The Soft-Hearted Wife of Mr. Big Shot-Chapter 231: Rose Sawyer Visits Again
The two walked into the store; there weren’t many customers, and the young ladies weren’t busy.
"Sister, I want five spicy fried duck feet and some fried duck wings."
Holly Sawyer said, feeling like she could already smell the aroma, saliva pooling in her mouth.
She hadn’t had it in a long time and really missed it.
Leo Grant didn’t quite understand a foodie’s obsession with a particular delicacy, but he thought as long as Holly Sawyer was happy, nothing else mattered much.
After the young lady packed it up, Holly Sawyer couldn’t wait to pick up a duck foot and started gnawing on it; it was full of color, fragrance, and taste, with a crispy texture that crunched satisfyingly.
"It’s really delicious."
Holly Sawyer spoke with food in her mouth, making her words a bit unclear.
She truly found it tasty.
"If it’s good, eat more of it."
Leo Grant gently ruffled Holly Sawyer’s hair, his voice extraordinarily tender.
He always felt that when it came to food, Holly Sawyer had no bounds, like she’d been starving for a long time, which made people chuckle.
The two wandered around, Leo Grant bought nothing; Holly Sawyer did all the shopping, and all she bought were snacks.
Clothing stores, accessory shops, gift shops, Holly Sawyer didn’t even glance at them, diving straight into every food shop.
Absolutely devoted to food, other things could stand aside as they held no meaning for her.
Stinky tofu, preserved mustard pork belly buns, sticky rice, salted egg yolk and taro toast, grilled cold noodles, takoyaki...
A whole series of delicious snacks.
Holly Sawyer’s hands were empty, while Leo Grant’s hands were full, holding all the items. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞
Seeing Holly Sawyer so happy, Leo Grant felt his mood improve as well.
"Brother, why do you think there are so many delicious things in the world?"
Holly Sawyer looked up at Leo Grant, slowly asking with sincerity in her eyes.
She really wanted to know.
"People regard food as their primary concern, so there’s a lot of delicious food."
Leo Grant said with a smile, his voice indulging and gentle.
Why is there so much delicious food in the world? Probably no one knows; there just simply is.
When they got home, Rose Sawyer was quietly lying on the sofa, with the lights off in the room, in the darkness, Leo Grant and Holly Sawyer were startled.
"What the hell, what’s going on?"
"Not turning on the lights, trying to scare people to death."
"You almost gave me a heart attack!"
When Holly Sawyer saw Rose Sawyer, her heart nearly jumped out of her chest, almost giving her a heart attack.
She had given Rose Sawyer a key, so it was normal for her to come in.
But coming in and lying on the sofa without turning on the light, what on earth was this heavenly move?
Holly Sawyer even had the urge to strangle Rose Sawyer, she was really shocked.
"Oops, I forgot."
Rose Sawyer leisurely sat up from the sofa, yawning as she spoke.
Holly Sawyer: "..."
Leo Grant was surprised as well but didn’t dare say a word and silently walked into the kitchen.
He wouldn’t dare criticize Holly Sawyer’s mother in the least.
"So tell me, why the sudden visit?"
Holly Sawyer sat down, Leo Grant had already placed all the snacks they bought on the coffee table.
"What do you mean sudden? You really don’t know how to speak."
Rose Sawyer took a fried duck foot to munch on, giving Holly Sawyer a sidelong glance.
The word ’sudden’ didn’t quite fit here.
"What, getting more annoyed the more you try to relax?"
Holly Sawyer raised an eyebrow, teasingly speaking.
Clicking her tongue, Rose Sawyer used to appear and disappear mysteriously, but now that she returned, they’ve bumped into each other three times already.
Not exactly bumped into, one encounter and twice she just showed up on her own.
Rose Sawyer gave Holly Sawyer an eye-roll: "No."
"I just missed you a little."
Rose Sawyer licked her lips, speaking slowly.
Holly Sawyer: "..."
Whoa, telling the truth?
How come Rose Sawyer never said such things before?
It was truly unbelievable.
"Really missed you."
Rose Sawyer emphasized again, her tone sounding quite earnest.
Holly Sawyer was silent, looking at Rose Sawyer as if she had seen a ghost, feeling like Rose Sawyer might have been possessed.
"You’re not feverish."
Holly Sawyer reached out to feel Rose Sawyer’s forehead, speaking slowly.
"Get away."
Rose Sawyer slapped Holly Sawyer’s hand away.
"I’m serious, why don’t you believe me at all?"
Rose Sawyer shot Holly Sawyer a look.
In truth, she did miss Holly Sawyer a little.
She hadn’t felt this way in years, but as she got older, inexplicably, she’s been feeling sentimentally attached to home and her only daughter.
"Do you think your words are very credible?"
Holly Sawyer countered.
The relationship she had with Rose Sawyer had been the same for years; now with this sudden sentimental scene from Rose Sawyer, never mind Holly, anyone would find it hard to believe.
It’s someone suddenly acting out of character; anyone would think it was unbelievable.
"Alright, maybe not very credible."
Rose Sawyer was silent for a moment, slowly speaking.
"By the way, when are you two getting married?"
Rose Sawyer suddenly asked.
"Are you nuts?"
Holly Sawyer was taken aback by Rose Sawyer’s words, giving Rose Sawyer a look, unable to believe these words came from her.
Unbelievable, how long have she and Leo Grant been together? No need to rush into marriage.
"You should get married soon and give me a chubby grandson. Then I can stay at home and take care of the baby for you while you two do whatever you want."
Rose Sawyer casually picked up some milk tea, inserted a straw, took a sip, and spoke slowly, not sounding like she was joking.
Holly Sawyer: "..."
She seriously thought Rose Sawyer had been swapped, since she never used to say things like this.
She’d always say, you can have as many kids as you want when you marry, but don’t expect me to help. You’ll be on your own.
"I’m serious, not kidding."
Facing Holly Sawyer’s gaze, Rose Sawyer solemnly said, her tone serious.
Joking?
Sorry, she really wasn’t.
Maybe it’s age catching up, feeling old; she now just wants to stay home and has grown a bit attached to it.
Holly Sawyer kept silent, continually observing Rose Sawyer, trying to detect any different signals from her demeanor.
In the end, she found none.
"I’ll stay for a few days, then go back to celebrate New Year with my girlfriends without disturbing you two lovebirds."
Rose Sawyer yawned, speaking slowly.
Holly Sawyer remained silent, merely looking continuously at Rose Sawyer.
"Stop looking at me, I’m serious."
Rose Sawyer spoke slowly.
Well, she was really serious, actually.
"I really don’t feel like talking to you."
Holly Sawyer lifted her eyelids, speaking slowly.
Truly, she didn’t feel like talking.
"Dinner’s ready."
Leo Grant poked his head out from the kitchen at the right moment.
