The Trending Topic Herself: The Villainess is the Superstar!-Chapter 120: Escaping Danger
Miles Wallace still hadn’t come to his senses from the crisis, he felt his arm being pulled, almost dragging him forward.
He belatedly realized that he was out of danger... out of danger...
Miles looked to the side and saw only the wildly flying black hair and Maya Monroe’s calm and exquisite eyebrows.
It was Maya who saved him.
Maya was frantically running forward. Noticing the look from Miles, she angrily exclaimed, "Why are you looking at me? Look at the road! Run faster!!"
As she spoke, Maya gave Miles a hard push to propel him forward.
Was the kid scared stiff? Who would zone out when escaping, if he didn’t react, the venomous snake would have swallowed him whole long ago.
The warmth on his arm disappeared, as if the dependence on safety behind him vanished with it.
Miles slightly lowered his eyes, glanced at Maya, and then suddenly ran forward fast.
He studied dance, and being in his youth, he could run very fast, like an agile and swift leopard.
Maya was slightly relieved in her heart.
Soon the snake awakened, swaying its body, wanting to attack again, leaving the staff in the rear in danger.
Maya hurriedly shouted, "Don’t run in a straight line! Run in circles! Run in circles!"
A snake’s lung capacity is small, and after crawling a certain distance, it becomes exhausted and its speed slows down.
Maya was the fastest among everyone. Despite her usual lazy demeanor, her reflexes were the strongest when facing a crisis.
The two accompanying bodyguards had only received emergency training, but Maya endured real danger beyond any training.
No one knew how long they ran, everyone was panting heavily, drenched in sweat, and eventually saw the figures of the director and others ahead, the rescue had finally arrived!
The "circle" designated by the program team contained snakes, but they were all carefully screened, about thumb-thick, without deadly venom, just intended to scare the guests for the effect of the show.
No one expected that a large, truly dangerous venomous snake would break through the safety net set by the program team and suddenly appear, an accident not encountered in many previous episodes. The group of five including Maya’s accompanying staff were mostly cameramen and lighting technicians, with only two bodyguards.
Thus, when caught in the situation, they were at an absolute disadvantage.
The director, looking tense, ordered and the medical team rushed over to treat the guests, and then a batch of bodyguards went in the direction they had fled to locate the snake and eliminate the potential danger.
Knowing that the rescue had arrived, everyone collapsed on the ground in disarray, having spent all their energy in the escape, they were utterly exhausted, able only to gasp for air. Equipment like cameras had long disappeared during the hurried escape, for nothing was more important than life.
Maya was no better off than the others, having expended enormous physical strength while running, her face was pale, and her lips lost their color. Her reflexes were still there, but with a body untrained by the original owner, the inadequacies became more conspicuous.
The original owner’s physique was poor, and Maya hadn’t undergone secondary training, so the speed achieved was sustained purely by Maya’s willpower and innate agility.
Maya didn’t sit down immediately; she stood in place for a while before slowly sitting down and massaging her sore legs.
The director quickly came before Maya, squatted in front of her, and asked worriedly, "Maya, are you okay now?"
Medical staff came over from behind. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
Maya shook her head, "I’ll be fine after resting for a while."
Nobody knew her physical condition better than she did; she didn’t want to say a word more.
Too tired, it felt as if the air in her lungs was thin.
Though Miles had just been in great danger, fortunately he didn’t suffer any snake bites, so it was merely a false alarm.
Jamie Miller was elsewhere searching for clues at the time, not with the other four, which spared him from the ordeal.
Justin Morgan, unable to move easily, was carried by two staff members to run, and since they were at a distance from the venomous snake, fleeing was not difficult.
The director scanned around and found that only two staff members had unfortunately fallen, injuring their feet during the flight, but it wasn’t serious, and he breathed a sigh of relief.
The director, holding a megaphone, "Everyone take a moment here to rest and receive treatment, we’ll return to the camp afterward!"
Later, the director learned that in the extremely dangerous situation, it was Maya who saved Miles and led the team to start fleeing, ultimately escaping danger.
Although the staff contacted the director immediately, it required some time for them to drive there. Fortunately, Maya demonstrated courage and decisiveness; otherwise, the director could almost envision the huge scandal "Great Survival Challenge" would face.
The director’s regard for Maya rose a few degrees, this time not only appreciating her but secretly grateful as well.
The director walked to Maya’s side, sighing, and said earnestly, "This accident was the program team’s oversight. Monroe, we owe you."
His form of address had changed slightly; Maya was no longer just a cooperating guest to the director.
Maya was utterly exhausted. Having just accepted a bottle of mineral water from a staff member, she took a few sips and accepted the director’s gratitude without refusing, "No problem."
Justin Morgan caught his breath and seemed to remember the scenes of terror, his body trembled, he then questioned, "Isn’t the program team going to explain? Why did we encounter a snake? And a venomous one at that! Didn’t the program team promise to ensure all guests’ safety? What’s happening now? Is this what you call assurance?"
His voice was sharp, no longer showing the cowardice from moments ago.
The camera was abandoned during the hasty escape, and the director certainly wouldn’t have the cameramen film this serious incident.
Because there was no camera, Justin Morgan became more blatant, raised his voice, and squared his shoulders, "Do you realize how hard it was for me to escape? You know how difficult it was for me to run with an injured foot? If not for your program team, how could we have ended up in such a dangerous situation?"
Jessica Young sat next to Justin, witnessing him transform from a head-ducking "quail" in the face of danger into a "giant" blaming others.
There was some apology in the director’s expression, "For the accidents that happened, we are very sorry. These were oversights by the program team, and we will definitely handle it properly. On behalf of the program team, I apologize to everyone here."
