The Secret Obsession of the CEO-Chapter 222: The Proposal (5)
Liam let out a sigh. "I haven’t even finished yet and you..."
Rory giggled. "Oops, you had more to say? Sorry... Please continue..." She was a lot more curious about the ring.
"You’re such a..." Liam got up and hugged her.
He couldn’t get angry at her although she interjected him. Rory patted his back and pressed her cheek on his chest.
"Fizzy, don’t feel bad... I am going to be with you, and you can say what you want to me anytime you want. We’ve had our wedding already and marriage is not a one-day spectacle. Marriage is for every day. I promise to be with you in the highs and lows, in sickness and health, and through any circumstances. Life is not perfect and there would come times when we hold resentments or grievances toward each other. Let’s promise not to hold back and let’s talk about our feelings... And I love you," she said.
Liam kissed her head. Of course, she does it all better. He relaxed. He didn’t know why he was feeling nervous at all. This is his wife. And her opinion of him is not going to change no matter how silly he gets in front of her. He will always be a great man in her eyes.
He only then remembered that he had pushed her away when the mood between them was rather...
Ah! I am so stupid! Thank goodness she didn’t get mad at me for pushing her like that. Aww, she must have hurt! What a fool I am!
Rory did not care about anything at all. She was happy Liam made this effort and she loved that he did it for her.
"And about having many kids... I’ll think about it seriously. You should know by now that if that’s your wish, I am going to cave... I can’t go against you," she looked at him.
"I know..." Liam kissed her forehead. "And it only inspires me to become better for your sake."
"Good, now where is the ring?" she asked holding out her hand.
"Ah, geez! How pathetically..."
"Here..." Rory didn’t mind him and shoved her left hand in front of his face. "Ring me..." she said.
Liam took the ring out of the box. Holding her hand, he slipped the ring on her ring finger.
"It fits..." he mumbled. He noted her size and everything but still, he was a little worried. But seeing that ring perfectly fitting her finger he was glad.
Rory was stunned for a moment. She had a feeling he would have bought a new ring and won’t give back his mother’s ring, but this ring...
The rock is big! And is it a colored diamond? Or...is it some other gem?
"Lights," she scratched his shoulder. "Quick..."
Liam smiled. She is stunned. That’s all he wanted to see. She likes it. He turned on his phone torch.
"Wow..." Rory could not believe her eyes. "It’s so...The center stone...Is it sapphire?" she asked. The center stone was surrounded by small white diamonds and the diamonds extended to half of the ring. The white gold was perfect. She loved it. She doesn’t like the ones covered with diamonds. This one... perfect...like the one she always wanted. 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦
"It’s blue diamond, natural," Liam held her hand. He was beyond delighted seeing her smile. Her face had gone red.
"Natural blue diamond?" Rory raised her brows. She’s heard that it is extremely rare. "The Princess cut does it favor... Wow... this is perfect, Fizzy... how did you..." she choked as she couldn’t find words.
She hugged him. "Thank you..."
"Silly, you should not thank me for an engagement ring I gave you this late," he patted her back. How silly is his wife?
"No... It’s so..." Rory buried her face in his chest as she couldn’t control her tears. "You didn’t have to get me this amazing ring... It’s so beautiful!" she looked at him.
"Wait... I can keep it, right? It’s not rented or anything, right? Whatever! I am not giving it back," she hid her hand behind her back.
Liam sighed. His wife is extremely happy, it seems. She has gone dumb. But this is fine. He thought that she would not be happy that he spent a lot on one ring, but he never had to worry about that it seems.
Ah, she always makes me surprised!
"Light! Where’s light? I have to take pictures and send them to everyone..." she ran down the stairs.
Liam chuckled placing his hand on his heart. His heart was pounding out of happiness. He rarely sees her this excited.
"Careful as you step down. The stairs are steep," he shouted behind her.
Rory was floating in the clouds. Liam bought her the prettiest ring there ever could be. Only after getting halfway down did she realize something--if it is perfect, it must have cost an arm and leg.
"Fizzy!" she called for him and got back on the stairs. "You did not borrow money from loan sharks, right?" she asked as she reached him.
"Goodness, woman!" Liam wiped her forehead. "Why are you running like this?"
Ah, my wife is back... Liam smiled.
"Did you?" she grabbed his shirt. "Stop smiling, idiot! It’s not a joke! Ah! Derick... " she looked at him.
She did wonder why Derick would need two and a half million dollars out of nowhere. He said that he was not in any kind of trouble. He said that he will return it in monthly installments.
I should have known!
She pouted. She was not happy that he had spent a lot on the ring. But the ring is too pretty. It deserves to be that expensive when it is that pretty. But does she deserve it?
"Have you heard the phrase "dress for you want to be"?" Liam asked holding her shoulders. "This is our engagement ring. And right or wrong, a man’s status is decided by how well his wife dresses. Cherry, you are my wife. And I’ve gotten a ring for you are going to be--an empress, like you wanted to," he said.
That was the main reason he went for this ring. Also, he might have taken a couple of peeks at her old journals and the magazines she collected.
"Well..." Rory smiled. If he puts it that way, then she totally deserves to wear this big ring.
On their way back, Rory kept on staring at the ring. Liam pretended to be asleep, but he couldn’t help but be glad to see her staring at the ring like that. He closed his eyes for real when she looked at him.
Rory looked at her husband peacefully sleeping. He must be so tired after the travel and all the preparations he made. He was very handsome; she couldn’t take her eyes off him.
"You are amazing, love," she fixed the fringes falling on his forehead. " I love you," she whispered and pressed her lips to his. "Don’t change much, Fizzy... Don’t fall out of love with me..."
She leaned on his shoulder. Liam’s eyes watered. That’s all she wants from the bottom of her heart. She is not asking for more gifts. She just wants his love. That’s all she ever asks.
How did I ever stumble on a gem like you? I must be the luckiest b@stard in this whole world.
When they reached the Campbell mansion, it was almost midnight, and everyone was already asleep. The housekeeper opened the door for them. Rory and Liam apologized to them profusely for disturbing their sleep.
They were told that Ellie was sleeping with the Count and the Countess. Apparently, they thought that they would stay out for the entire night.
Liam glared at Rory. He told her that they can stay in the castle for the night and maybe "christen" their new house. But Rory wanted to be with Ellie.
But... nothing has gone wrong, right? Ellie is still with the elders, and they cannot wake them up in the middle of the night.
That means, he has his wife for the night!
Liam dragged Rory to their room after asking the housekeeper not to wake up anyone on their behalf and that they will take care of their needs.
"Do you want snacks? I brought some," he dragged her up the stairs. "And maybe we should take a warm shower first. We rolled on the stone floor for some time..."
Rory rolled her eyes. Can her dear husband be any more obvious?
But she followed him as if she didn’t understand him. She was tired, but her husband who had crossed the Atlantic that day was much more enthusiastic than she was.
What if she still can’t?
She let out a sigh.
Well... She decided to relax and give it a try. She was having a good time with him, and she can try. Back there, she could... go that far with him. And she thought it is possible. She just has to relax and not think about disappointing Liam.
