The Strongest Dandy in the City-Chapter 470 Difficult Half Hour
Chapter 470: Chapter 470 Difficult Half Hour
The night was ink-dark.
A round, bright moon hung high in the sky, its clean light offering a touch of brightness to the pitch-black night.
In a quiet place on the outskirts of Tianhai, overgrown with weeds and usually deserted, especially late at night, even a gust of wind could make one’s spine feel chillingly cold.
In this overgrown area once stood a chemical factory. After an improper operation by a worker one year, the factory exploded disastrously, resulting in countless deaths and injuries. Eventually, the chemical factory closed down.
Following that explosion, the original factory had become decrepit. Several buildings had already collapsed, and it was here that Hei Xin had arranged to meet Ye Chenfeng.
Ye Chenfeng stepped into the bounds of the former chemical factory, where only a huge iron sheet workshop now remained undamaged. Hei Xin, wearing a gray mask, emerged from one side of the workshop. He pulled a golden pocket watch from his pocket, checked the time, and said, "I didn’t expect you to be on time. Now, let me explain the rules of today’s game!"
Hei Xin pointed to the iron sheet workshop and said, "See this workshop? Inside, I’ve divided it into four large rooms. The two people you’re looking for are in the last room. However, to see them, you must get through the first three rooms, which are full of dangers you can’t imagine. Even I am not confident I could get through these rooms."
"Since we’re playing a game today, there naturally have to be some rules. There’s only one rule: get through the first three rooms within half an hour. If you do so, you win the game tonight and I won’t threaten the people close to you again. If you lose, then you must work for the Devouring Empire wholeheartedly from now on."
"You still have the chance to back out now. Once the game starts, although I don’t want you to die and will do everything in my power to avoid that, the lethality of this game isn’t something I can control. Have you really thought this through?"
Ye Chenfeng looked at the thick iron door that sealed the workshop, faintly hearing a whimpering sound from inside. He didn’t know what kind of trickery Hei Xin was up to, but with Tang Xin and Fang Nanxiang in his hands, he had no choice but to believe what Hei Xin said. Even if the workshop held nine levels of hell, he had to brave it.
"Why bother with so much talk? The game can start now," Ye Chenfeng said to Hei Xin.
Hei Xin walked to the thick iron door of the workshop, where a heavy chain was fastened. Unlocking the chain’s lock, he said, "Since you’re determined to play this game, you can enter now. As soon as you step inside, I’ll start timing."
Ye Chenfeng strode to the iron door and pushed it open forcefully, without the slightest hesitation, he entered. The workshop was pitch-black, making it impossible to see one’s hand in front of one’s face, while numerous eerie green glows appeared especially sinister in the darkness.
The moment Ye Chenfeng stepped into the workshop, the thick door closed behind him and the lights on the ceiling came on simultaneously, revealing the scene in front of him.
Not far in front of Ye Chenfeng, there were at least fifty hungry wolves. These wolves were much larger than ordinary ones, likely mutated.
Behind this pack of wolves, there was a closed door, presumably the entrance to the next room. So, to reach the next room, one had to deal with these fifty or so hungry wolves.
A pair of green eyes fixated on Ye Chenfeng, with the fifty wolves’ mouths slightly open, displaying their incredibly sharp teeth. Thick saliva dripped continuously from their mouths onto the ground, as they seemingly regarded Ye Chenfeng as a delicious meal.
Not far from the exterior of a steel-sheet factory, a Mercedes-Benz business van was parked. Hei Xin and his capable assistant Hei Xiong sat in the van in front of which was a small screen displaying the inside of the steel-sheet factory.
Watching the screen with rows of hungry and ferocious wolves, Hei Xin asked, "Hei Xiong, do you think Ye Chenfeng can make it through these three rooms?"
Hei Xiong shook his head and replied, "Boss, even you probably only have a one percent chance of getting through these three rooms, right? The difficulty of the rooms increases the deeper you go. This batch of mutated wolves is the easiest to deal with tonight. However, even the first room poses a problem for Ye Chenfeng to pass through safely."
"I just want to see where Ye Chenfeng’s limits are. If he faces a life-threatening situation, the two of us must immediately take action, no matter if we can save him in the end." In Hei Xin’s opinion, Ye Chenfeng was sure to lose tonight’s game. He played this game with Ye Chenfeng for two reasons: one was to let Ye Chenfeng join the Devouring Empire; the second was to understand Ye Chenfeng’s true strength.
...
Inside the steel-sheet factory, Ye Chenfeng, facing about fifty starving wolves, boosted his Level Nine Soul Force to its utmost limit. It seemed the wolves had a keen sense of danger, as they could feel a risky aura emanating from Ye Chenfeng. Thus, a standoff began between one man and the pack of about fifty wolves.
Ye Chenfeng didn’t have time to waist in this place, and as he was bound to confront this pack of wolves eventually, he took the first step forward. As he did so, the about fifty starving wolves also moved, charging at him all at once.
Ye Chenfeng released his Level Nine Soul Force, restraining the wolves’ attack, but still, one leading wolf was not held back by the Soul Force, and in the blink of an eye, it reached Ye Chenfeng baring its fangs, aiming viciously for his waist.
How could Ye Chenfeng let this beast succeed? Fortunately, the rest of the pack was restrained by Ye Chenfeng’s Soul Force. Otherwise, facing attacks from all directions, he might have indeed found himself capsizing in a gutter.
Swinging his right fist heavily, he smashed it into the wolf’s head. This punch of Ye Chenfeng was infused with the might of Level Nine Soul Force, and with a "Bang!", the wolf’s head turned into a mist of blood, wafting through the air before its headless body collapsed heavily onto the ground.
The other wolves, constrained by the Soul Force and witnessing their companion’s death before their eyes, let out eerie howls and strained with all their might to break the force binding their bodies.
Ye Chenfeng estimated that his Soul Force could only restrain this pack of wolves for about five minutes, so he had to make haste to defeat them one after the other. He withdrew his Soul Force from one of the wolves, and as the restraining force disappeared, the wolf lunged fiercely at Ye Chenfeng with bared teeth and claws, looking terrifying.
However, the fate of this wolf was to be brutally head-smashed by Ye Chenfeng’s fist. As Ye Chenfeng sped up, the heads of mutated wolves turned into mists of blood one by one, so much so that in the end, Ye Chenfeng was dealing with two or three wolves at a time. In just three or four minutes, the pack of about fifty wolves all became headless corpses.
Ye Chenfeng’s body was covered in wolf blood, and the consumption of his Soul Force was severe. His breath became slightly more rapid -- and this was just the first room! If things continued this way, his chances of making it through the remaining two rooms were very low. Nevertheless, Ye Chenfeng gritted his teeth and resolved to power through.
The half-hour of the game was exceedingly difficult for Ye Chenfeng.
In the Mercedes-Benz business van, both Hei Xin and Hei Xiong were filled with disbelief in their eyes; they hadn’t expected Ye Chenfeng to handle the about fifty mutated wolves so effortlessly. Even for Hei Xin to take action, he wasn’t confident he could deal with about fifty mutated wolves in such a short time; in fact, he was sure he couldn’t do it.
Hei Xiong had initially thought that even passing the first room safely was a problem for Ye Chenfeng, but the result surprised him greatly. The usually stoic Hei Xiong took a long breath and said, "Boss, Ye Chenfeng’s abilities and skills are too extraordinary. I’m starting to believe that he might actually make it through the remaining two rooms." (To be continued.
