly brilliant plan.
The silence that followed was heavy and suffocating. Si Tang’s grip on her sword tightened until her knuckles turned pale white.
"Madam Mei probably got the poison from Sir Si Wunjian. She said if I did not comply, my daughter would never make it out alive. Please... I only did what a father would do!" Jung Wang pleaded desperately.
Si Tang scoffed coldly. "A father should indeed protect his family, but he should not murder another mother in the process."
"My presence must have triggered that woman’s anger. So, it is likely true that those killers are her subordinates." Bai Xifeng concluded thoughtfully.
Si Tang silently agreed.
"Keep him alive for now. He will serve as my witness when I drag my uncle and that old bitch before the clan council." Si Tang ordered the guard.
"Yes, Young Madam." The guard replied with a firm nod.
"Where are those assassins?" Si Tang asked.
"Let me lead the way." The guard said respectfully.
Si Tang and Bai Xifeng followed the guard to another section of the dungeon. The assassins were also chained to the wall, their conditions no better than Jung Wang’s. When they heard footsteps approaching, they slowly lifted their heads.
Their faces turned pale the moment they saw Bai Xifeng standing behind Si Tang. They could never forget what she had done to their comrade. They did not fear death, but they feared pain. Compared to enduring endless agony, death was a far more merciful option.
"I give you a choice to confess." Si Tang said, pausing briefly before continuing. "If you dare to lie to my face, I will make sure she makes you experience the same pain."
Hearing this, the assassins trembled uncontrollably.
"I will confess." One of the assassins shouted immediately.
The others quickly followed his lead, unwilling to take any risks.
"Good. So, tell me, who is your master?" Si Tang said.
The assassins revealed everything without holding back. They were indeed Mei Lijuan’s subordinates. They had received direct orders to kill Bai Xifeng. Mei Lijuan had discovered that Bai Xifeng was a skilled pharmacist and feared that she would ruin her plan by curing Si Tang’s mother.
The assassins had initially attempted to kill Bai Xifeng before she arrived at the Si Residence, but they never found the right opportunity.
Only when Bai Xifeng was in a vulnerable state during the tribulation lightning did they finally see their chance to strike.
They had assumed that Bai Xifeng would be weakened after enduring the tribulation lightning. That was why they chose that precise moment to launch their attack.
...
Mei Lijuan could not sit still. She paced back and forth in her room, her mind racing as she desperately tried to think of a way to distance herself from the situation. She had already sent a letter to Si Wunjian, hoping to learn what her next move should be.
She firmly believed that Si Wunjian would never abandon her. After all, she was the mother of his child. They had promised each other that they would one day live openly as a family once Si Wunjian became the patriarch of the Si Family.
Unfortunately, Mei Lijuan never expected that her letter would be intercepted by her current husband, Si Wuntian.
Si Wuntian had already ordered his secret bodyguards to monitor Mei Lijuan’s movements. After the assassins pointed directly at her, he knew there was far more behind the matter than what appeared on the surface.
As the patriarch, Si Wuntian was far from foolish. Not long after the incident, Mei Lijuan sent out a letter. His secret bodyguard intercepted it and delivered it straight into his hands.
