The System for Mentoring Villain Bosses-Chapter 33 – Mr. Officer (3)
Chapter 33 – Mr. Officer (3)
Right then, another round of commotion got their attention. Amidst the cheers of the bystanders, one could hear the unreconciled shouting of the man, “You can’t arrest me! You don’t have a case! Your Captain Gou and I are rah rah rah.....”
The officer holding him pushed his head down and coldly said, “You! Be quiet!”
Then, he shoved the man into the back of the police car.
The rest of the officers went to gather evidence, especially He Qingwan’s drawer full of counterfeit money. The officers took every single one of them, possibly the best of all evidence.
The officers were very efficient. Just like they came quickly, they also left quickly.
Now that the bad guy was caught, the bystanders started dispersing happily. The only ones left were Su Tian, He Qingwan, Xi Yun, and the high school girls that came with Su Tian.
Everybody was still excited at trapping the bad man. Everybody was in a heightened mood and felt that they were invincible.
He Qingwan offered them free desserts as a token of appreciation. They could have as many as they want with no charge. ƒ𝑟𝐞𝗲𝘄𝙚𝚋𝑛o𝙫𝒆𝒍.𝒄𝘰𝓂
Su Tian smiled and said, “Okay, go get your dessert. I will let your wallets off the hook this one time.”
The girls cheered and walked toward the display cases holding hands, while chattering about which ones they should pick.
The tiramisu looked delicious. What was this? Mango pancake? That looked good too. And then there was this one, coconut cubes, so white and so cute...
By now, everybody had forgotten that they have passed the school’s pre-set lunch hour. Oh puhleeze, they had been altruistic heroes today, and the school must understand that heroes need to eat too. They could be a little late, right?
The group of them brought with them all sorts of dessert, sat, and ate in front of the store, leaving crumbs all over the place.
Cheerful giggling from the girls could be heard up and down the entire street.
Contrasting the cheerful chattering on this side of the street, Lui’s Walnut Cookies, on the other side of the street, was grim.
Li Xiuyun was just a small-time greedy shop owner. She only has the guts to do the bad deeds, but not the guts to handle the consequences of those deeds. She was frantic after the event. Pacing around the shop and holding one hand in the other, she kept asking herself: What am I going to do now? What am I going to do now?
Zhang Ke’s face was dark. She was very irritated by Li Xiuyun’s mumbling. She finally said impatiently, “Are you done yet? Just shut up already!”
Li Xiuyun, “I am worried! What if brother-in-law rats us out? I am going to lose my shop. Or maybe....”
Her eyes darted around. Grabbing Zhang Ke’s hand, she said, “Maybe we will just run? Let me go pack a few items and get all our money. We can....”
Aggravated, Zhang Ke shoved her aside and stood up, “Stop it already! You are not helping. I am telling you, I know people at the station. Nothing will happen to your brother-in-law.”
As soon as she heard that Zhang Ke knew someone at the police station, Li Xiuyun felt much better. Cheerfully, she asked, “For real?”
Zhang Ke did not dignify that with a response, “You just keep your mouth shut. When the cops come, say you don’t know anything. That your brother-in-law came to visit, he saw a new dessert shop across the street and wanted to go try it out. Don’t say anything else. One slip and you will join him in jail, alright?”
Liu Xiuyun nodded.
She didn’t want to go to jail.
Zhang Ke turned and left. She needed to go find out what was going on at the police station.
