The Rogue Alpha's Second Chance-Chapter 17: Overwhelmed
Chapter 17 - Overwhelmed
Violet rushed out of the house, carrying on the tray two glasses of chilled lemonade. As Lucas transformed to stand on his two feet, she stared at him with eager eyes.
"You made it?" he asked.
Violet nodded.
Lucas then grabbed the glass and took a sip. There was a tangy and refreshing aftertaste left in his mouth.
Noticing that Violet was nervously waiting for his remark, he commented, "That tastes absolutely delicious, especially after how the Alpha made me carry all the animals he hunted. I am beat!"
Lucas groaned, stretching his arms to exaggerate the hard work he had to put in.
Violet stepped behind him and punched on his shoulder in order to relieve his muscles. "Thank you for the hard work."
"I am telling you, although the Alpha looks so all mature and cool, he is very fussy about getting dirty. As a grown man, who is so troublesome," Lucas expressed.
After observing the Alpha for past few days, Violet also noticed how Sylas preferred everything to be neat and orderly. She found it pleasant as she tend to be a mess most of the time.
"The Alpha, his wolf, is more approachable and friendly," Violet spoke out, still surprised about how welcoming and interactive his wolf was with her both the time.
Lucas's eyes widened at Violet's words. He turned back and grabbed on to her shoulder.
"What the fuck are you talking about? As much as I love the Alpha, his wolf form is a violent monster. Contrary to how practices extreme restraint in his human form, as a wolf, he feels as though he is out to take out all of his steam." Lucas shuddered, thinking of those scary grey blue eyes.
The corner of Violet's lips twitched.
Wasn't he simply exaggerating it?
When Violet was about to explain, she realized that the Alpha had gotten dressed. She immediately hurried with the lemonade in her hand towards the Alpha— her bright hazel eyes staring at Sylas with expectation.
"Alpha, lemonade," Violet offered.

Although she clearly had werewolf blood running through her veins, she resembled a hopeful puppy, trying to please her master.
Sylas's observant eyes noticed the wounds on her hand that she failed to cover. Although they stopped bleeding, they were still a glaring shade of red, due to her inability to heal as fast.
"I am not quite thirsty," Sylas turned her down— his voice was still gentle but those eyes were cold.
Violet felt her heart drop.
Sylas turned his back on her, about to leave when Violet was took forward subconsciously.
That's when her feet stumbled on something, and she tripped. The glass on her hand fell and shattered into pieces.
"Violet, are you alright?" She heard Lucas ask.
But her attention was caught by Sylas who turned back to look at her. Embarrassed, she quickly looked down and began to nervously pick up the glass shards, ignoring how they were piercing through her skin.
Sylas watched her for a few seconds before being unable to. He grabbed her by her shoulder and raised her high. The pair of hazel eyes stared at him in surprise.
"Do you not want your hands anymore?"
Violet looked down on her bleeding hands. Although the wounds stung, her chest was way too heavy for her to feel the physical pain.
"I am sorry," she apologized, "I will compensate you for the glass."
"You're indeed a troublesome kid," Sylas said. "Follow me."
"And you, clean it up," Sylas ordered Lucas.
Violet was about to argue on how she will do that when Lucas nodded and replied, "On it, Sir!"
He gave Violet a reassuring look.
Violet followed after Sylas to the house. He made her sit at the dining table when he went over to get the first aid kit. Violet sat there in a daze, watching the Alpha clean her wounds and put a band-aid over them.
His actions were neat and gentle with proficiency that showed he had done it a lot of time. Being taken care of this gently made Violet's heart skip a beat.
Once he was done, Violet was too overwhelmed to be able to say anything and looked down towards her hands.
Violet was brought out of her distraction when the notes of citrus scent along with floral and ginger wafted into her senses. She raised her head to find Sylas hold a cup of tea in front of him.
"Take it. It will help you calm down."
Violet nodded, reaching out to take the cup from him.
She stared at the golden drink, not taking a sip.
After that, she raised her head to look at Sylas, and before she knew it, she asked, "I thought you disliked me, so why are you nice to me at times?"
Violet bit on her tongue, realizing how awkward that question was.
Sylas looked at her thoughtfully, making her feel as though she was sitting on pins and needles.
She shouldn't have asked that.
Why did her mouth run awfully fast?
Violet was crying with regrets inside.
"The tea won't taste well once it cools down," commented Sylas, ignoring her question and leaving.
Flustered, Violet immediately picked up the glass and took a sip, letting out a wince when she almost burned her tongue.

"Many warrior wolves are patrolling nearby, trying to find Violet. They still did not dare to step on our territory, but it wouldn't be long before few brave ones decide to do so," Lydia informed.
"The last few times they dared to mess with us wasn't a lesson for them?" questioned Lucas.
"Mathew believes Violet is alive and is desperate to find her. That's why, he contacted all the nearby packs. They do not think highly of someone who doesn't have Alpha blood running through them neither do they prefer Violet, a woman who got badly tricked by love to lose everything.
But that pack land is tempting. Therefore, they want to kill two birds with one arrow. They want to rid of Violet and convince the council how Mathew committed treason. Since the pack would be without any Alpha heir, they can take over. In the face of this huge benefit, they believe we are not big deals," Lydia explained.
The corner of Lucas's lips twitched. "Was that Mathew a fool?"
Sylas spoke out, "Everyone with their own motives thinks they will come out as the final winner."
Lydia nodded. "Mathew thinks he is strong enough to go against those born Alpha."
Lucas sighed, shaking his head. "What a mess. Initially, Alpha chose this place because of how peaceful it seemed."
Three of their attentions were caught by the sounds of footsteps. They turned their heads to find Violet walking towards them. Her eyes were closed, and her posture was slouched.
"Violet," Lucas called when Violet opened her arms and hugged Sylas, resting her head on his chest.
Lucas's eyes widened.
Sylas visibly stiffened.
Lydia stared thoughtfully.
Before Sylas was able to push Violet off, Lydia explained, "She is sleepwalking. She is most likely seeking the pheromones and followed the trail left behind."
Sylas looked at Lydia, silently ordering her to do something about it.
"Alpha, there is nothing that can be done other than you comforting her or else she will walk around randomly until she gets tired and calms down. Or to the point she gets hurt and faints."
Sylas pinched his forehead, irritated. "Lydia."
"We need to take responsibility for our actions, Alpha, and Violet is a helpless little girl. It wouldn't be considerate to let her suffer," Lydia pointed out.
Sylas was about to punish Lydia for her impudence when he realized how content Violet looked as she stuck close to him.
"I will take her to her room," he stated while giving Lydia a look on how this wasn't over yet.
Lucas's eyes traveled back and forth between Lydia and Sylas, unable to make a sense out of this situation.
He questioned, "Am I missing an episode of this series?"
Lydia yawned. "Go to sleep, Lucas. I am exhausted as well."
As Lydia walked off, Lucas trod after her with the questions he had in his head.
