The SSS Ranked Villain's Return-Chapter 107: The Curse Soothing Potion
"This cure... it involves her succumbing to bloodlust for an extended period of time," the alchemist explained. "We have tried our best to alter her cells so that once she does go down this path, it will go smoothly."
The words sounded convincing, yet Neraxis frowned the entire time.
"You say that, yet for some reason, you never got the go-ahead?" he said, approaching the table and picking up a certain red vial. "You collect her blood and even experiment on it."
Just like those fuckers back then. Neraxis’s frown deepened as his gaze locked onto theirs.
"There is no cure, is there? At least not one you’ve found," he accused, and watched as one of the alchemists flinched, confirming his suspicions.
"We apologize... But truly, that is the only thing we came up with. Her condition is impossible to cure, and if we let her do whatever she wants, she’d eventually calm down!" The alchemist stood up and protested.
"It sounds to me like you’re useless then," Neraxis said, glaring coldly at the standing alchemist. "Give me all your recipes, each and every single one. Research, data, I want everything."
"But—" Before the alchemist could speak out, a sword was embedded into his brewing friend’s neck, effectively killing him.
"I don’t want to hear your excuses," Neraxis stated and went over to one of the massive books on the table.
He flipped it open, only to find that the middle pages were blank. Therefore, he turned to the very start.
Yet after just seven pages, all the written content was gone, and most of it was doodling of some cucumbers with wings.
"Sixteen years, and you’ve written seven pages. You are a disgrace," Neraxis said, making the alchemist flinch.
[What about that book there?] Evangeline pointed the sword toward the bookshelf, where a single book stood.
He approached, but it was definitely not what he expected.
Instead of research, it was the book Celina had been talking about.
The Cursed Descendants, it’s called, he thought, and flipped to the first page.
To his surprise, the very first thing it detailed was some kind of puzzle.
A whole page, dedicated to words that had to be unscrambled in order to form the correct sentences.
It didn’t take long for Neraxis to solve a couple of sentences, and when he did, a recipe appeared.
Curse Soothing potion... These fuckers didn’t do anything at all, Neraxis glanced back at the alchemist with anger in his eyes. "It seems I was mistaken—you did absolutely nothing in those Sixteen years."
"I can explain, sir..." the alchemist stammered, and Neraxis decided to hear him out since these few seconds would be his last.
"Our only job was to cure her, but some time down the line... We received orders from above to halt all progress because the girl’s father’s donations were sustaining some kind of side project."
Neraxis raised his brow. "Did you happen to catch the name of that project? Or the person who gave you those orders?"
The alchemist shook his head. "No... The higher-ups communicate in a different frequency with some kind of skill. The only thing I know is the person’s codename: Null."
"Null?" Neraxis said aloud. "Never heard of them."
The one who got the other hero was codename Specter, not Null—this is a new one, he noted, raising his sword.
"Thank you for your service." Neraxis brought the sword down, severing the alchemist’s head.
But now that they were both dead, he had to do some clean up.
Thankfully, this room had an incinerator, where Neraxis threw their bodies.
Finally, he could do something to help Aurelia, even if only a little.
The Curse Soothing Potion seemed simple, and from what he could gather, the ingredients weren’t too difficult to acquire. Continue your journey at novelbuddy
Thankfully, the alchemists already had heaps of them, and that’s why Neraxis turned on the alchemical furnace and began brewing.
He threw in a couple of black peas that seemed to be magically enhanced before stirring the flask slightly.
According to the book, the next ingredient was salt derived specifically from an ocean-type rift, which he added immediately.
As he did, the potion’s color changed, turning a murky black.
However, there was one final ingredient remaining: the powder from a Silkroot flower.
It had long silver leaves that were almost see-through; the same went for the stem as well.
There were only twenty such flowers, so Neraxis made sure to make them count.
He crushed the Silkroot powder inside a mortar and pestle—a simple tool in which he only had to place the flower inside and tap it a couple dozen times to turn it into powder.
Neraxis controlled the fire to make sure the rest of the materials didn’t mix yet and form a potion, until finally, he was done with the powder.
Immediately pouring it inside the flask, he began mixing it, its colors vividly changing into a completely silver potion, which, after a little bit of temperature management, turned translucent.
Perfect, he heaved a relieved sigh and poured the flask’s contents into ten vials, finally finishing the Curse Soothing potion.
Can you store the potions, the book, and the materials too? Neraxis asked.
[Of course, yeah. Give me just a moment, I need to finish something up on my side.] She said, making his brow rise.
Your side? You mean that place you took me to before?
[Yup, I clean it every day so it doesn’t get dusty, I’m almost done now...] She trailed off with a hum before announcing. [Done!]
As soon as she did that, she appeared in her sword form, flying around the room and making each item disappear into storage, all with the exception of a single vial, which he put inside his dimensional storage ring.
There were still a bunch of alchemy-related stuff inside, like vials and flasks that he had yet to sort out.
But now that he was finally finished with what he wanted to do, he walked back to Aurelia’s room and opened the door.
However, before he could fully open it, Celina closed the door on him.
"She’s changing. Give us a moment..." she announced, peeking through a gap in the door. "You have blood on your face."
"Oh, I’ll—" As he was about to wipe it off, Celina stretched her hand out, wiping it away with a handkerchief she seemingly pulled out of nowhere.
"Don’t get your face dirty," she said mysteriously, and closed the door, leaving him puzzled.
[I think she meant to call your face a work of art. If I had to guess, of course,] Evangeline said with a giggle.
Haha... That does sound like her, he chuckled in response and paced around near the entrance until, finally, the door swung open, revealing Aurelia, who now wore a black dress identical to Celina’s.
"It suits you," Neraxis commented, and her face immediately turned red.
But since he wasn’t in the teasing mood, he simply handed the Curse Soothing potion over to her.
"This is?" Aurelia stared at the potion, her eyes widening. "Why is it see-through? The ones I get are always the same black color...?"
"This one is higher quality," Neraxis assured. "Please drink it."

"Okay," she replied with a hesitant nod before removing the cork and downing the entire potion.
As she did, her body began glowing for a moment, blinding both Celina and Neraxis.
But he quickly composed himself as the golden glow disappeared, revealing a slightly different Aurelia than the one he had seen just a few seconds ago.
Her blue hair had grown longer, and the same applied to her skin, which had grown much clearer. She looked like some sort of perfect model, rivaling even Celina.
"Uhh... I feel a bit strange," she commented, touching her own body all over.
"Do that at home," Celina scoffed and ruffled Aurelia’s hair, copying Neraxis.
Seeing that, he put on a warm smile. "Let’s take you back home, shall we?"
