[Evangeline, Progenitor of the Vampires, has modified your body!]

[Skill: Vampiric Dominion {A} -> Vampiric Dominion {SS}]

[Skill effect: Partial Vampirism (Special Passive) modified -> Complete Vampirism (Special Passive) {Temporary}]

A single upgrade was able to take the skill up to SS rank? Evangeline? Are you holding out on me? Neraxis asked, his emotions for some reason a tad bit unstable.

He felt bliss, as though he could do anything he wanted, kill anyone he wanted.

It was an addictive feeling, but Evangeline’s stern voice snapped him out of it.

[Don’t get any funny ideas here. The only reason I held out was simply because Complete Vampirism would greatly enhance your desires. I don’t want you walking around and having sex with every girl you see before we do it first.]

You have a point, I see... Neraxis replied, scratching his head.

But soon, he noticed something was wrong.

His heartbeat was non-existent. Similarly to other organs, it felt like they were simply not there.

Even more so, his affinity’s perk, {Unyielding Vitality}, was boosted up to the max.

It was the weakest of his skills, as it required a lot more mana to be fully effective, but now, his mana was practically flowing out of his body—the healing factor increased by almost a hundredfold.

Is this really how strong vampires are? he wondered, before turning his gaze toward the Tarantula. If that’s the case... Can’t I just—

[No, you can’t.] Evangeline interjected. [What you’re feeling right now is just an illusion of strength. You only grew a tad bit stronger, perhaps by a single rank or so. But that’s definitely not enough for you to deal with that strengthened tarantula.]

Neraxis nodded reluctantly and decided to wait it out.

[8:42]

[8:41]

But he was growing impatient not even two minutes in.

The breathing problem was fixed because his organs no longer needed to function, thanks to the Complete Vampirism.

Nonetheless, he wanted to try something out. Glancing at the tarantula, who was still actively shooting incredibly fast webs, Neraxis used a skill: {Stellar Dominion: Cosmic Cascade}.

Immediately, a red sheen, followed by a bluish-purple aurora, emerged.

It was much larger than before, and it soon impacted the tarantula, squashing it to the ground.

Sadly, it did not die from that attack, but that single hit alone was enough to cause visible damage.

The tarantula was supposed to be a B- rank at most, but now, it was more likely to be nearing A- rank.

Which is fucked. I can’t really kill it, even if I tried... Unless I could spam Cosmic Cascade ten more times. he pondered with a chuckle.

But as he was doing so, suddenly, the tarantula moved and began getting closer to him, before entering into the Wind element area, startling him.

Uh...? Neraxis prepared himself, readying his sword in hand.

Not even a moment later, the tarantula swung its massive claws down on him, to which he merely redirected them back onto the ground.

However, there was one interesting part about this fight so far, and that was—the tarantula couldn’t breathe and was visibly struggling.

His suspicions were further confirmed as, after a few clashes, it went back to the very middle of the floor, recouping its breath.

"Haha..." Neraxis let out a quiet laugh. So that’s how I beat it, huh? Seems simple enough.

A taunting grin appeared on his face as he approached the edge of the Wind element zone.

"Spider, why don’t you come closer? I want to show you something interesting," Neraxis started spouting bullshit, trying to make it angry. "Or wait... You can’t breathe? Is that the issue?"

"Screee!" The tarantula screeched at him, sending a claw his way.

However, instead of dodging, Neraxis let it impale him, a wide smile spreading across his face. "Oh no! I got hit..."

Even he didn’t believe the bullshit, but he quickly cut off the claw and walked a bit deeper into the Wind element territory.

Despite his taunts seeming unrealistic, they actually worked, as the tarantula began approaching him.

What an idiot. Neraxis chuckled, rubbing the hole in his stomach, which healed in nearly an instant.

[I don’t like what you’re doing here.] Evangeline complained. [While you are stronger and there are certain benefits, you do know that after this is all over, the recoil will be that much larger?]

If I can kill the tarantula, then who cares? I’ll unlock your seal. Neraxis shrugged, putting the sword on his shoulder and entering an aggressive stance.

The moment the tarantula got within a couple of meters of Neraxis, he immediately used {Eve of Ruin: Mark of Destruction}, followed by {Simple Stab}.

A single stack was formed, but he wasn’t finished, as before it could react, he used {Simple Horizontal Slash}.

In an instant, two stacks were added, and in just a single minute, he would be able to use {Stellar Dominion: Cosmic Cascade}.

However, his confidence was a bit over the top, as despite the close dodges, the fight felt even more exhilarating.

He had a similar feeling during the first floor’s trial, but now, it was simply heightened to the maximum.

Neraxis dashed in, slashing off the tarantula’s leg clean off, yet at the same time, losing his arm in the process.

But a smile was still plastered on his face as he caught the arm in mid-air and put it closer to the stump, immediately reattaching it.

Soon enough, he reached max stacks and now merely held it up before finally casting {Stellar Dominion: Cosmic Cascade}.

The skill fell upon the monster swiftly and brought it down, practically knocking the wind out of it.

However, at the same time, it suddenly began retreating to the middle.

That was when he finally detonated the mark, making the tarantula freeze in place.

Neraxis walked up to it with a sadistic smile, then placed his hands on each of its legs, deteriorating them in an instant.

Its body began expanding, with blood trailing down from its many wounds, which he could not care less about.

As after just a few moments, the tarantula had no more legs and was now looking at him with fright.

"Well, little spider. I suppose things did not go your way this time?" Neraxis spoke with a slightly distorted voice, his lungs contracting with each word.

"But this is perfect." He turned to the side, glancing at the countdown.

"We have twenty seconds to spare, and during that time, I can thoroughly dismember yo—"

Neraxis’s words were interrupted when, all of a sudden, his sword flew out of his hands and embedded itself through the tarantula’s eye.

[Y/Y]

Before he could press anything, an angry voice rang out.

[You’re a terrible vampire. I can’t even imagine leaving you alone for more than a minute.] Evangeline said with an exhausted sigh.

My bad, I got a bit carried away. He chuckled, attempting to dodge the subject.

[Well, you’ll have to bear with your decisions for the next couple of hours...] Evangeline trailed off, and as she did, he suddenly felt his heartbeat again.

However, with that came a wave of nausea, followed by him falling to the ground, vomiting out blood.

But finally, the floor completion messages arrived.

[Do you wish to enter?]

[Yes/No]

He held off pressing the "Yes" button for now, merely lying beside the massive tarantula’s corpse.

Instead, he reached for the other button—the one that would take him to where Evangeline was.

But to his surprise, the button moved away, followed by Evangeline’s teasing voice.

[Sorry, but I have to blue-ball you until you fix yourself up. If you come to me like that, our time will be more limited than it already is.]

Kuhh... Alright. Neraxis dragged his battered body to the very center of the trial before plopping down and closing his eyes.

He had to get some rest as after all...

In just a few hours, they would be doing something very fun together.
