The Runic Alchemist-Chapter 587: Battle At The Edge Of The Snow Valley 7
[At The Entrance Of The Narrow Snow Valley, Damian's POV]
Damian sensed the Sun God die through the open waygate. He felt something off inside his own core when it happened, but the scenery around him gave him no chance to find out what weird side effect killing a god had left on him. If it was another penalty, Damian was really going to be pissed.
First of all, Damian deactivated the fire-proof armor and stored it away. Lucian was lying beside him, unconscious, her chest going up and down. Sam and the others were fighting a bit farther from the center of the pigmen army, in which he stood, clad in his casual black breeches and plain white shirt.
Multiple waygates to Earth were opened on the side, and pigmen warriors were going in one by one hurriedly. He saw Evrin and Sariel, the long-range fighters, trying to run near him while not stopping their attacks for even a second. He didn't need to be told what was going on.
Damian immediately looked back at the pitch-black monsters all around them. Surprisingly, they were all emperor rank—that was one terrifying army. The biggest among them, however, was probably at the beginning of Legendary rank too. Damian sensed Bloodedge high above as well; his mana signature felt a bit stained, like some foreign armor was protecting the real mana inside.
Damian ignored everything else and activated his three sacrium mana cubes at full power, flying up, with enough liquid mana gathered in seconds—he drew multiple runic circles and held them with his mana threads.
First of all, he used meter-thick air shields all around the fighting pigmen and his friends, creating three giant air shield walls to block the black army surrounding all of them. Dreamlight hovered above him—the only one who could still get its light laser attacks across. All others finally stopped fighting, having a chance to breathe.
Soon, Sam, using his lightning form, and the pigmen transcendants, along with his friends, gathered near Lucian after finishing the monsters inside the walls. His friends already had healing potions, so they immediately started giving them to the injured. Damian too activated another runic circle that gave area-wide healing, covering all their forces.
The black monsters were still charging toward everyone through the valley though, and the biggest black pigmen aimed high toward Damian instead of the pigmen army and launched a massive wave of dark pink energy.
A psychic attack.
Damian had noticed the three-layered runic circle forming already and was prepared for it. He did copy the spell, but without access to that element, he could not use it back. Bloodedge above seemed to gather all remaining flying black ones behind him—was the guy going to attack? He wouldn't be that stupid..
The Legendary rank black pigman finally launched its attack. It was slow as hell, not to mention the guy was still over a thousand meters away from them. Damian ignored it after creating a runic circle for a massive wormhole to catch the attack—he did not activate it yet and held it with a mana thread, waiting for the guy's attack to come closer.
Then he quickly positioned his remaining five runic spells facing the black army outside the air shields—thet black army was banging their fists and attacking his air shields from three sides. His runic circles too were placed on the three sides; the black ones could not fly, making them easy targets.
Light attributes seemed to be the most effective against these creatures, so Damian had made all five simple light laser spells—of course, the size of each beam of laser was over hundreds of meters. The more populated left and right sides had two of these spells each, while the less populated back had only one.
Damian activated all of them at once. The sound and heat emanating from such a powerful, oppressive attack made the pigmen warriors wince for a moment, covering their eyes. But once they opened them back, they saw what was nothing less than a miracle to them: an enormous beam of light obliterating all their enemies without any effort.
The power, the size—the pure destructiveness—was far above what even their strongest laser cannons in the city could do. And there were five of such beams all around them, killing the emperor rank black monsters like they were ants—not even worth noting.
As if entranced by the sight, suddenly one of the pigmen warriors muttered, "Gaiz le Kasha.."1
As if it held some magical effect, one by one all the pigmen warriors, even the injured ones lying on their backs, started chanting this one phrase or name—whatever it was—louder and louder. For a second, Damian was surprised, thinking they were launching some new group spell, but nope, it was just some weird thing they were saying again and again. Weird people.
He ignored them and focused on moving his laser spells from side to side, aiming at the whole army, leaving not a single guy standing. freeweɓnovel.cѳm
The only thing the black ones had was rage when not controlled directly by Bloodedge. Fear was an essential emotion for the survival of a living being—the black army lacked that. They didn't even run away from the lasers to save themselves, still running straight toward the half-transparent air shields to kill the pigmen warriors, mindlessly running straight into their doom instead.
Damian aimed a little to the side too and made all the tunnels collapse, blocking the entrance—effectively stopping any more from coming. Finally, the large psychic wave attack came midway through. Damian used the prepared wormhole, not waiting anymore. The wave disappeared into the dark abyss of the wormhole and seconds later appeared right in front of the charging black army—making the emperor rank elite black monsters fall down, bleeding profusely—unmoving in large numbers.
It wiped out half a thousand of them, halting their charge for a second, but soon the backline started trampling the fallen ones and continued their relentless charge. If Damian had to estimate based on the weird mana he was sensing from the black monsters, there were over 100,000 or so monsters behind the giant Legendary rank black one. The narrow valley limited the number, but it spread way out of the valley exit and into the vast empty snow-covered land.
[It means the Brightest Light or The Most Powerful Divine Human—a title referring to Damian in pigmen language.]
