The True Heiress is the Reserved Fiancé's Exclusive Memory-Chapter 591 - 602 I’ll Indulge You (1)
121:
The next day, in the morning.
At around ten o’clock, Aurora Cooper completed the discharge procedures.
Aunt Miller helped pack things, while Mia Ginger changed clothes and lay on the bed with Maeve, playing a fruit-slicing game on the iPad together.
Within a few minutes, Koa Jackson arrived first.
As he entered, he saw Mia and Maeve lying head to head on the bed, looking anxious as they played the fruit-slicing game.
The sound effects were on full blast... indeed quite distracting.
"Why aren’t you resting when you have the time?" Koa Jackson walked over and picked up the iPad, frowning slightly as he asked.
"Ah, no!" Mia said, frustrated and looking up. "I was about to break the record!"
"Have you packed everything?" Koa Jackson ignored her anger and asked calmly.
Mia replied, annoyed, "Yes, it’s done."
Koa glanced around the room, and his eyes fell on Maeve, who was pouting and looking aggrieved.
"Uncle is so annoying," Maeve said with a sulky mouth.
Koa looked at her, thought for a moment, and explained, "Playing games lying on the bed so close together isn’t good for your health."
"Will I get sick?" Maeve was taken aback.
"Pressure on the heart and lungs can indeed affect your health, make you sick, and yes, it can also lead to nearsightedness."
"Hmm." Maeve looked at him curiously for a while and genuinely said, "Uncle, you’re amazing."
Koa Jackson: "..."
"You’re so amazing," Maeve said, her eyes darting around as she grinned, "then I won’t call you fierce anymore."
"Thank you." Koa Jackson replied earnestly.
"You’re welcome." Maeve smiled, sitting on the edge of the bed and looking up at Mia, "Sister Mia, I want to get off the bed."
Mia didn’t have time to respond before Koa Jackson lifted her off the bed with one hand.
Mia: "..."
Both of Maeve’s feet slipped into her shoes, and she climbed onto a chair herself, sighing, "When will little uncle come back? I miss him so much."
She looked pitifully at Mia, who opened her mouth but didn’t know what to say. By this time, Aurora Cooper had come over, gently reassuring her, "Uncle went out for something and will be back in a few days. Would you like to go home with Sister Mia today?"
"To Sister Mia’s house?"
"How about it?" Aurora tried to coax her.
"But I want to go back to my house." Maeve bit her lip, muttering softly.
The room fell into a brief silence.
Koa Jackson looked at her, a rare trace of compassion flickering in his usually cold eyes.
He bent down to hug her, smiling gently as he spoke, "You can’t go back to your house right now. Sister Mia’s home is nice too..."
Before he could finish, Maeve interrupted him with a pout, "Little uncle said Miss Cox and Father Myres, and Lukas Myres all died in a car accident. I heard the uncles at home say that death is scary, buried underground in the dark, and that worms will eat their flesh and bones. Miss Cox must be in pain, boo hoo..."
She hadn’t shed a tear since last evening, but suddenly, large drops of tears burst from her eyes.
Catching everyone off guard.
Mia bit her lip, wanting to speak, but she couldn’t find the words.
Koa Jackson also paused for a while, then took a soft handkerchief from his white coat pocket, wiped her tears, and said with a gentle smile, "The uncles at home lied to you. Death isn’t scary; people go to the sky to live a happy life."
"To the sky?" Maeve’s eyes widened.
"Yes, to the sky," Koa Jackson nodded affirmatively. "Do you know about God and angels, Maeve?"
