On their way back, Rory held Liam’s hand. "You were talking to Mr. Fitzgerald for a long time," she said.

Liam looked humble like a student when he was talking. It was odd to see him like that. There aren’t many people Liam would respect to that extent.

Lennon used to be that guy before everything changed.

"Hmpf..." Liam shrugged. "Just stuff..."

"Really?" Rory raised her brows.

She was a little surprised to see Liam holding back details from her. He has been open with her for a while.

But she decided not to probe. He can have his privacy. And she had a feeling that they had a man-to-man talk. Jeremy Fitzgerald is an older businessman, and it is better if he taught a thing or two to Liam. Liam needs good role models in his life. He’s still growing.

She learned a lot from Jerlina Fitzgerald--patience and being a lady. She was so amazing that she wanted to be her shadow and watch her. She had a good heart, evidenced by how soft-spoken and caring she sounded. It’s the tone of voice and the way she conducted herself, even the little mannerisms... she sounded kind, and she is kind.

It made Rory think. How do I sound to others? She didn’t think that she sounds kind though. That could be a safe bet. She needs to grow.

"I got Jerlina Fitzgerald’s private number," Rory smiled. She was very happy about it. It’s not like she is going to call her to ask about her baby’s diet plan or anything. But she was happy she had her number.

"Good," Liam smiled. He got Jeremy Fitzgerald’s private number too.

And he was a terrific guy to speak with. He had a boatload of knowledge about a lot of things. He even warned him not to cheat or even try to cheat. He also said that he thinks he has a bright future. But he told him to respect his wife.

"Jeremy offered his counsel if I have issues handling my strong wife," Liam said with a smile.

Jeremy said jokingly that the best way to handle it is to just kneel in front of them and ask questions later. He told him that the famous statement that the wife is always right is there for a reason. Jeremy said that many times since a woman’s perspective is different, they see a lot more than a man.

And that makes them right. Mostly about people. They are better judges of people, Jeremy said.

Liam felt that in his soul.

His wife truly was right about a lot of things. He thought she was standing against her and was not understanding him, but she was right. She was right.

"That’s good," Rory smiled. Guess he can’t keep everything to himself.

But wait...

"Who is your strong wife?" she asked. She would never consider herself a strong woman in the colloquial sense. She is not the CEO of a multi-billion-dollar company like Jerlina Fitzwilliam.

Liam looked at her with his eyes squinted. "Are you joking?"

Rory still couldn’t get why a man like Jeremy Fitzgerald who has a wife like Jerlina sees her as a strong woman. She’s been around strong women. She is not one. She’s struggled a lot to be in the better place she is now.

"I can see why you see me as strong because I overcame my problems. I don’t see why others see me as strong though. Maybe they are being polite and replacing brash with strong?" Rory shrugged.

"Ah, whatever," Rory yawned. "I’m so tired."

Liam let her lean on his shoulder. His wife has turned silly again. She still doesn’t realize how strong she is. Not everyone can walk to a psychopath and shake him.

If women’s strength is determined by how "successful" they are, then who would appreciate the strength of the woman who worked in the field to provide for her dozen kids while her husband was drafted to the war? Can it be said that the woman working in the field is not strong because she is not wearing a suit and commands others?

Being strong is not determined by how high up the corporate ladder a woman is. It’s how she could hold herself when times are tough. It’s how she overcomes her struggles one day at a time without giving up.

His wife is the strongest person he knows. Not only she is strong, but she is also his strength. She forgave him even after he did something unforgivable. She never complained and she held on to him even when he didn’t have the strength or courage to face the troubles.

How can she not know?

She is not just strong. She is dangerously strong. People should fear her. And he was so proud of her. He will never stop talking about how awesome his wife is.

He held her hand. She was already asleep. He too was tired. Tomorrow is a big day.

The next morning, Liam and Rory went to the trial on time. Mrs. Brown and the other families who have lost their loved ones in the hands of Lennon Roberts were there too.

Lennon was brought in. He looked defeated as if he no longer wanted to try. As always, his eyes ended up in the direction where Rory was sitting.

Rory was no longer scared. With one hand on her belly(this time it was unconscious) and her other hand holding Liam, she smiled at him.

Lennon did not look pleased.

The judge arrived and the trial started. The prosecution added the case of Liam’s mother’s death. The judge was not pleased with adding it this late at the trial, yet he asked the defense if they had any objections.

The defense didn’t!

Rory was surprised and the trial continued. Rory noticed that the defense team who were like roaring tigers had devolved into meowing kittens all of a sudden. They made mistake after mistake and they even submitted their final argument.

What is happening?

Rory looked at Liam. Liam smiled. It seemed like the defense team was actually working for Gordon Faraday. And they want the judgment to be announced soon.
