Chapter 605: Chapter 617 Palm-Sized (2)

After a loud crash, the man slid nearly a meter forward along the shiny floor.

Stunned and angry, he scrambled to his feet.

Before he reached Koa Jackson, he was kicked away with a high leg lift.

Letting out a scream that sounded like a ghost wailing.

Charlotte Chester was momentarily stunned, staring angrily at Koa Jackson, unable to utter a single word when faced with his cold, sharp gaze.

She shouted at Zuri Ginger, still sitting motionless on the sofa, "What are you sitting there for? Get out!"

Zuri Ginger felt differently; she harbored no feelings for her biological father, and if any, they were of deep disdain, disgust, contempt, and revulsion.

Today was Charlotte Chester’s first time at the Ginger Family home since her divorce. She aimed to elicit Bob Ginger’s sympathy, trying every way to plead with him, hoping he might consider their past relationship and say good things about her in front of Mia Ginger and Aiden Jiang, so they could manipulate things privately, allowing her impending legal consequences to dissolve.

Then—

She could leave Cloud Capital and start anew.

Anything was better than her current situation: wallowing in self-pity due to her true lineage, unable to face the public because of scandals in the writing community, and even the drama adaptation of her novel had halted for various reasons, stuck in limbo.

But—

She hadn’t managed to speak to Bob Ginger alone before Mia Ginger arrived. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂

Zuri Ginger was incensed by Charlotte Chester’s yelling, her internal anger flaring up as she shouted back, "Whether I leave or not is none of your business!"

"Who are you speaking to?!" Charlotte Chester glared at her, miffed.

"To... the chicken," Zuri Ginger retorted with a faint smile, "Sorry, I forgot, chickens can’t understand human speech!"

Charlotte Chester froze and then realized, trembling with rage.

Zuri Ginger had savings and rented an apartment outside, barely living with her.

But—

Utterly out of the blue, there’s an additional daughter. Yet the man with her now is staunchly protective of her.

Zuri Ginger quickly sensed it.

Perhaps to vent her anger, she often visited to provoke her.

Don’t mention calling her mom, even having a decent conversation was a rare occurrence.

Fuming over such thoughts, Charlotte Chester suddenly heard an extremely impatient voice beside her, "Still not leaving?"

She looked up and met Koa Jackson’s fiercely cold expression.

Clenching her fist briefly, she took steps to leave.

The man, having gotten up from the floor, naturally followed her out the door shamefaced.

Seeing the three of them leave, Bob Ginger sighed with relief, settling onto the sofa.

Mia Ginger also stepped over and asked him, "How many days?"

"What?" Bob Ginger paused, quickly realizing, and replied softly, "Not many days."

"Huh." Mia Ginger shot him a look, "Not many days, meaning it’s already been several days. Being harassed, and you didn’t even think to call me?"

"Sister, I..."

Bob Ginger glanced at her, pursing his lips but saying nothing.

"Enough." Mia Ginger raised her hand to rub his head, pondering slightly before suggesting, "I was just thinking on the road, it’s not right for you to live here alone. Come live with me at Cloudy Capital."

"Huh?" Bob Ginger was taken aback, "That’s even more inappropriate."

"I’ve already sent my mom a message," Mia Ginger said, pursing her lips, "Nothing inappropriate about it. She should have already arranged a room for you by now."

"But I..."

"No more buts." Mia Ginger gripped his shoulder, earnestly advising, "You’re already preparing to study abroad, aren’t you? You won’t be living in the country for more than a few months. In the meantime, we might not see each other much, living together is great; we can meet every day, and you won’t have to worry about family affairs anymore."
