The Soft-Hearted Wife of Mr. Big Shot-Chapter 182: Christmas Is Coming
Christmas is approaching, and the streets are filled with a festive atmosphere. There are Christmas trees set up at the entrances of shops, decorated with all sorts of things.
The Christmas spirit is strong.
"I don’t know why, but now everyone is so into Western holidays."
Holly Sawyer sat on the sofa munching on an apple, speaking leisurely, her tone light.
It seems like there are so many holidays throughout the year, and each one has to be celebrated in a big way.
Apart from traditional holidays, even the smaller ones are celebrated with some pomp, and stores often have promotional activities to attract customers.
Leo Grant chuckled without saying a word, as there’s no clear answer to these things.
"But, my Santa, have you prepared my Christmas gift?"
Holly stretched out her hand towards Leo, slowly asking, with a glint of amusement in her eyes.
Well, many people have Christmas gifts, and she also wanted one.
"I’m working on it. If others have Christmas gifts, of course, you should have one too."
Leo gently ruffled Holly’s hair, speaking softly and tenderly.
Whatever others have, Holly should certainly have too.
If other kids have things, their dear kid should also have them.
"Really?"
The smile on Holly’s face grew even more pronounced, and she blinked.
Well, it was just something she mentioned casually.
"Brother, look down there."
Holly opened the window, signaling Leo to look outside, with undisguised excitement in her eyes.
Outside on the snowy ground, there was a big Christmas tree, adorned with socks, ornaments, and Santa hats...
Snow lay on the branches, and the tree was dusted with white snowflakes, looking truly beautiful with a dreamy feeling.
"Do you like it?"
Leo took out a scarf and wrapped it around Holly, speaking indulgently.
It’s very pretty, perhaps because Christmas is here, and that’s why a tree like this was specially prepared to add to the atmosphere.
Holly nodded, "I like it."
People love beautiful things, and she’s no exception; she truly likes it.
Leo nodded, "Hmm."
"After Christmas, I’ll bring it back home."
Leo said, immersed in the Christmas mood, not wanting to disrupt it, thinking about bringing the tree back to their place after the holiday.
"No need, after Christmas, the tree won’t have the same feeling."
Holly shook her head and replied.
Some things only have a big impact at that specific time, and once it’s passed, they lose their intended meaning.
The Christmas tree really adds to the atmosphere during Christmas, but after the holiday, the vibe quickly fades, and no one will pay much attention to it on the street.
The meaning of life is truly a fascinating thing.
It’s like with some people; once missed, it’s a lifetime’s matter with no turning points.
They are important at that time, but once the time has passed, they may seem insignificant.
"Hmm, I understand."
Leo nodded, contemplating some things in his heart.
Since the little girl likes it, he thought of giving her a surprise.
"Brother, I have an appointment with someone, and I’ll be going out later."
Holly glanced at the time and spoke slowly.
Well, the time is almost up, and she needs to get ready to leave.
"Do you want me to take you?"
Leo asked.
Holly shook her head. The place isn’t far, quite close, so she can go on her own.
——
The atmosphere inside the hotpot restaurant was great; winter and hotpot are a perfect match. Holly had lost count of how many times she’d eaten hotpot since winter.
Probably couldn’t even count it on both hands.
"Been waiting long?"
Holly headed directly toward a spot by the window, smiling at the person seated there.
Sitting there was a woman with long, voluminous blonde curls, wearing a bright red wool coat and a white knitted dress underneath, with sunglasses on her face.
She had a bit of a Western look, giving off an aura of "do not approach."
"No, I just got here too."
Seeing Holly, Cecilia Bennett took off her sunglasses, her eyes filled with a happy light as she looked at Holly, smiling broadly.
She had also just arrived, having just sat down herself.
"You look much fairer, does the water and soil abroad suit you?"
Holly sat down, jokingly scanning Cecilia from head to toe.
She and Cecilia had grown up together, playing and going to school together, once inseparable.
When they were sixteen, Cecilia went abroad, and besides occasional chats and gifts, they didn’t have much contact.
They hadn’t seen each other in a long time, but meeting up still felt warm, like nothing had changed from back then.
Some friendships never deteriorate; even if they don’t see each other for ages, or connect often, meeting again feels just the same, with unchanged closeness.
Cecilia laughed, "Of course."
"You’ve gained quite a bit of weight, is it that after having a boyfriend, you no longer care about your figure?"
Cecilia glanced Holly up and down, noticing that Holly’s face had a bit more flesh.
They had just video-called a few months ago, and Holly wasn’t this chubby then.
They both were busy, especially Cecilia, who studied medicine, always swamped with experiments and surgeries, constantly busy day after day.
She planned to return home from abroad for good, having spent several months transitioning her work, during which they rarely contacted each other.
"No way, it’s just the food is too good, and I can’t control my mouth."
Holly bit her lip gently and replied slowly.
It was all because of Leo; he always tempted her with delicious food, and she couldn’t help but eat more.
The consequence of eating more was gaining weight, and there wasn’t much she could do about it.
"Yes, yes, it’s different with a boyfriend’s daily pampering."
Cecilia covered her mouth, laughing, teasing Holly as her eyes glinted with amusement.
She hadn’t expected Holly to have a boyfriend so soon, while she was still firmly single.
"Come on, stop talking about me, tell me about you."
"I don’t believe you don’t have suitors, you’re just not interested in them, right?"
Holly teased.
Cecilia was the sophisticated beauty type, with striking looks and a Western vibe, undoubtedly having no shortage of admirers.
"Oh, my appeal isn’t small, but unfortunately, they’re all oddballs."
Cecilia sighed.
No one caught her interest, so she wasn’t very intrigued.
