The Sole Prince of the Fallen Kingdom-Chapter 28. A Living Legend.
Chapter 28 - 28. A Living Legend.
Blink
"Hrnggh!" Waking up while stretching his arms wide, Aiden took a deep yawn and noticed something weird with his body.
He was not feeling any pain anywhere.
The skin burns he had from the serpent's venom were rejuvenated with new life.
The wounds that he suffered in the fight against the Serpent were all healed up.
No blood was seeping out, and even his leg, which was swollen due to poison, was back to its normal condition.
He was fully healed, back to fit.
"What happened? Am I dreaming?" Aiden muttered in denial as he checked himself again and again.
His fingers trembled as he traced over his leg where the scales pierced his muscles.
It had been completely restored to its original state.
His back felt extremely agile, and the backbone felt completely attached, unlike it should have been after that impact with the boulder.
All of it seemed like a miracle.
A pure miracle.
He felt as if his fight against the serpent was a mere dream, though the Skull on which he woke up was proof enough.
Proof that he was not insane.
It's all real, but how?
How did all the injuries get healed overnight?
Did I also awaken something akin to supreme regeneration—?
"Oi, you finally up, kid? Feel like someone dropped a boulder on ya still, or all patched up?"The heavy voice of an old man who had puffed many cigarettes in his time reached Aiden's ears, making his thoughts cut abruptly.
He turned his neck around cautiously to see ...no one?
What? I'm sure I heard the voice of an old man.
Weird...
Everything's Weird...
"Down here, featherbrain! Look properly!"
The voice came again, and following the direction of the voice, Aiden saw a bird sitting on top of the bottom half of the Serpent.
A gorgeous creature that entranced one every time they looked towards it.
"Ephy!!!!" Aiden lunged towards Ephy in delight, forgetting everything for an instant.
Ah—! Wait.
The voice came from this direction, too, wasn't it?
"Hah! Jumpin' like that, you're fine alright." Ephy spoke.
It actually did.
More so, in the voice of an old man who had smoked cigarettes for days.
"Did you just... speak, Ephy?" Aiden extended his right index finger towards the creature, poking it to confirm its existence.
His mind still hadn't been able to process the information his senses sent its way.
He refused to believe what he was seeing.
"You bet your sorry feathers I did. Took ya long enough to notice."Ephy flew up high in the air as he said that.
The stark contrast of the voice from the creature's body had him frozen like an Icicle from the shock.
"Alright, alright, enough gawkin'. Guess I oughta do this proper."
As the words left his mouth, the frost storm around the area got fiercer, the wind picked up its pace, making a whistling sound as it passed through trees and narrow caves in nature.
The pointy leaves and the snowy bushes rustled while the perfect snowflakes descended slowly.
"Name's Zephyrix. Ice Phoenix, if we're bein' formal. Living fossil, if you ask me."
An ethereal silvery-blue flash covered the sky, blinding him.
Its radiance, as bright as that of a Starlight.
As the light gradually dimmed and Aiden gained the capability to see again, the little Ephy was gone, and a mythical creature was before him.
Its plumage was a shimmering beauty of Icy blues, crystalline white, and opalescent silver.
Each feather seemingly an utmost carefully crafted particle of snow, reflecting every part of light as it falls on them.
Its eyes were majestic like a pale blue snowflake shining under the moonlight.
Wings spanning to an extreme extent, making the body of the Serpent of the storm look tiny in comparison, and as they flap, an aurora's veil follows.
A long and flowing tail that leaves a drifting mist's trail glimmering with spiraling snowflakes.
And the glacial crystal talons, giving an enchanting yet dangerous edge.
He, Zephyrix, was beautifully mesmerizing.
"Zephyrix? The Ice Phoenix? It truly exist?" Aiden pondered the name, and his pupils dilated, as several emotions welled up inside him that he tried to keep a lid on.
Awe, Marvel, Greed.
And numerous others.
But one was the most prominent among them — Rage.
Rage, as the Zephyrix was supposed to be the Guardian of Everhart's.
He was even the main attraction of their flag.
He was the being they respected the most.
And how many stories has he heard of him and Hero Alfred from Elsie and Azriel? ...Too much to count.
Yet, when his father and their kingdom needed him the most, he didn't appear.
And now, when everything's gone, reduced to nothing.
Now, he was showing himself in front of HIM?!
An individual who isn't even a true Everhart.
"You are Zephyrix, ...Ephy?" Aiden said, seeking a refutation that it was a lie.
His blood was boiling.
His fingers were trembling.
He knew that despite his anger and disappointment, he wouldn't even be able to scratch him.
Yet—
"Yeah, that's me. Said it already, didn't I? Don't make me repeat myself, throat's already scratchy."
Yet, the moment he affirmed, he manifested the Death Scythe.
"Why didn't you show up before?"
Aiden asked as the winds around the area got fiercer.
Gusts loud and strong enough to tear up the branches of trees.
"Been buggin' me since that wrassle with the snake, you've got two sovereigns backin' you, don't ya?"Zephyrix said, ignoring the weapon in his hands, the change in his tone, and his question.
"...Why didn't you show up before?" Without heeding to his words, Aiden repeated his words as the winds started converging near the area at extreme pressure.
Numerous water needles appeared behind him.
Electrical Sparks ran through the Harbinger of Death, injuring his perfectly healed arm, but he wasn't paying attention to any of it.
His gaze and focus were solely fixed on Zephyrix.
"Hmph. If you mean the snake fight, I got my reasons—" Zephyrix tried to respond, but his words were cut short by him.
"That's not what I'm asking!" Aiden shouted, and a water needle sprang forward, freezing and dropping to the ground just before hitting Zephyrix.
"...Then, about what are you talking about?" Zephyrix asked seriously, making his voice deep.
The Unexpected behavior of Aiden puzzled him.
"Oh, so playing dumb, are we?" Aiden scoffed, "Millions of People died. Thousands lost their cherished ones. Father died. The entire Irin got reduced to rubble."
"And you are asking about what I'm talking about?"
Aiden pointed his Scythe towards Zephyrix, lightning running through it.
"If you existed all this time, then why..." Aiden said, his voice getting heavier with emotion.
It was getting extremely challenging for him to mask his emotions with every passing moment.
"Then why didn't you show up when those people were dying?"
"Why didn't you appear when Father was fighting against those monsters alone?"
"Why didn't YOU SAVE THE KINGDOM THAT TREATED YOU LIKE THEIR GUARDIAN DIETY?!" Aiden shouted desperately, as the barrage of water needles shot forward, the winds closed in towards Zephyrix.
"WHY ARE YOU SHOWING UP NOW THAT EVERYTHING'S GONE?"
Tear drops frozen on the corner of his eyes; Aiden lunged forward with the Scythe to attack Zephyrix.
However, before anything could hit Zephyrix, A Glacial storm occurred, nullifying every single thing.
"IF ONLY YOU COULD HAVE SHOWN UP—"
An Aurora's veil following the storm drained every single bit of Aiden's energy instantly, shaking his consciousness, having the Death Scythe unsummoned.
"Kid..."
"If I had a silver for every time someone screamed at me like that, I'd have a mountain by now. But this ain't the time for talkin'."

"You're too riled up. Rest those bones of yours. Then yell all you want later."
Gently placing his wings behind Aiden's back as if hugging him, Zephyrix said with slight anger.
Everything that Aiden had said weighed on his mind and occupied his thoughts.
"~Sob, only... only I should have died there." Mumbling under his breath, Aiden lost his consciousness in the embrace of Zephyrix.
"Tch... What the hell happened out there, kid..."
Zephyrix pondered the worst, subconsciously bringing winter early throughout the entire Human Continent.
