Chapter 210: Sharing Responsibiities

Rory wore warm clothes and came to the garden to have a walk in the evening. She was waiting for Liam’s call there rather than taking a walk.

Liam went to bed late the earlier night and he was tired. She was yet to ask him how the meeting went as he was busy taking care of Ellie who was fuzzy. She knew he would wake up late that morning because he went to bed late.

She answered with a smile when Liam called her. They had an understanding that the one who woke up will call the other person so that no one’s sleep gets disturbed. Rory was feeling a warm fuzzy in her heart as she realized that they were talking through even little things, which made everything easier.

They were very silly back then. Maybe they were too young and immature to marry, and it made everything hard as time progressed. But turns out, marriage is not that hard once you get to an understanding.

"Fizzy!" Rory smiled brightly. "Good morning!"

She couldn’t even see his face as his phone was buried in the sheets.

"Hello! Fizzy?" she called. He probably fell asleep after calling her. She waited for a minute and called him again.

"Ah, yeah... Cherry..." Liam picked up the phone. He took in a deep breath, rubbed his face, and sat up with his phone in his hand. "I fell asleep...sorry..." he picked up the water jug on the nightstand and drank water from it.

That single gulp of water was probably left after she filled it before leaving. He didn’t even properly pour it and ended up spilling it on his face.

Rory gulped. His hair was messed up, he still had sleep in his eyes, and he was not wearing a shirt. The spilled water dripped from his lips and made a stream through his chiseled chest. As he wiped the water with his hand, it made his skin glisten, and she could see how strong his abs were. Even his hands looked bigger than she realized they were.

Seeing him naked was something she was used to when she lived with him. But she had stopped noticing him lately. She didn’t even realize that he had changed a lot. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢

Why is he this hot?

She wanted to kiss his lips as he licked them.

She took in a deep breath and rubbed her neck as she felt warm all over. She loosened the jacket she was wearing. The sun must have gotten warmer as it is going down the horizon and that’s why she was getting warm...

She cleared her throat. She was turned on. That was the truth.

"What is it? Are you crying?" Liam asked. He was worried to see Rory bowing her head and her face looked red.

"No... Nope," Rory smiled. "So, how did the meeting go?" she asked to divert the topic.

Liam enthusiastically talked about the meeting. Rory was glad to know that Liam had some good working loyal employees still willing to follow him.

"But Cherry, someone had bought almost forty percent of the stocks. I might not have to get more investors, after all," he said with a bright smile.

Rory rubbed her ear and smiled rather awkwardly. She didn’t know how he will take it when she tells him that it was, she who bought his company’s stocks when they fell to the bottom. She didn’t have to spend much. She asked her lawyers to do that. She didn’t know when they finalized everything.

"Cherry..." Liam called her. She pressed her lips and kept her head bowed. "Rory!" he raised his voice. "Was that you?"

Rory didn’t want to know what his reaction was and was still bowing her head. He might take it as if she is interfering in his business and trying to control him. But that never was her intention.

"Aurora Maeve Roberts! Look at me right this instant!" Liam’s voice turned deep.

Rory looked at him with a pout. "It was I, alright? I am good at investing. I had some millions lying around... I told you that my grandmother released the accident compensation money I received after my parent’s death, right? I just... Rather than investing in some other stocks, I decided to invest in my husband’s company. I don’t see anything wrong with it. I just wanted to see sure profit!"

She looked him in the eye.

Liam let out a deep breath. She thought he would get offended, but she was shocked to see him with tears in his eyes.

"I didn’t do it to hurt you, Fizzy. I really thought it would be a good investment," she reiterated. That truly was her intention.

"No, Cherry. I’m not hurt..." Liam looked at her. He rubbed his mouth to compose himself. "Do you trust me that much?" he asked.

He knew how hard it is to get money. He’s tried to get investors and he knew how careful the investors are to even spend a million. They would ask a thousand questions about the plans and the fail-safes, make them almost beg and...

Here she is, his wife... With no care in the world, invested that amount, just because she trusts him. At this point, even he doesn’t trust himself that much. He was hesitant to put his money in his company because he feared he might fail. But she... she always trusted him. Even when there was no surety, she trusted him.

Because she loves him that much.

"Of course, I do, Fizzy! Who else am I going to trust other than my husband? I would have asked before investing, but I thought you might stop me. I... Did I overstep?" she asked.

Liam took a deep breath. "Yeah, maybe. But I appreciate what you did. You’ve touched my heart you know," he winked and rubbed his chest.

He would have found other ways to find investments, but she had made it a lot easier for him. And she is right. She is not going to save that amount in some savings account where it would be safe. She would invest it somewhere. Why can’t she invest in his company? Who is he to stop him?

And it is not wrong of her to think that she should take some responsibility in his business when she was the one who asked him to become an emperor. She did tell him that she will help him in any way she can. He cannot get mad at her. He should be worshipping her.

And how lucky is he to have a wife like her? Rather than being someone who stays with her ears shut to whatever happening around her, and protect the millions she has, she is willing to do everything to support him.

"I’m happy," she smiled. His happiness is all she wanted.

"And now you are a partner in my company," he smiled. That is not too bad. In fact, it is perfect. He’s going to tell the world that his wife is his greatest support.

"Fizzy, don’t tell anyone that I am the investor unless that is illegal," she said.

Sidney’s words still rang in her ears. She didn’t want others to mock him for getting ahead using his wife’s money. She didn’t care for other’s opinions, but she didn’t want this to be a problem between them in the future.

Money is the biggest problem between couples, so she was told.

Liam didn’t understand why she doesn’t want others to know how good a wife she is, but if she wants to stay hidden, he will give her what she wants.

"I met Elizabeth Anderson today!" Rory said with a bright smile. She could see that Liam was not hurt or offended by her investment, so she wanted to leave it at that. She was never going to bring it up again.

Loss or gain, it doesn’t have to be mentioned again. He might be the CEO of the business, but she was the one who asked him to repair a sinking ship. She should have some shared responsibilities. And only if he is happy, she and Ellie can be happy too. Happiness is a two-way street.

She hoped Liam succeeds. Because who else is going to stand by his side when he stands as an emperor? It is she!

"Elizabeth...?" Liam walked to the window and opened the curtains. "Ah, one of the horrid twins?" he asked.

"You remember that story I used to tell you?" Rory was surprised. She didn’t think that Liam even listened to her back then. But he had and he still remembered.

"Yeah, you talked a lot about your village then... You only stopped talking about your village after the incident with "fire head"," he said.

As he was speaking, he realized something. He used to listen to her stories even when she repeated them when he was falling in love with her. Whatever she spoke was like the word of an angel for him. He made sure he made mental notes of every single detail so as not to forget them.

When did he stop listening to her?

Yeah... that would be after their marriage and after they started sleeping together. When he "got" her body and soul, he stopped listening to her as he did before. He should start listening to her more in the future.
