The Tales of Draconic Warlock-Chapter 298: To the Next (1)
We stayed in the Crystal City for a week in total.
There was a lot to enjoy here and that week was not enough but after staying for a week, we decided that we had seen enough.
We three didn’t come to the empire to settle in a city. We came to tour the empire and see what we usually can’t see in the kingdom. We can’t do that if we stay in the city for too long.
If we do that, we may have to stay a decade to see what the empire is all about. That long was never on the table, to begin with. Moreover, if I stay away that long, my mother might come looking for me herself.
Mother’s wrath is not something one would look forward to.
So, we took on a quest to work as guards for a merchant caravan.

After Celine was registered at the Alchemy Guild, she took a few quests and completed them without any hitch. They are after all Tier-1 potions. From what Angela told me, Celine should be a peak Tier-3 Alchemist. So, Tier-1 potions are easy for her.
It was like she had awakened the wrong profession during the awakening. Those are not my words but Angela’s.
It was not just her opinion it seems. It was the opinion of her entire family.
The Blazewood family was known for its fire and wood affinity professionals. Though the majority of the ones with fire affinity were fire mages, there were alchemists as well.
The top alchemist of the family was only a Tier-6 Alchemist.
Unlike combat professionals where one’s actual rank is used to refer them, creation professionals are not referred to like that.
They are referred based on the Tier of the products that they can make.
Celine is a Tier-6 professional according to her combat rank but when it comes to alchemy is only Tier-3, almost reaching Tier-4.
For a combat professional to reach such a rank, it would be considered once in a lifetime scenario. They were very rare.
Also, the talent that Celine showed was up to par with many of the old alchemists in the family. They believe that she would reach their rank in a century at most, maybe even less.
A tier-6 alchemist in a century is considered very good. For someone who has nothing to do with alchemy, reaching a stage similar to the alchemy professionals almost at the same time means she was born with the wrong profession.

Of course, she has something to do with alchemy after all. Her secondary profession was Alchemist, but that was the current situation.
When those elders made that comment, she was a Tier-2 alchemist and that was before she got the chance to select her secondary profession.
Like combat professionals, alchemists start at Tier-0 rank. Reaching Tier-2 without having to do with alchemy was something that no one can describe properly.
After graduating she joined as a professor at the academy, which took a lot of time, and the reason why she lagged for some time. Now, she was returning to alchemy and she would possibly surprise her family when we return.
I mean, there is no way that the knowledge that was available in the empire is inferior to that available in the kingdom. It should be much better than there and should help her enter a higher tier easily.
Of course, having only knowledge would mean nothing. She needs to practise to reach such a stage, a lot of practise and that means she needs a lot of alchemy resources, which are not easy to obtain except for in the guild.
So, she had to submit as many quests as she could to improve her rank and she did. She is now a Rank E member of the alchemy guild and has almost reached Rank D, which will soon happen.
Of course, to reach that rank, she consumed a lot of materials. Luckily she was already a Tier-3 alchemist which made it possible for her to create those potions without wasting any materials.
The materials, most we got from hunting outside the city.
We took quests from the adventurer guild and while completing them, we collected a lot of monster parts that she requires. Also, we found some herbs here and there but those didn’t account much as the number required was much higher.
This is why alchemists would have herb fields.
Instead of finding herbs in the wild, it’s a much more profitable and time-saving process. Of course, not all herbs can be grown easily. So, even though many common herbs and easy-to-grow herbs are maintained on the herb fields, certain herbs are still gained through posting quests in the guild.
We saved on what we could as money is not an easy thing to save for alchemists who are trying to improve their ranks.
If you have settled down and don’t care about improvements, then a lot of money can be saved. Even if the potions and pills that you are making are of low level, bit by bit your treasury would be filled and overflow one day.
Yeah, even though the lower-tier alchemy products are cheaper than the higher-tier ones, there is something called quantity.
A lot of awakeners would get stuck in lower ranks. Not many can reach higher ranks. So, even if you make a high-tier alchemy item, the number of people who can afford such things would be low.
So, most alchemists would only try to reach Tier-6, if they knew that their talent was very weak. Only the ones with good talent in alchemy would even think about reaching higher tiers as it would cost a lot of money and the market is very small.
So, the item that was made should be useful at the current time or else it can only be sent to the storage.
None who made it to the top are idiots. Everything they did was to gain. So, they wouldn’t try something stupid. So, most potions are what are usually sold easily, such as health potions, mana potions etc...
