Neraxis and Elena slowly headed back to the initial meetup spot, and the moment they arrived, they realized how empty it was.

But that was not all, since, as Neraxis inspected the area, he realized some kind of fight had happened.

Claw marks, blood, and even sword gashes were scattered around the trees and the soil. There were even areas where the blades of grass were cut at a perfect angle, almost as if done by a sword.

"Hmm..."

"A fight definitely broke out here," Elena remarked as she leaned down and inspected the ground.

No shit.

After a few moments, she had come to some sort of conclusion. "Wolf king maybe? I'm not certain, but it's either that or some sort of wolf pack. Either way, your friends? They're probably dead."

"Yeah, I doubt that," Neraxis replied with a chuckle. "The world would need to be crashing down for them to die. Even if they're weak now, they weren't that weak to begin with."

"Even if you say that, unless they can pull a miracle out of their as—behind... then they're dead," Elena said with a shrug. "But I could help you find them if that's enough to gain some closure."

"Closure? Sure, why not." Neraxis nodded knowingly, and with that, Elena simply extended her mana like earlier, encompassing the forest.

Soon, she turned her gaze to the right, and before Neraxis could ask the condition of Amara and Eris, Elena suddenly vanished.

In the meantime, Neraxis tried his best to keep up, since the only hint he had of the direction was the fact that she had looked to the right.

He wasn't sure if he was even going the right way. However, after a few minutes of non-stop running, he turned his head, avoiding a dagger that had flown past his head and embedded itself into a nearby tree.

Noticing this, Neraxis realized he was on the right track, so he picked up the pace further, until he eventually arrived. fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm

Amara and Eris were dodging arcs of lightning with great difficulty, and then there was Elena, who was shooting fireballs at the one responsible.

And of course, the one responsible was none other than the wolf she had been talking about.

It had clear white fur, striking blue eyes, and even a unicorn horn at the very top of its head.

However, it was almost like she glossed over the wolf's size, since, for a fact, it wasn't regular wolf-sized.

In fact, it was the size of an entire building, and with each step it took, the ground caved in.

Fucking hell... Neraxis trailed off as he proceeded to inspect the wolf.

—Tempest Wolf (Level 49) [Boss]

She mentioned it was around level 40, and while she wasn't exactly wrong, a difference of 9 levels this early on was massive.

Elena kept hurling fireballs at it, despite her shots missing completely. However, even after a dozen shots and her mana being exhausted, she hadn't even managed to land a single hit.

And the conclusion he came to?

She's either an idiot, or it's her first time in battle. But she was pretty damn efficient with the zombie earlier... her accuracy is insane, Neraxis thought as the wolf finally locked onto him.

And the moment it did, he didn't hesitate to step to the side, narrowly avoiding an incoming bolt of lightning.

Before it shot it, Neraxis had noticed its horn lighting up, so at least there was an indicator.

If there hadn't been, he would've died then and there.

Nonetheless, he slowly made his way over to Amara and Eris before stopping right behind them.

"Yo, everything alright?"

"What do you think?" Amara scoffed, dodging another bolt of lightning with a backflip and landing right beside Neraxis.

"This thing has been on us since you left! We couldn't even level up!" Eris complained, frantically shooting it with her makeshift wooden bow. "I can't kill it!"

"I noticed." Neraxis nodded. "What are your levels?"

"One!" they both replied in unison with frustrated looks, causing him to let out a chuckle.

"Pfftt..." Neraxis trailed off, holding back a laugh as he glanced at Elena.

She was not holding up well, and the wolf seemed nowhere near tired.

Normally, Neraxis would've helped, but he realized that the higher the level of the monster, the harder it was to kill.

After all, killing that level 1 zombie was like cutting through butter, but cutting those level 12 ghouls made him exert himself more than he should have.

Especially with the normal cuts, as he had to use his full strength.

But I guess that stats are what matters here. That thing probably has stats in the hundreds, whereas I don't have stats anywhere near that, Neraxis thought and decided to do the only logical thing.

"The agro is on her for the time being, run away," Neraxis stated.

Amara showed a hint of surprise, but it was soon replaced with resolution as she simply ran away with Eris right beside her.

She knew better than anyone that the situation was dire. so any hesitation would only lead to her and Eris's deaths.

Nonetheless, Neraxis heaved a sigh as he glanced back toward Elena.

The moment he did, he realized she was about to be crushed by the wolf's paw.

Therefore, without even wasting a single moment, he summoned his spear and threw it directly at the wolf's eye.

Surprisingly, it hit and even managed to pierce the eye, causing the wolf to recoil as it began screaming in agony.

—AWOOOOOOOO!

Neraxis only paid a moment's attention to it as he simply ran up to Elena, then picked her up and slung her over his shoulder.

And with that, he dashed away, toward where Amara and Eris had run off to.

Despite them only being level 1, he assumed their starting stats were a little higher.

Why?

Well, he assumed at least one of their skills transferred unlike his own.

Arksteel isn't even a skill, so this system is just being stingy.

Nonetheless, after a few minutes of running, followed by a distant howling sound, he finally halted, nearly falling off the edge of a cliff.

Yet as he looked at the sight ahead, his eyes widened.

What the...
