Chapter 392: Did we... do it?

"What is that?" Roland asked as he observed the substance traveling inside them. It was violet in color, slightly glowing, and slowly moving downward.

"I do not know... I have never seen anything like this," Silvan replied, his gaze filled with curiosity.

Both of them were tired and exhausted from the battle. But they had only a few wounds that had not healed completely because they were too deep. With Silvan’s help, most of their injuries had been treated.

The place was dark. But not completely black. Without any light. The place was slightly brightened by those soft violet glow inside the pipes.

"We should move up... and see where those stairs lead," Silvan said as he turned toward the stairs built along the walls, spiraling upward.

Roland nodded. "Yes... we should."

Both of them began walking on the spiral stairs.

---

Roland and Silvan continued climbing the spiral stairs along the inner wall of the tower.

At first, they walked normally, their footsteps echoing in the massive hollow space. The sound of their boots hitting the metal and stone steps repeated again and again, disappearing into the endless height above them.

After a few minutes, Roland looked upward and sighed. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮

"At this speed, it will take too much time," he said, slightly out of breath.

Silvan nodded. "You are right. We should run."

Without wasting more time, both of them began to run up the spiral stairs.

Their bodies were tired from the battle outside. Their muscles ached, and their wounds still hurt. But they were both strong individuals. Running several kilometers was not impossible for them, even in their current condition.

Their footsteps became faster and louder as they ran upward in circles again and again. The walls, pipes, and machines kept repeating beside them as they climbed higher and higher inside the tower.

Minutes passed. Then more time passed.

Neither of them spoke anymore. They focused only on moving forward and climbing higher. Their breathing became heavier, but they did not stop.

Finally, after a long climb, they saw something ahead.

A floor platform. "We are close," Roland said.

They increased their speed and quickly reached the top floor. Both of them stepped onto the platform and stopped for a moment to catch their breath.

Then they looked forward. And both of them froze from the sight inside.

In front of them was a huge hall filled with machines. Massive structures were etched into the ground and walls. From every direction, thick pipes ran across the floor and walls, all moving toward the middle of the hall.

And in the middle... Something was floating. It was a huge violet crystal.

The crystal was massive. Around twenty meters tall and almost equally wide. Its shape was uneven, like a naturally grown crystal, with many sharp edges and flat surfaces. It slowly floated in the air.

It was inside a huge glass chamber, and all those pipes were connected to that chamber. Strange glowing patterns were engraved everywhere on the glass and the floor around it.

The crystal glowed faintly violet. Some kind of energy was leaving from it. And then it travel through those pipes. Which also had a slight glow as something moved inside them.

Roland and Silvan slowly walked forward, carefully observing everything.

"This... must be the core of the tower," Silvan said quietly.

Roland nodded. "Most likely."

In front of the glass chamber, there was a waist-length pillar. On top of it was a transparent panel, smooth like glass.

Both of them approached it slowly. They looked around again, trying to understand how to deactivate the tower, but nothing looked like a switch or lever.

Silvan frowned. "I do not see any mechanism."

Roland looked at the transparent panel. "This might be it."

He slowly raised his hand and placed his palm on the transparent panel.

Nothing happened for a second. Then Roland sent a very small amount of mana into it.

Suddenly, the transparent panel lit up slightly. Inside the panel, two options appeared in glowing letters.

[Do you want to deactivate it?]

[Yes / No]

Roland looked at Silvan. Both of them stared at the panel for a moment in silence. They don’t know whats going on.

"Are they asking to...deactivate this?" Roland asked cautiously. Not knowing if this was right or not.

Silvan nodded slowly. "I think this is it...Do it. Click on yes."

Roland did not hesitate anymore. He raised his hand and pressed on Yes. The moment he touched it, a huge metallic sound came from the glass chamber.

CLANGGGGGG!!!

The entire hall echoed with the heavy sound of metal moving somewhere inside the machines.

The violet crystal suddenly lost its glow. The light inside the pipes began to fade. One by one, the glowing patterns on the walls, floor, and glass chamber started turning dark.

The humming sound that had been filling the tower slowly stopped. Everything began shutting down.

Within a few seconds, the faint light that came from the crystal and pipes disappeared completely.

And then everything went black.

Total darkness filled the hall. Since the place was brightened by those slight glowing.

Roland and Silvan stood there in complete darkness, unable to see anything.

Only their breathing could be heard. In the pitch-black darkness, Roland muttered quietly,

"Did we... do it?"

---

Outside the southern tower.

The moment Roland clicked on yes option.

A huge shockwave shot from the tower. With a metallic sound.

Everyone outside tried to covered themselves from the shockwave. Then looked at the black tower. Which for some reason looked more lifeless.

The final ten weak rank monsters who were injured looked at the tower.

Suddenly then fell in ground. Without any life in them.

"What happened to them suddenly?" One of the group memeber who was still fighting questioned.

"They suddenly fell..." One knelt beside beside the monster. Only to found it dead.

Julian stared at the scene. Then looked back the tower.

"Did...did he deactivated it?" He questioned. His eyes were trembling.

---

At that time on eastern tower.

Something unbelievable was going on. Something that no one had predicted..

Vetaal who was away from all towers started to float in direction of eastern tower. Where Amon was present. He was in hurry. He had a worried expression.

It was as if something was happening. Which was not good in any way.
