As soon as the assassin said that, I felt things click in place and also realized why the assassin looked so familiar.

It was because he was a carbon copy of Emma with Ben’s eyes and hair. It was so obvious looking at the man now.

’Tsk, I really am bad at the whole finding people. I doubt I would be able to recognize this man a second time in the crowd. So for now, I should mark him so that I do not lose him.’

It was a miracle that I found my target as quickly as I did... well, for the most part.

"Hey, are your parents’ names Emma and Ben?"

I asked, and the assassin gave me a startled look as he picked his face up. His reaction told me all I needed to know even before he opened his mouth.

The assassin told me as he looked down.

’Tsk, does that mean Emma’s son is stuck in here as well? Can I not take him out?’

The assassin looked beyond shocked to see my system working here.

He asked, and I just shrugged at him.

"Well, I never ate or drank anything from in here. In my experience, it’s always better to carry your own supplies for situations like these. And don’t worry. I will find a way to free you and the others from this dungeon."

I promised the assassin, mainly because this was something I wanted to do for them. It was more than about Emma at the current time.

"You want... to help us out? But why? Can’t you tell that we are all lost causes. You should leave out now and save yourself. There is no need for you to concern yourself with people like us."

The assassin told me, and I shook my head.

"I am going to do what I want. Don’t worry, I will save you all. After all, I’m Ace and this is something I want to do."

I told the assassin, and he looked starstruck once he heard those words. His eyes widened as he looked at me up and down.

"Y-You are Ace-? How... no, more importantly, how are you alive? You were declared dead... not that it’s the important part. But still... even you cannot free us. No one can. This dungeon is too strong."

The assassin looked too shocked to say anything so I just shook my head to calm him down.

"Don’t worry about any of that. I am the one who needs to take care of it. If anything, you just need to keep me updated about what is going on around here."

I told the assassin, but he still looked worried.

But somehow, I did not feel the same fear as he did. The energy of the dungeon felt pleasant and gentle toward me, almost as if it was hesitant to interact with me or harm me.

"A-Alright, if that’s what you want. I will tell you all about this dungeon. Ah, I am Edward, by the way. Somehow, I managed to recall my name, so please use it."

The assassin, now Edward, told me and I took a seat in front of him.

"Y-You both are insane... ah... you have lost your mind. Talking to an assassin like this..."

My guide, who was still awake and saw this whole thing, spoke with fear in her eyes. I felt my eye twitch and I decided to knock her out and then use my skill to cause her to forget.

Edward waited for me to be finished with her before he turned to me and started speaking.

"As you saw, this dungeon is special and traps anyone who eats and drinks anything from here inside. As far as I know, the only way to get out of here is to climb the rankings and become the top person in this place for 10 days. That would give you a chance to make a wish. However..."

Edward trailed off before he spoke once more.

"Once the ranking refreshes and a new top person is selected, they are killed quickly so that another can take their place. It is a never-ending cycle."

The man told me and I could hear frustration in his voice.

Luckily for him, I was here to help him out. There was no longer a need for him or the others to be worried about what was going to happen.

"What should I do to help you out? Do you need my help?"

The man asked and I gave him a look.

Did I need help at this point? Likely not. But I did want everyone to be out of harm’s way.

"For now, just keep your head down and report to me anything weird that happens. Ah also, does this place have a high priest or priestess of any kind?"

I asked and Edward looked confused.

"Huh-! There is no religion in this place, so I am not sure if I can answer you properly. I don’t think I have ever heard about such a title before either."

The assassin told me and I nodded. Now, I needed Kuro’s intel next to make a plan.
