Abnormal experience: In recent weeks, the face of a child with bruises all over his face flashed on the screen of my phone every time I looked at it. I could feel someone walking up and down the living room while I slept at night. Besides, I felt that someone was staring at me at the end of the corridor when I open the door. Moreover, I woke up with my computer switched on when I had turned it off the night before.
Kimura Kazuki read the SOS post uploaded by a woman named Kotone Mikami seriously. After scanning through it quickly, he picked up his phone and directly dialed the phone number that she had provided.
The main reason why he required those who intended to ask for help to upload such a tedious SOS post was so that the online trolls or keyboard warriors would retreat upon realizing the difficulties of starting an SOS post. This would then prevent these silly folks from harassing him with fake posts. On the other hand, for those who had asked for help, he would not read through his or her data earnestly but would call the person directly for information.
It would be more convincing if the one in need were to narrate their problems in person.
Du... Du... Du...
Someone picked up the phone.
Kimura Kazuki's heart was filled with joy and relief. It seemed like the person had not been murdered.
According to her descriptions of the strange events she faced, she was likely to have met a demon, probably a torturous one. "Hey... who's calling?" Kotone Mikami spoke timidly.
"Hello Miss Mikami, have you just uploaded a post asking for help on the spirit-resting website? I am the webmaster of the website."
"Ah..." Kotone Mikami sounded embarrassed. "You guys truly contacted me... I'm sorry. I just want to know whether this inane website is true or fake. I'm so sorry to trouble you!"
Kimura Kazuki's eyebrows furrowed, "Does that mean your post is a scam?"
"Yes." She felt sorry, "I saw the post on the Final Forum and wanted to examine whether it is a scam... I did not expect you to call me right after I posted it. You are too efficient."
Kimura Kazuki was speechless. He did not expect that he would encounter such a thoughtless person as his first client. "Please stop playing these stupid games next time," said Kimura Kazuki bluntly after he knew the true condition. She was just wasting his time.
Kimura Kazuki hung up and went back to his translation job. His expectation for the spirit-resting website declined again because of this.
At eight o'clock the next morning, he was getting ready to attend school to watch the Women's Team tournament with his Kendo teammates.
He heard a knock on the door before he went out.
He opened the door out of curiosity and saw two police officers standing outside.
At this moment, a police officer on the left with the surname of Iida spoke with a stern face, "Hello, are you Kimura Kazuki?"
In fact, Iida actually knew Kimura Kazuki due to his present online popularity.
"Yes, I am. How can I help you?" Kimura Kazuki's brows furrowed. The fact that the police showed up at his doorstep was not a good sign.
The police officer named Matsushita, who stood beside spoke with a soft smile, "Kimura-san, we are here for a general case analysis. Will you please let us in?"
Was this the good cop-bad cop scenario?
Kimura Kazuki nodded and agreed to let them in after observing them for a moment.
Five seconds later, after Iida and Matsushita observed the cramped room, they found that there was nothing that could be searched and investigated. Both of them remained helpless about the situation...
At last, Matsushita said, "Well... Kimura-san, you called a woman last night, right?"
Kotone Mikami?
With the appearance of the police officers early in the morning, Kimura Kazuki recalled something instantly. His expression turned somber, "Did something happened to Kotone Mikami?"
The police officer named Iida did not answer his question. He looked warily at Kimura Kazuki and said, "Kimura-san, you do not seem surprised about the tragedy that had happened to Kotone Mikami."
"Naturally," Kimura Kazuki did not keep the matters which happened yesterday as a secret; instead, he told them everything about it. The spirit-resting website and the things that happened yesterday were nothing to hide; in fact, there was nothing to hide.
However, he realized that the spirit-resting website had disappeared when he switched on his computer when he intended to show the SOS post to the police officers... It showed that there was no URL for this website.
Kimura Kazuki frowned after seeing the disappeared website.
Both of the police officers backed off slightly after seeing the scene. Matsushita stayed vigilant even though he was smiling. He looked at the Sun and Moon Sword on the table and asked with a smile, "Kimura-san, where were you last night? What have you done? Can you tell us?" He made a gesture to Iida as he was asking the questions.
Kimura Kazuki's thoughts were disrupted by the sound. He glanced at both of them; everything was written on their gestures.
Nevertheless, it was true that he was home last night, and no one could prove his alibi. Based on the cautious reaction of both of the police officers, he was sure that the girl named Kotone Mikami had been murdered. He was no other than a murderer in their eyes. Upon such thoughts, he picked up his phone and dialed a number. He switched on the speaker while calling to calm down both the police officers.
"Kimura-san, why are you so free to call me?"
Rei Takamori's hearty laughter was heard right after he picked up the phone. Even though they did not have much contact after the visit to Akichi High School, Rei Takamori had long regarded Kimura Kazuki as a friend, especially after the happening of those matters. Their distant age did not stop them from becoming friends. "Chief Inspector Takamori, something is up." Kimura Kazuki took a glance at the police officers and said softly, "I was wrongfully involved in a supernatural murder case. I want to look into the matter, and I need your help."
"Where are you?" Rei Takamori was shocked after hearing the word supernatural.
"I'm at home," Kimura Kazuki told Rei Takamori his address and hung up the phone. He then looked at the police officers and said," Please wait for a few minutes."
Both the police officers were looking at him anxiously and cautiously at the moment. Both of them acquiesced to what Kimura Kazuki had told Rei Takamori and kept silent while waiting. In fact, they were a little nervous as they were not police officers of Jinwen District but Shirada District instead. Out of urgency, they did not report their arrival to the person in charge of the Jinwen District.
The person that Kimura Kazaki just called was a Chief Inspector whose position was much higher than the both of them. Even if he had no power to administer the police officers of Shirada District, he could still easily trouble them if he intended to do so.
However, they were confident that Kimura Kazaki must have a great deal to do with the death of Kotone Mikami. Hence, they remained calm, even though they were anxious. They did not believe in any supernatural things.
Rei Takamori came over by driving a police car and reached in less than 10 minutes. He brought along two people with him and went upstairs. He frowned after seeing Iida and Matsushita, "You two, show me your police identity card."
Rei Takomori humphed after seeing their identity cards, "Why would the officers of Shirada District come over here arbitrarily to investigate the case without first contacting the police department of Jinwen District?"
The stern expression on Iida's face disappeared at the moment. He looked anxious as he stood before Chief Inspector Takamori, "We came here quickly as this was an urgent matter."
Rei Takamori groaned. As he was about to speak, he heard Kimura Kazuki, who just came out from the room, "Chief Inspector Takamori, we better head to the crime scene first as this is an emergency."
Rei Takamori turned his head around and noticed Kimura Kazuki's solemn expression. He felt apprehensive recalling what Kimura Kazaki had told him on the phone and nodded deliberately.
