Chapter 99: Chapter 99: There Are More Solutions Than Difficulties

Maya climbed the stairs, and when she returned to the bedroom, she found that Ian Rowe was already lying on the bed.

She thought calling Ian "the model worker" was barely an exaggeration, as he never parted from his work, his eyes sharp and keen behind the lenses.

Hearing the movement, Ian lifted his head, revealing his handsome face, showing no other emotions.

"You’re back?"

Maya adjusted her scarf and smiled at him, her voice full of pride: "Didn’t I tell you? I usually love exercising. Whether there’s something or not, I like to go out for a run or a walk."

She felt that Ian seemed to have changed a bit, for instance, being close to him no longer felt as chilly as before.

Characters in books also have their life trajectories and changes. Perhaps Ian had drunk too much goji tea recently and calmed his mind, who knows.

Maya poured a cup of hot water, not drinking it immediately, just holding it to warm her hands. She touched her nose, pretending to be very knowledgeable: "I knew it would be cold today before I went out, so I wore a few more pieces of clothing. It really didn’t surprise me. And the fragrance in the garden is overwhelming; walking there occasionally can be quite pleasing. You should try it too, honey."

Ian’s gaze moved to her frostbitten nose tip, with some inexplicable emotion in his heart. After a few seconds of silence: "Wear more next time. Or... don’t go for a walk in the garden; just stroll around inside the house."

Maya nodded obediently, but was not very pleased. She’d just finished speaking, and Ian came right behind to contradict her.

So is it true that when you can’t stand a person, you find everything about them disagreeable?

Maya quite agreed with this point.

After showering and cleaning up, Maya took a moment to check on her teddy bear in the guest room, feeling rather sentimental.

Since she arrived in this world, it’s that teddy bear that has accompanied her. Although the teddy bear can’t speak or think, it’s better than nothing. Maya doesn’t feel too lonely or bored because of its company.

Maya’s engagements have increased recently, and she doesn’t even know why so many seemingly illogical brands want to collaborate with her. It’s quite baffling.

When Maya returned to the bedroom once more, Ian seemed to have already fallen asleep.

Maya glanced at her phone, and sure enough, it was the same time as usual.

Compared to Maya, who loves sleeping in and is a snack and meat enthusiast, never standing when she can sit, Ian seems to be the complete opposite extreme.

Ian has a strong timing ability; his life is regular and disciplined. Besides daily work, he reportedly goes to the gym at fixed times.

Maya admires people like him because she’s unable to do the same.

However, since life is already comfortable, why should she exhaust herself striving? This is a society ruled by law, unlike the do-or-die plots she previously entered, this is a very peaceful place with a low mortality rate. There’s no need to worry about assassination attempts or resource robbery like survival on a deserted island.

But why was the room light still on?

Could it be that Ian was waiting for her?

Maya quickly dismissed this idea.

Impossible, how could that be?

Ian isn’t foolishly fed, how could someone who dislikes her so much be waiting for her? He probably just forgot to turn it off because he was too tired.

Maya took off her shoes and climbed onto the bed, turning off the light as she did.

Even though she often takes naps during the day, she can’t sleep at night if there’s any light.

"Do you like me that much?"

Maya had just closed her eyes when she heard Ian’s voice, giving her quite a scare.

Ian’s voice was soft, a rarely heard hint of tenderness in his otherwise cold tone.

Maya ignored it, thinking Ian probably had some dear sweetheart he couldn’t forget, otherwise, why would he talk about it even in his sleep.

In the plot, the author doesn’t describe Ian much. To some extent, he seems more like a tool supporting the female lead’s career triumph. Although the book doesn’t mention any white moonlight or little lover for Ian, Maya thinks a successful man like Ian must have no shortage of confidantes, maybe one or two who have captured his heart.

But what Ian thinks has little to do with her, as once in this normally functioning world, she finds out there are many details or subplots the author didn’t write about. As long as it doesn’t affect the overall story direction, Maya doesn’t plan to interfere.

Yet somehow, watching the warm, sleep-inducing dim light, Maya couldn’t fall asleep.

Maya lay with her back facing inward, and Ian was facing her direction.

Ian’s gaze moved from her slightly slender shoulders to the fair, graceful swan-like neck.

He didn’t know Maya fell asleep so quickly.

Wasn’t it just now that she lay down, and now she’s already asleep?

The questions in his heart remained unanswered by the person involved.

Though Maya’s behavior showed a strong liking towards him, Ian always felt it wasn’t enough.

What wasn’t enough?

If possible, he’d hope for more varied emotions in her eyes when she expressed her liking, beyond just the smile.

He couldn’t clearly define these emotions, but he always felt it wasn’t enough. The beast of inner desire many times wished to break free from its cage, frantically voicing his inner dissatisfaction.

Ian gently closed his eyes, experiencing insomnia once again.

When Maya woke up, Ian had already left. She checked the time and realized she’d overslept again.

In her dreams, the alarm seemed to have gone off, but she groggily turned it off.

Today, Maya was going to the second recording session of the "Great Survival Challenge," and she initially wanted to take advantage of this opportunity to be laid-back, but ultimately miscalculated.

After the painful lesson from the previous session, Maya didn’t plan to stuff her luggage full of chips again. Since they check luggage upon arrival, no matter how big the suitcase is, it won’t matter; she didn’t bring any clothes this time either.

Of course, Maya hadn’t given up on her snack obsession; there are always more ideas than challenges.

This time, Maya picked snacks in thumb-sized small packs: beef jerky, candy, and some assorted dried fruits gifted by brands.

Maya cut away the big outer bags and poured the small packs of snacks out.

Then she stuffed all the snacks into the inner pockets of her coat.

Never underestimate this pocket; it’s custom-designed, not an average size, far exceeding normal jacket pockets.
