The Seven Sisters and Their Hidden King-Chapter 204: Martial Arts Competition (I)
Chapter 204 - 204: Martial Arts Competition (I)
Adam's loud, triumphant laughter echoed through the entire Kelvin estate, startling everyone in the family.
What's going on with the old ancestor? Has he gone mad? they wondered.
The martial arts competition with the Welch family was scheduled for the day after tomorrow. The mood across the Kelvin household was somber, heavy with despair. Everyone knew that this could very well be a disaster for them—victory seemed nearly impossible.
And yet, at this grim moment, their ancestor suddenly erupted into joyous laughter. Those unaware of the situation feared he'd finally snapped under the pressure.
There's no way God is blessing the Kelvin family... surely, this is a sign of doom.
For a family gripped by hopelessness, this strange display only deepened their dread. There is no grief greater than despair.
Everyone rushed toward the backyard, but none dared enter. Without explicit permission from their ancestor, they didn't even step past the threshold.
Alfred arrived soon after.
A middle-aged man asked urgently, "Dad, what's going on with Grandpa?"
The man was Tanner—Alfred's eldest son and one of the key figures in the Kelvin family's middle generation.
Alfred didn't answer directly. Instead, he issued a firm order: "Stay right here. No one is allowed to enter or disturb your ancestor."
His voice trembled, and his expression was filled with elation. Tanner and the others noticed immediately—even Father looks ecstatic?
Ignoring their questions, Alfred strode into the backyard, full of excitement. John followed closely behind.
Just as they stepped forward, Tanner barked, "Hey! Who are you—? Wait, you're not a member of the Kelvin family!"
Up until now, everyone had been too focused on the commotion in the backyard to notice the unfamiliar face trailing Alfred.
But before John could speak, Alfred turned around and shouted sternly, "Watch your mouth! Don't be rude to Senior Lopez!"
Senior Lopez?!
The Kelvin family members were stunned.
Why would Alfred call such a young man "senior"?
Before they could make sense of it, Alfred turned to John with great reverence and said, "Please, Senior Lopez—this way. My father must be eager to see you."
John nodded calmly and followed Alfred into the backyard, leaving the rest of the family completely speechless.
Matt, the second son of the Kelvin family, murmured, "Brother, do you think Grandpa broke through his bottleneck?"
Everyone stiffened.
Given the situation, that was the only explanation that made sense. There was no way both Alfred and the ancestor had gone mad at the same time.
Lydia added, "Second Brother might be right. Just earlier in the main hall, I heard Father say that the Wodehouse and Welch families would regret this. He seemed extremely confident about the martial arts competition."
"Hiss—"
Gasps of disbelief echoed all around.
If that were true—if their ancestor had broken through just two days before the competition—then the heavens truly had blessed the Kelvin family.
Meanwhile, in the backyard...
Adam had rushed out of the pavilion, his face alight with joy.
As Alfred had suspected, Adam could barely contain his excitement. He had been waiting eagerly to see John and thank him personally. Without John's help, he never could have broken through to the peak of the Heaven Realm—especially not at such a critical moment.
"Senior, please accept my deepest gratitude once again!"
The moment Adam saw John, he bowed low, his voice filled with emotion.
John shook his head and said, "There's no need. This is the result of your own effort. You've worked hard and accumulated this foundation over many years. My painting alone couldn't have pushed you to the peak."
Truth be told, John had been surprised himself. He hadn't realized Adam had been stuck at this bottleneck for so long.
But Adam was adamant. "Please don't downplay it, Senior. Without your guidance, I don't know how much longer I'd have remained stuck."
John smiled. "So then, do you still need me to fight Sawyer for you?"
"No need, Senior," Adam declared firmly. "This time, I'll deal with Sawyer myself. I once drove the Welch family out of Chicago, and now I'll do it again. Only this time—I won't give them another chance to come back."
Adam radiated renewed strength and vigor. Having made his breakthrough, he looked younger than Alfred.
More importantly, his confidence had returned.
In the world of martial artists, long-standing grudges were monitored by the Martial Arts League. Random massacres between families could cause catastrophic consequences.
That's why both families had agreed to a formal competition—with serious stakes:
The loser must withdraw from Chicago and surrender 90% of their assets to the victor.
Years ago, Adam had defeated Howard, the ancestor of the Welch family. But at the time, he had shown mercy—he only took half of their assets and allowed them to leave peacefully.
No one had expected that, years later, the Welch family would return to Chicago and repeatedly challenge the Kelvin family's authority.

Despite their martial legacy, many of the Kelvin family's younger generation were ordinary civilians. If the Welch family ever resorted to foul tactics—like assassinating key younger members—the Martial Arts League might not be able to protect them in time.
So Adam had no choice. He had to go all out.
His only regret was not crushing the Welch family more decisively the first time.
Now, turning to Alfred—who was beaming with joy—Adam's expression shifted.
He looked back at John and asked, "Senior, this old goat didn't mistreat you while I was breaking through, did he?"
John glanced at Alfred, his brows tightening slightly.
The sight made Alfred break out in a cold sweat.
But then John smiled and said, "No. The old goat's been very respectful. He served me tea, bowed, kowtowed—very diligent."
Alfred let out a long breath of relief.
Adam also chuckled. "Good, good. If I had heard he slighted you, I'd have smashed his head myself!"
