The Secret Obsession of the CEO-Chapter 259: Kingdom And Home
"You know that I will never be ashamed of you, Cherry. You know it..." Liam tried to hold her but she scoffed and walked away from him.
Liam watched her drinking water. He could see that she was trying to calm herself down.
"Then why?" Rory turned to face him. "We’ve been through this. We’ve talked about this already. I told you what I feel."
Liam nodded. "You did. I was checking to see if you had changed your mind. That is all..."
"NO." Rory threw her hands up. "Still haven’t changed my mind."
Rory took a gulp of water, threw back her head, and let the cold water slowly go down her throat. She didn’t know if it was her pregnancy hormones or her character. She knew she was getting too angry for something that doesn’t have to be made an issue.
She knew her husband was not ashamed of her. And he certainly does not want her to earn to support the family or anything. He must be saying that out of care for her.
She tried to calm herself down.
"You were surprised others see you as strong, Cherry... I thought you were feeling down... I am not forcing you to do one thing or another. I just want you to be confident whatever you do, that’s it..." Liam said and walked to her. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
He did wonder if she was currently unhappy. That’s why he suggested it. But it seems like she really had made her decision.
"Oh, Fizzy...my darling..." Rory walked to Liam and hugged him. "I’m sorry for lashing out at you... I know you wouldn’t feel ashamed of me, ever. I shouldn’t have gotten angry at you..."
Liam kissed her. "You were not lashing out. You were talking," he said. "And thank you for talking to me about your feelings. I appreciate that."
Rory was confused. She definitely lashed out.
"You tried to control your anger, Cherry. I appreciate that. You didn’t storm out or hide your thoughts from me. You openly told me what you felt."
"Oh," Rory understood him. He is being so understanding of her. "Thank you too... For not escalating or walking out. Thank you for explaining your side," she rubbed his back.
"I tried," Liam said. "Next time when we disagree, we can follow this method."
"Okay," Rory agreed. They should try and communicate without getting into a fight. It’s important.
"And... Fizzy, that day, I was not feeling little about myself. Everyone saw me as Agnes Roberts’ granddaughter. I didn’t like that. I agree. But... I wanted to be known as your wife," she patted his shoulder.
"I want people to murmur "she’s Liam Roberts’ wife" when I walk closer to them. And they all should try and start a conversation with me because of who you are. I know people are talking to you about me because of my grandmother. I want that to change. It’s not because I feel less about you. It’s because I want you to... How can I put it?" she rubbed his chest with her hands.
Liam smiled. "I understand," he said. "You don’t want to be the princess. You want me to build a kingdom and make you a queen."
"Yep," Rory poked his chest with a bright smile. "That’s exactly what I want. You already got me a castle. Become a King, Liam. I want to stand by your side as your sole queen. Build me a kingdom, Fizzy, as I build you a home to find rest."
Yeah, she might not be ambitious enough. Her ambitions only involve her husband. It’s not because she thinks less of herself. She likes building him a home. That was her priority. She didn’t care about what others might say or think.
Liam hugged her. "I will need a home," he said. "And only you can build me a perfect home. My lovely wife, my friend, my lover, and my mother... You are my everything."
"People might call me a trophy wife, would they?" she looked at him with her eyebrows furrowed. "Nah... we are the same age and we are together forever. They can’t call me names."
"You’re right. When you married me, I was nothing," Liam shrugged.
"Don’t say that," Rory hit his arm.
"It’s the truth though," Liam insisted. "What was I? A boy with a high school diploma? I didn’t even have a job then."
"Yeah? And?" Rory sighed. "Don’t say you were nothing. You were still the man you are now... just rough... like an uncut diamond... You were someone with potential and even you didn’t know it. Everyone knew the potential inside you. Otherwise, do you think my grandfather would have agreed to our marriage? I don’t think so."
Liam nodded. She does make a good point. "Even my family wouldn’t have agreed to ruin your life if they didn’t trust me..."
"Yeah!" Rory said. Uncle Frank wouldn’t have let Liam ten feet near her if Liam was really a useless guy. "So, don’t say that you were nothing. Say that you had nothing," she smiled playfully.
"That is right. You were a millionaire then. And I had two hundred dollars in my bank account," Liam laughed.
Rory hugged him. "But you are wonderful. I am so glad I married you."
Liam rubbed her back. "You should know that you are my strength, Cherry. With you by my side, I can do anything..."
Rory leaned on him.
"Maybe I’ll learn some investment techniques and write "Investor" next to my name. And as you get richer, I’ll take care of the foundation you start and help people... Arrange parties and charity auctions and other stuff rich people do. For now, I am going to be a mother. I like being a mother and... a wife. Our castle is not going to get decorated on its own," Rory shrugged.
His prestige ties to her, she knew. Although she didn’t think that no one would dare to complain to Liam that he married a dull woman, she wanted to be something. But only later.
For now, she just wanted peace and rest. She wanted to give Liam a serene place to rest after his tiring day.
"As you wish, my lady," Liam kissed her. "When are you going to tell me?" he asked.
"About what?" Rory asked.
Liam sighed. His eyes unconsciously ended up on her belly.
Rory’s heart skipped a beat.
