The Rogue Alpha's Second Chance-Chapter 27: Hardships
Chapter 27 - Hardships
Sylas Hale.
Even Violet, who was oblivious to most worldly affairs, knew that name.
From the rumors that reached her ears, Sylas Hale was a blood-thirsty, cruel werewolf. He rose from the bodies he had taken himself, and his power reigned above all werewolves.
No dared to cross paths him, as anyone doing so will have to face his wrath. Children were told stories of his deeds in order to frighten them to behave properly.
'Sylas Hale will come and get you if you don't stop being mischievous.'
The saying went around the pack to the point the character seemed mythical to Violet. She heard how he had left the pack and wandered around as a rogue, eliciting fears from many.
Back when he left the pack, Violet was a young teenager, and everyone was alert, believing that he would come to take over his pack. However, the silence shown by him calmed down everyone's nerve eventually.
Violet stared at the mysophobic man in front of her. He wiped away the sweat on his body and hair with a towel that collected after the intense exercise he had.
His wet dark hair laid on his shoulder messily, giving him a casual, youthful look. Violet couldn't connect him to the horror inducing werewolf she heard of.
The pair of steely blue eyes shifted to meet with hers. Sylas raised one of his eyebrows, silently asking her the reason behind him for watching him so intently.
Violet stood from the stairs and praised without reservation: "Alpha, you were so cool when fighting against Lucas now. You grabbed him like this and did that... that was the best part—Ah!"
In an attempt to replicate the moves she saw Sylas and Lucas exchange earlier, Violet's feet tripped unable to keep balance, and her body fell forward.
Sylas placed his hand on her shoulder to stabilize her.
The pair of hazel eyes shone brightly, staring at Sylas in admiration. "As expected, you're incredible, Alpha."
Violet then let out a deep sigh. "If only I was as strong as you."
A soft smile played at the corner of his lips.
"You can directly ask anyone to teach instead of going around like this. What a silly girl," Sylas commented.
Her thoughts being exposed made her cheeks flush, and Violet cleared her throat, thinking of an excuse to defend herself.
"Come on, let me show you an easy one," Sylas stated.
Sylas stood behind her, and his hand reached forward to grab on to her wrist. His warm breath fell on her neck, causing goosebumps to arise all over her body, and his intoxicating scent wrapped her. The skin contact between them distracted her.
Violet could hardly process his words while he guided her. Although she tried to keep on a solemn expression, pretending as though she was listening carefully, her rapidly beating heart made her feel guilty.
"Since you are weak, your best should be at making sneaky attacks. Aim for the weak spots." Sylas went on to explain how she could be at an advantage compared to others.
Then, after a while of speaking, he realized she was in a daze. Smiling, he asked, "Is it too confusing?"
Violet shook her head before nodding. "I understand a little."
"In your current state, it is better not to strain yourself," Sylas explained, "do not stress yourself out."
Although Sylas wasn't obviously caring towards her like Lucas or Lydia, his gentleness and consideration towards her made her heart swell up in happiness. His calm personality made her feel pleased and soothed when she was around him.
It was more so because of this, she couldn't associate Sylas with someone crazy. Sylas's every move seems to be calculated and carefully considered.

What could have caused him to become like this?
Violet nodded. "Got it, Alpha."
Then, Violet felt something warm flowing down her nose. Sylas's eyes widened for a second. Violet reached out to touch her face, and there was blood in her hand when she looked at them.
Violet was taken aback.
"It must be due to the dry weather," Violet said.
Violet was about to enter the house to clean up when she saw the black spots in her vision. This made her stumble, and Sylas placed his hand on her neck to stabilize her.
Then, Sylas took out a handkerchief and placed it on her bleeding nose. Surprised, Violet took the handkerchief from his hand and held her nose.
"Come on, let's get you inside," Sylas said gently.

Violet's wrist was connected to an IV drip. She watched the liquid trickle down slowly. The weakness in her body let her helplessly lay down there in boredom.
Her eyes then fell on the bloody handkerchief on the table, and a soft smile played on her face. Her hand was about to reach out for the handkerchief when the door opened and Lydia stepped in.
Violet immediately controlled her strange emotions.
"How are you feeling now?" Lydia questioned.
The constant nagging did not allow her to relax. However, not wishing to worry Lydia, she wore a smile on her face and responded, "I am all fine."
"Although it is boring, these days, don't run around too much and stay in the house, alright? The heat today made your condition act up," informed Lydia.
Violet obediently nodded.
Then, after a moment of hesitation, Lydia asked, "Do you truly wish to go through the pregnancy? What if your body isn't able to keep up with it? It would only be causing two deaths."
It would be a lie to say she was not scared. Violet grew up pampered, and it was only until recently she started to suffer from the hardships.
"I know, but I am too attached to get rid of it. Am I being too sentimental?" Violet's eyes were downcast.
Lydia silently stared at her.
Staring at Lydia with expectations and trust, Violet voiced out, "Please, help me."
Lydia sighed. "I will try my best, but I can't assure you anything."
