The Rogue Alpha's Second Chance-Chapter 9: Beautiful
Chapter 9 - Beautiful
Lucas winced as Lydia rubbed the medication on his sore arms.
"Who asked you to take the punishment in my place? Idiot," Lydia commented, frowning.
"The Alpha just made me do a handstand for couple hours. It isn't even as bad as back then. And you, why don't you sound more grateful?" Lucas complained at the end.
After that, thinking about something, Lucas turned back to face Lydia. Then, with his brows furrowed, he said, "Why was the Alpha so mad? Does he have any connection with Violet? And why would he think you want Violet to meet him?"
Lydia wrecked her brains for an explanation only for Lucas to follow it up with: "Could it that Violet is the daughter of his enemy? That's why he kept her alive. He wants to torture her on her own."
Lydia stared at him incredulously, wondering where he gets his ridiculous ideas from.
Pushing his head back, she decided to go along with this idiot. "Yeah, you're probably right."
°°°
The man they referred to as Alpha— whose name Violet still wasn't able to get— was a strange one. Violet had a feeling he disliked her being here.
However, he agreed to have her roam around.
Why?
Violet shook her head, getting the thoughts off of her head.
Now, her current predicament has to be the bell pepper in front of her. Having her brows furrowed, she held the knife awkwardly and tried to position it properly.
Violet's experience with cooking was close to zero. Recalling her memories on how she watched others cook before, she tried to imitate that in order to prepare a meal out of gratefulness.
Lucas and Lydia helped her a lot. Also, she couldn't have Lucas prepare her meal every single time, no matter how kind he was.
She needed to be self-reliant as well.
Therefore, Violet tore herself up from the bed at five in the morning and entered the kitchen in silence.
Taking in a deep breath, she sliced through the bell pepper, impressed by how it slid in like butter. Then, narrowing her eyes, she left out a centimeter of space before making another slice.
Violet carried that on, until she managed to get thin strips out of the bell pepper. Impressed by her handiwork, Violet believed she had a special talent for cooking.

Her attention then shifted to the carrot. Now, with confidence in her self, she tackled the carrot.
After almost an hour, Violet was done preparing the vegetables.
Next, she needed to prepare the pan. She switched on the gas to the maximum, watching the fire almost engulf the pan. She nervously gulped before she poured oil from far away.
Violet then was about to crack in the eggs when the sound of the door opening caught her attention. Sylas and Lucas entered the house, with Lucas chasing after Sylas and acting like a puppy trying to please the displeased master.
"You are awake early today, Violet. Are you trying to cook?" inquired Lucas.
Violet nodded.
His infectious smile spread on to his face. "Then, I am looking forward to it."
The attention on her placed more pressure upon Violet. She cracked the egg and dropped it on the pan with her hands shaking.
"Wait, Violet!" Lucas shouted.
The next instant, she dropped half the egg shell on the pan. She tried to retrieve that with her hand when the oil started to splash violently. And then, in an attempt to avoid that, her hand bumled against the handle of the pan. In the same second, flame engulfed entire pan, causing her heart to burst out of her chest.
Lucas immediately rushed over with his superhuman speed and held her shoulder, pulling her back and keeping her safe.
Violet's heart pounded against her chest.
"Are you alright?" Lucas asked, concerned.
"I, I-uh..." It took a moment for her to come to her senses. "I am sorry. I didn't mean to do that."
The quivering Violet made Lucas take pity on her. He said, "It's no big deal. I will take care of it."
From the corner of her eyes, Violet looked at Sylas, knowing how he was the one in charge here.
"Keep her out of the kitchen," Sylas ordered before walking away.
As Violet stepped back from Lucas, Lucas asked, "You didn't get oil splashed, right?"
Violet placed her hand behind her back, slowly rubbing the burning wound. She shook her head nonetheless.
"No. Sorry for ruining the pan. I will compensate you for everything," Violet said eagerly. Then, in a self-depreciating tone, she added, "when I can."
"No harm done. The pan is still usable. Why don't you sit over while I prepare breakfast for you?" Lucas vocalized.
"Then, I will clean everything up." Her voice was guilt ridden.
°°°
This was Violet's first time having her meal on the table here, along with everyone. She had her head lowered, her face almost digging into the sandwich.
Violet wasn't always this timid. However, after the recent events in addition to losing her wolf, it made her feel weak and insecure, very much unlike herself.
Therefore, someone with imposing presence like Sylas's made her feel nervous. Fortunately, he concentrated on his food with no extra movements or chats.
Violet raised her head slightly to glance at the man. His elegant and neat movement got her in a trance. It complemented well with his novel features. There was something majestic about Sylas.
What a beautiful man.
His appearance was no way feminine and carried a strong hint of masculinity with every fiber of his being oozing with strong hormones. But it was dangerous.
Sylas was dangerous.
Her instincts screamed.
Those calm yet intense steely blue eyes lifted, meeting with hers. Violet's hazel eyes widened, feeling the guilt of getting caught, and she immediately buried her head in the sandwich.
Unaware of the strange atmosphere between them, Lucas chuckled, looking at Violet.
"Is the sandwich that good? I will make it for you at lunch again," he offered.
