The Strongest Beast Tamer With the Strongest System-Chapter 54: Office
Leonardo saw the shock clearly written on the man’s face, as if he couldn’t understand what this situation meant.
Even if this were a scenario where Leonardo had surrendered and chosen to submit to Margaret, it would still be impossible for them to sit together and drink coffee like this. That simply wasn’t something a subordinate and a superior would do.
Margaret also noticed Thomas, but she remained completely indifferent.
After a moment, Thomas eventually chose to leave.
There was no way he could come over and ask directly.
Nor could he scold Leonardo for offending Margaret when Leonardo was now sitting together with the woman herself.
But not long after he left, another man arrived and approached their table.
Levi Harvey.
He looked at Margaret and Leonardo with an uncertain expression, though it was clear that wasn’t the real reason he had come.
"Sis," he said to Margaret.
"What is it?" Margaret replied, sounding almost too lazy to speak.
"Do you know anyone who has the ability to take things without being detected at all?" Levi asked.
"Oh?" Margaret immediately straightened her back and raised an eyebrow.
Meanwhile, Leonardo remained completely relaxed. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
"What happened?" Margaret asked.
"Yesterday he and I, along with a few others, opened a gate guarded by an S-Class Monster on Floor 2," Levi explained while glancing at Leonardo.
"And then?" Margaret became more curious.
She clearly hadn’t expected Leonardo to team up with Levi to open a gate.
"When we entered, the gate was empty. None of the items were there. Isn’t it impossible for a gate guarded by an S-Class Monster to be empty? I’ve never heard of any gate that had no rewards."
"That’s never happened before. There must be a thief," Margaret said while nodding.
"Do you know anyone who has that ability?"
"Yes, I do," Margaret replied. "But it’s hard to prove, so there’s no point continuing to look for them."
"I’ll just capture that person and force them to return my items," Levi answered.
"That method won’t work. You won’t be able to catch that person. Just go and forget about the items," Margaret said, waving her hand dismissively.
Levi stared at her in shock.
"Sis, that was a gate guarded by an S-Class Monster. How could I just give up?"
Even from his perspective, the value of those items was far too high to simply abandon.
Margaret should have helped him retrieve them, yet now she was telling him to give up.
"Sis, what’s wrong with you? Are you sick or something?" he asked.
"Do I look sick? Do you want me to beat you up? You’re disturbing my business."
Levi: "..."
After the young man left, Margaret stared at Leonardo without blinking.
"You’re not accusing me, are you? None of us were the culprit. We even checked each other’s rings," Leonardo said.
"Hmph." Margaret snorted coldly.
Leonardo immediately ignored her.
After that, he stopped reading and began playing a game on the computer instead.
When she kept being ignored, Margaret eventually started playing on her computer too.
From the faint sounds that could be heard, she seemed to be playing online poker.
Naturally, skipping classes wasn’t a problem for them.
Classes were only for ordinary people so they could work after graduation.
"It’s time," Margaret said around 9 a.m.
"Alright." Leonardo stood up. He had already decided to meet the man.
Refusing might not be a good idea, so for now he chose to go with the flow.
He followed Margaret out.
The place was quieter now since classes had begun, and most Awakener students who didn’t attend lessons had already gone to the Monster World.
"You drive," Leonardo said when they arrived at his car.
He tossed the keys to Margaret and got in first, immediately lighting a cigarette.
Margaret had no position to refuse and was forced to be the driver. Besides, only she knew the location of the meeting.
Since Leonardo only stared at his phone and smoked, Margaret found it difficult to start a conversation.
She probably had never imagined that a man could act so indifferent while having the chance to be alone with her.
Their destination turned out to be an area containing ten identical skyscrapers, tall and magnificent, with a smaller building shaped like a tulip flower in the center.
It could practically be called a complex.
Not just anyone could enter—only employees or invited guests.
Leonardo’s car was immediately stopped by several security guards, but they allowed it through as soon as they saw that Margaret was the driver.
Leonardo had only seen this place on TV before, and he couldn’t help feeling impressed by its grandeur.
There were many gardens and cafés built specifically for the workers. There was even a sports area.
With a headquarters this massive, the wealth of the Harvey Family was truly unimaginable. Who knew how many people worked for them worldwide.
Margaret drove toward the tulip-shaped building and stopped right in front of the entrance.
Unlike the other buildings, this one was quiet—but among the few people entering were city and state officials.
"Let’s go," Margaret said with a faint smile as she stepped out of the car.
Leonardo took one last drag of his cigarette before getting out.
He instinctively straightened his school uniform when he noticed many people looking at him.
Pretending to be indifferent wasn’t completely easy when you were attracting the attention of adults from a much higher social class.
Just as they passed through the entrance and arrived in the lobby—covered entirely in red carpet—a beautiful black-haired woman in her early thirties approached them with a polite smile.
"Miss," she greeted Margaret respectfully.
"Where’s my father?" Margaret asked coldly, clearly showing she didn’t like the woman.
"He went to the office next door. Please go to his office and wait," the woman replied.
After that, Margaret headed toward the elevator and gestured for Leonardo to follow.
"She must be your father’s mistress," Leonardo said inside the elevator, easily understanding Margaret’s displeasure.
No matter her personality, it would be impossible for her not to feel uncomfortable about her father having an affair.
If that woman became pregnant, then her inheritance would be split in two.
